29. Love Me or Leave Me

I was now standing; out of that small cramped space. All I could hear was Allison beating on the side of her area as I stared at it, wishing she'd be quiet. I didn't want them to hurt her for making too much noise. Deucalion was in the room, along with Jade and Kali both. The two of them were staring at me as Deucalion stepped closer, still keeping his distance.

"I get it; you want me, but let Allison go-"

"She's leverage," Kali half smirks and half snarls, making me clench my fist. I hated that they thought they could just do whatever they hell they wanted. None of this was okay.

Allison stops beating on the walls then, finally getting the hint that they would hurt her if something went wrong. Plus, she couldn't listen if she was making all of that noise. I glare at Kali over my shoulder as Jade watches me with close eyes, her position being behind Deucalion.

"Tell me Corey," Deucalion says, his voice still giving me the chills. "Can you see the future?"

I wasn't sure how I should answer that question. Sure, I had the capability of doing it, but only with Lydia so far. I wasn't able to do it on my own just yet, but no way in hell was I going to tell them that. They'd go after Lydia next, and I didn't want that at all.

"No," I say firmly, making sure to keep my heart beating at a steady rate. Allison had taught me how to do it awhile back, and I was really thankful for that right now. "I can't see it."

"Then how did you find your little vet?" he stares at me behind his shades, making me grow uncomfortable. Keep you heart rate steady, Corey.

I take a deep breath. "Deaton? It wasn't that hard to find him after that clue you gave Scott. Follow the currents. All we had to do after that was pin point a spot on the map and go there."

Deucalion stares at me for a long moment, knowing that I was lying. I could tell that he was listening to my heart beat, so I used that for my sake. "You can hear my heart beat; I'm not lying."

"Or that little Argent girl taught you how to control it," Kali snarls behind me, causing me to whip around and stare at her. Just her presence angered me.

"I'm not lying," I snap in her face, seeing hers turn sour. "If I were lying, you'd still know. I'm not good at lying."

"He's not," Jade pipes up, crossing her arms. Deucalion looks over his shoulder at her, listening closely. "He's always sucked at lying."

It confused me to hear Jade say that. I actually wasn't the worst liar on the planet, considering I had gotten Jade out of a lot of trouble when we were younger. The look on her face told me that she said that to get Deucalion to stop asking me. She was protecting me, and I wanted to know why. Even after that little talk we had last in Stiles' backyard.

"Well if you can't see the future then..." Deucalion sighs, looking back at me. "You're not of much use to me."

He started to reach for Allison's slot in the wall, which made me nervous. When I'm nervous, I say random things. "—But I'm still learning."

Deucalion stops as he looks back at me, Jade shooting me a look that told me what are you doing? "The eclipse is in a few days, Corey. I need you then, or else I don't need you at all."

I gulp, not really sure what to say. "I can be ready by then."

I wasn't sure if I was a coward for betraying Scott and the others, or if I was being noble for protecting Allison. All I knew in that moment was that Jennifer needed to be taken care of and Allison needed protecting. I had a plan in the back of my mind to figure out how to take down Jennifer and the alpha pack, but I wasn't sure what that plan was yet.

"You know, you really are a good kid Corey," Deucalion says suddenly, making me tense. He takes a few steps closer to me as he taps his cane on the table next to us, making me grow nervous. "But Jade has told me about the darkness that lives within you. As much as you appear to be the light, I know what lies beneath."

I furrow my eyebrows. "What are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about Kaitlin. She brought out the worst in you, and that's what I'm planning on doing to you myself," he says, sounding proud and accomplished. It made me grow sick to my stomach. Not because of what he was reminding me of, but because I knew that Allison was listening.

"All Kaitlin did was stab me in the back," I breathe, losing control of my heart beat. "I don't have a darkness. She just led me away from the light."

Deucalion stops as he looks off into space, lifting a finger. "Ah, there's that heart beat. Kali?"

It was then I realized that he only said that to get me sidetracked. As soon as he said Kali's name, I felt her grab the back of my neck as she flung me up against the wall, pressing my face into it as she leaned her head closer to mine. Her eyes stare into mine as I look over my shoulder, my heart racing out of control now.

"Is this really necessary?" Jade asks, sounding worried. It alarmed me to hear her like that.

Decalion lifts his finger in front of her face to indicate her to be quiet, but Kali did all of the talking. "Now tell me again, Corey, I must have misheard you the first time. Can you see the future?"

I shake my head, my eyes wide as she snarls at me. "No, I can't-"

"Your heart skipped a beat," Kali smirks, knowing that she got me. I couldn't help it; I was terrified right now. I couldn't focus.

"Jade," Deucalion says then, pointing his finger away from her and to Allison's slot in the wall. I started to fight against Kali then, but she only holds me steady as her claws hover over the back of my neck. If I moved, she had the potential to kill me, and something told me that she wanted to. Sure, Deucalion needed me, but Kali could care less.

