chaos
Two - Chaos
Wing and Yue returned to the compound witnessing the aftermath of the struggle. Several men lay dead between the workers lodgings and the manager's house. Where there was once chaos now was silence.
"Oh, this is bad! I have a very bad feeling, Yue!" Wing spoke as the two now focused on a lone body in front of the house. "Yue!"
They knelt beside Jordan's lifeless body. Wing brushed her hand through their leader's hair. She pulled her bloody hand back and screamed. "Nooooooooo!"
Yue took the medical approach and assessed the leader of the People. The scalp split open the skull was cracked but still intact. There was blood but not a huge amount in the area.
"The frontal lobe looks to be okay. The wound begins at the anterior cingulate and travels...Wing can you get some clean water for me please?" Yue gave her emotional friend something to keep her busy. "Okay let's see if you are still alive, girl."
Yue grabbed Jordan's wrist to find a pulse but could not find one then checked the young leader's neck. "Nothing! Something's not right here. You are toasty warm and the blood is matted, almost dry." The medical student leaned back. "You are alive...but barely. So..."
The medical student grabbed her stethoscope and placed it on various locations of Jordan's body. Wing returned with her eyes filled with tears. "What's the verdict, Yue?"
"She's....warm." Yue looked to Wing who was about die from suspense. "And I believe she is alive, barely!"
"Should we move her?" Wing asked.
"Not yet. Let's try to get a strong pulse before we do anything crazy." Yue looked to her friend. "Ready?"
"Yeah." Wing responded. "Go Yue!"
Yue began the thirty chest compressions and looked to Wing as she counted the last few compressions. "28, 29 and 30. Two quick breaths, Wing!" Wing did just that and the medical student resumed the compressions.
"Wing, I've got this. Run into the house! See if they have any medical supplies. Okay?" Yue just wanted her friend to step away and stay busy.
Wing ran into the manager's house hunting down anything that would help Yue with Jordan. Room by room she was coming up empty. "They didn't care if anyone was injured? Crazy!" She made it to the kitchen with nothing to show. "Why not?"
Wing quickly ripped open every door and drawer in the kitchen. "Nothing! Absolutely nothing! I refuse to believe even these heartless bastards would not have even a bandage!" Then she opened the large door where the brooms and buckets were stored. But there was just one plain brown box.
The Asian team leader pulled the box out and tore the tape from the flaps. "Forget to unpack the cleaning sup...plies?" Wing could not believe her eyes. She pulled the item from the box and ran outside, tripping over chairs as she rushed to get to Yue.
"Yue! Yue!" Wing slammed her knees into the sandy soil. "Look!" She opened the bag to show the medical student while she continued the compressions.
Wing pulled the item out of the bag. "They have a portable defibrillator? Are you kidding me?" Yue gave Jordan two more quick breaths, felt for a pulse but there was nothing. "Get back. Get back. Don't touch Jordan.
Yue stuck the two patches on Jordan's chest as instructed on the case. She connected the cables to the patches and looked at Wing. "Let's do this!' The medical student flicked the button and a shock was sent through the Unlikely Assassin's body tossing her into the air. The two women looked at Jordan and Yue felt for a pulse.
Yue could not be certain she felt a pulse after fifteen seconds. "Again. Are you clear?" Wing nodded and she flicked the button again.
Jordan's body jumped again. Yue checked the young woman's wrist. "I've got it." She spoke softly trying not to be overly excited but the pulse was beating strong. "We've got her, Wing! We've got her!"
Yue put her stethoscope on Jordan's chest. The heart was beating strong again. Then she turned her attention to the wounded woman's head cleaning her wound. The bullet's path was visible from her hairline for three inches just past the coronal suture.
"Looks like Jordan must have been shot! Her skull is cracked but looks manageable." Yue nervously smiled. "Let's call, Jimmy."
Wing's eyes just about popped from their sockets. "He will kill whoever's responsible for this." She shook her head as she called Jimmy on the satellite phone.
Windy answered Jimmy's personal cell phone. "This is Windy. Wing, where are you, Girl?" Jimmy looked up at Windy.
"Yue and I are at the compound with Jordan." Wing spoke with a normal tone trying not to be an alarmist.
"They left Jordan at the compound!" Windy jumped up then looked at Jimmy as she continued. "I am going to...I don't know what I am going to do." She flopped back onto her chair.
Jimmy walked over and collected his phone from his longtime friend. "Hey, Wing. The Indonesian government sent us the video." He took a deep breath. "I will come to claim her body at the airport."
"Ah, okay. How do I say this?" Wing looked at Yue. "Jimmy.......Jordan is alive!"
"What are you saying Fadhlan shot her in the head! We watched the video." Jimmy looked at Windy and frowned.
"Jimmy, they left her for dead but Yue brought her back. We need support to get her out of here. Set it up, Jimmy!" Wing demanded.
