Chapter 5 Please
Hey guys! So recently I have also been working on another book not yet published. It's called Hide But Don't Seek. But it isn't out yet. Also, don't worry, updates will continue as planned for this book. (there's actually no plan, but whatever) The other book will have a more arbitrary schedule. Enjoy, comment, vote! -Joann :)
EDIT: HIDE BUT DON'T SEEK IS OUT! PLEASE CHECK IT OUT AND DROP A VOTE!!! THX :D
Thranduil spoke quickly and quietly to the servant as the clocked ticked. The servant practically sprinted to carry out his order, but Thranduil still fidgeted in nervousness. He had ordered a healer to anesthetize Tauriel, and when Tauriel was asleep, a servant would go in and take all weapons and all things that could possibly be a weapon. Yes, the door was locked, but he had a spare key of every door in the kingdom.
Minutes passed. Or was it hours? At last, the servant returned.
"It has been done, my lord," he said dutifully.
"Good, good. You may go," Thranduil said, relieved. As he lay back down, he realized that what he had just done to Tauriel was what the healers had done to him when Vanima died . That cold scrape was a needle. And the darkness was the drug.
--------
Tauriel's eyes snapped open from a restless, but not terror-filled sleep. She actually felt refreshed, a feeling she thought was long gone. She sat up slowly, carefully, not wanting the peaceful feeling to leave her. She never even remembered falling asleep. She thought hard of the previous day's events. She remembered having dark thoughts, though she couldn't place what they were. Elves came into the room...but from there on was a hazy fog. Deciding that she didn't really need to know, she slumped back against the wall, as the usual empty feeling engulfed her.
Minutes passed. Then hours. Suddenly, out of the blue, she sat up bolt upright. Those thoughts...she was going to- what? Just as suddenly as she remembered it, she forgot it. A pounding headache followed it, and she lay down again, letting her emptiness fill her once more.
-------
Thranduil sat blankly in front of Lynrae, his mind wandering. He was supposed to be listening to Lynrae explain the drug used to subdue Tauriel and sign his consent to accept full responsibility for it (not that he could actually be punished).
"My lord?" Lynrae was looking up at him expectantly, with an extremely long piece of parchment between them.
"Yes, ah, where do I sign?" he asked as casually as he could muster.
Lynrae's face betrayed a look of shock and exasperation as he pointed to a spot that was right in front of him.
Hastily, Thranduil signed the paper, and bid the healer goodbye.
Glancing down at the paper, he quickly attached that to his letter to Legolas.
Dear Ion-nin, I hope you are well. How are Aragorn and Arwen faring? Send them my well wishes. I have been keeping an eye on Tauriel as you intended, but never told me. Unfortunately, I have met with Lord Elrond, and he fears she is fading. He claims your presence will bring her back. I know you want the best for her. Love, Thranduil Oropherion
There. That should help convince him.
He gave the messenger his letter with strict instructions to make haste, and sat down again, with nothing but time on his hands.
-------
"My lord, you have mail," said en elven messenger.
"Thank you," said Legolas, accepting the stack of parchment and dismissing him. He flipped through the pile.
Advertisement, magazine, newpaper...and a letter with the seal of Thranduil.