Jade stares at me and then back at Deucalion before doing what she's told. I scream at her to stop, that if she ever cared about me to not do it, but she ignores me. I grit my teeth as she opens the door, watching as Allison tried to put up a fight against her, but Jade had her before she could really do any real damage.

"I need you, Corey, but I don't need her," Deucalion says as Jade holds her in place, her claws against her throat. Allison's eyes are wide as she stares at Kali and I, not sure what to do. I could tell that her eyes were spinning with different ideas and different scenarios on how this could play out, but there was no answer on getting out of it. "I'm going to get you either way, so why take away an innocent girl's life in the process? Just tell the truth; that's all I'm asking."

I stare at Allison for what felt like ages, but it was only a few seconds. When I looked at her, all I saw was her life dangling right in front of me on a piece of string, and I was holding the scissors. Either I cut her string, or I cut Lydia's. It didn't take me long to figure out what do to, and I based my decision on the greater possible outcomes of living on both her and Lydia.

"I can see the future," I breathe finally, watching Jade's claws start to relax over her throat. "I can, but it's not as easy as it sounds."

Deucalion smiles, noting that my heart didn't skip a beat this time. Allison's face is filled with pain as she stares at me, something in her eyes that made my skin turn cold. Either it was the fact that I had practically handed myself over to them that gave her that look, or that I was about to sell out her best friend.

"How do you do it?" he asks, taking a few steps closer again. Kali starts to lessen on her grip, but she was still holding me firmly in place.

I gulp, knowing that I couldn't lie. They'd really hurt Allison then. "Lydia's scream triggers it."

Decalion laughs then and Kali smiles. They knew something we didn't, and I wanted to know. "Of course it's the banshee. Why didn't I think of that?"

"Banshee," I breathe, making a mental note of what he just said. "Did you just call her a banshee?"

Kali looks back at me. "You're telling me that you kids haven't even put those pieces together yet? Tell me again why you want some of them in your pack, Deucalion?"

Deucalion ignores her question. It looks like he hears something then as he looks up above him, Kali and Jade doing the same. He looks back at Kali. "Go check it out."

Kali makes a sound in the back of her throat before releasing me, flashing her eyes red at me quickly as a warning before turning and running off. My hand reaches up and grabs the back of my neck as I hiss softly, wishing that she didn't have to be so careless about hurting me.

"Please, just let us go," I say to Deucalion calmly, ready for this night to be over with. Jade doesn't move as she keeps Allison right in front of her, her claws still pressed up against her throat firmly.

Deucalion knows he has me wrapped around his finger. "I'll make you a deal, Corey. If you come with me now, you'll save your girlfriends life. If you don't, well, I guess you two had a good run."

Jade's face shows despair for a flickering moment before it goes cold, making Allison whimper with pain and fear. No way did I want to go with Deucalion, but I wasn't going to let him kill Allison of course. This wan't fair; I just wanted to rip Deucalion's head off right here and now to end all of this.

"I'll go with you," I breathe, Allison shaking her head as tears start to fall. She didn't want me to go with him either. "Just please; let her go. She's not a rag doll."

Deucalion smirks then as he nods his head towards Jade, causing her to release Allison. She gasps before running over to me, throwing her arms around me. I stood there for a moment, shocked as to what she was doing, but then I realized that this was it for now.

This was goodbye.

"Please Corey," Allison breathes in my ear, her hot breath dancing on my neck. "Don't go with him. We can get out of here right now. We can run for it-"

I knew she was quiet enough to where the other wolves couldn't hear her, but what she was suggesting would get someone hurt. "Allison, you and I both know that we can't do that and get out of here unharmed."

Allison's sob echoes in my ear. "You can't go with him. He'll use you and then toss you to the side as if you're garbage."

"It'll be okay," I say as I run my fingers through her hair, trying to calm her down. I knew I didn't have much time left before the alphas would get impatient. "I promise we'll go on another date after all of this is over with, and I'll make sure this time no alpha decides to kidnap you this time."

Allison laughs in my neck, but it was a dry type of laugh. "Besides that part of it, it was really nice..."

I pull away from her then, staring into her dark eyes. Every time I looked into those eyes, I saw a world of possibilities. I saw the galaxy hidden within them, stretching for miles into infinite. Whenever I looked at Allison, I saw a beacon of hope.

I take her face into my hands, trying not to get lost in her eyes. "I love you."

She smiles vaguely before returning the favor, bringing her hand up and pressing it up against my hand. "I love you."

"How romantic," Deucalion groans, and I had almost forgotten that they were still in here. I could see Jade's face of disgust out of the corner of my eye, but I didn't care. I had my moment with Allison, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Deucalion nods towards Jade then as she walks over and motions me to go on; to follow Deucalion as he made his way out of the room. Jade wasn't nice about it either; and I couldn't tell if she meant to be rude about it, or if it was an act. Either way, he only thing I could focus on were the sounds of Allison's sobs come from behind me.

Jade smiles over at me. "Looks like we're partners in crime once again after all."