"Okay a helicopter to Pontianak. Then to Hong Kong. I will meet you and Yue there." Jimmy ended the call. He frowned making Windy shrug. "Jordan is alive?"
Windy popped back up. "Kiddo's alive?" Jimmy nodded. "I am going to Hong Kong with you."
"I have a stop to make before Hong Kong." Jimmy made a suggestion. "Wanna kick someone's ass first, Win?"
"If his name is Fadhlan, then yeah!" Windy left to pack. "Call Dana, Brad and Ally. Let them know Jordan's alive. We will fly them to Hong Kong."
The Compound
Jimmy and Windy made their way to the edge of the opening where the rebuild of the factory was in full swing. "Are you ready, Win?"
"You know what you are going to do in there? In and out, right?" Windy looked at her friend. "He is not worth wasting time over, Jimmy."
"I haven't figured it out quite yet, Win." Jimmy took a deep breath. "Ready?"
"Stay close." Windy led the way to the manager's house where the owner was overseeing the rebuild of the factory.
There was no security, the Unlikely Assassin was dead, and Fadhlan was thinking about the future. Many of the employees returned to the compound and were put to work helping with the construction.
Windy slowed as she stepped past the area where Jordan laid just days earlier. Jimmy walked past his friend and placed a hand on her shoulder acknowledging the area.
With no weapons Jimmy walked into the manager's house and Windy watched his back. There were several men on their way out after a meeting with the owner.
The workers were not alarmed at the two's presence with one actually announcing their arrival. "Hey, Boss you have visitors."
"Thank you. Come in." Fadhlan smiled as he stood to greet the visitors. "Hello, do I know you?"
"I don't think we have met before." Jimmy smiled as he stepped into the office. "I just heard you required workers after your rebuild is completed."
Windy hung out in the livingroom and watched for any signs of trouble. As she looked out the huge window into the busy compound her mind revisited the video of Jordan being shot by Fadhlan, the owner now in the office. "Bastard."
To her left were shotguns and automatic weapons locked in a cabinet. Windy checked the lock on the cabinet. "Just in case." Just in case Jimmy does not do things quietly.
The office was a genial place at that point with both taking a seat. Fadhlan prepared a cigar for smoking, smelled its aroma and smiled. "The Indonesian cigar." He held the cigar with the air of an upperclassman. "A finely crafted cigar and I wish to own the company in a few short years." He lit a match but spoke before lighting the cigar. "For that, I require 150 more workers."
"Expanding?" Jimmy raised an eyebrow.
"Well no, we had a little fire." Fadhlan laughed. "Some were, barbecued, let's say." He drew in as he lit his cigar.
"Your contract for the workers?" Jimmy improvised his role now as a human trader. "Worth my while?"
Fadhlan leaned back. "At the discounted rate. I can get my stock from the 356 if I choose."
"I have never known Angela to ever give a discount." Jimmy was disbelieving of the arrogant owner.
"Angela and I go way back...Mr.?" Fadhlan now needed to know who he was dealing with.
"Carron. James Carron, from Texas." Jimmy responded with a southern draw then poked the bear. "Call Angela. She will give me a glowing reference."
Windy overheard that statement. "Yeah, right!" She scoffed as she returned to the cabinet with the firearms. "I think we may need a few of you little guys."
Fadhlan picked up the landline phone. "This is Fadhlan, I need to speak with Angela." He looked at Jimmy who still had a smile on his face.
"Fadhlan, I hear you eliminated the Unlikely Assassin. Congratulations!" Angela was very happy with that result.
"Yes, the paratrooper medic pronounced her dead right here." Fadhlan laughed. "I need to rebuild but we never have to worry about the Unlikely Assassin ever again."
"Yes, now what was the purpose of your call, Fadhlan?" Angela did not like wasting time.
"I have a human trader in my office. He says you will vouch for him." Fadhlan talked as Jimmy continued to smile knowing what was to come.
"Who could possibly be in your office. I have no one in Indonesia at this time. Your government is squeezing you out." Angela was skeptical. "Who is he?"
"James Carron from Texas." The owner spoke then drew in on his cigar.
Angela's mouth dropped open in shock. Then she screamed. "Kill himmmmmm!" Fadhlan's eyes popped as he stared at Jimmy. "Fadhlan, he is the leader of the People and he is there to kill you!"
Jimmy overheard her speak, stood and took the phone from Fadhlan. "Angela, Angela, Angela. You know I have never killed anyone in my life." Jimmy covered the mouth piece. "Really, I have never. Relax, Faddy."
"Angela? Hey Ang, are you still there?" Jimmy heard Angela mumble something. He chuckled. "I will need to amend that statement. I have never had to kill a person before." Jimmy ended the call with the vague statement.
