18. Facing Reality

I wasn't sure what really made me so furious; sure, Scott's words had cut me deep, but something else was behind my rage that I couldn't explain. Maybe it was my anger at Jade for doing that to Allison, maybe it was the fact that Allison was dying, or it was from my frustration with the alpha pack.

Whatever it was, it didn't deny the fact that I was now pounding my fist into Scott's crooked jawline.

My teeth grind as Scott lets me hit him, but I wasn't sure why. It was like he wanted me to beat some sense into him. Suddenly however, he jerks forwards and grabs both of my wrists, throwing me back off of him as I skidded across the carpet flooring. My back burns before I'm back on my feet, ready to go for another round.

Scott smiles at me, blood on his teeth. "I've got to say, Corey; you're stronger than I thought."

I only get more aggravated from his comment, causing me to run forwards and slam my hands into his shoulders. His feet stumble from underneath him, which only causes the two of us to go flying out the door and slam into the railing that kept us from falling. The door flings and hits the wall from our impact as Scott's eyes flash yellow at me, anger finally filling him.

"You really want to do this?" he spits at me, pushing me off of him as he stood up off of the railing. "You really want to fight me over something as stupid as Allison?"

I could feel the heat radiating off of me. "Allison isn't stupid."

"No, but you are for picking a fight with a werewolf," Scott snaps back, sounding proud of himself. So what if he was a werewolf? I took Ethan; why not him too?

I shake my head as my nails dig into the palms of my hands. "And you made the mistake of picking a fight with a seer."

Scott growls at me before grabbing my arm and twisting it, making me hiss from the pain. I hold it back however as he lifts his foot and kicks me in the back of the leg, making me fall down on one knee. I wasn't going to let him win this; not here, not now.

A wave of strength washes through me as I reach back around behind me with my free hand, digging my nails into his forearm. He growls once again as he lets my other arm go, letting me free. I'm back on my feet again as fast as I could move before I make my next move.

I run back at Scott, but he just moves to the side as I run past him, trying to make my feet stop from underneath me. I glare at him as I turn around, more than angry to get him this time; even if that meant getting myself hurt in the process.

A yell escapes my throat as I run back, hitting him this time. I grab him by the collar as I shove him up against the railing, pushing as hard as I could to make him fall. His face leans over the edge as his hands grabbed the bar, but I just let his shirt collar go and pick him up by the legs, throwing him over.

Instead of Scott falling however, his hands on the railing kept their grip as he flings around so that his back is touching the railing, which then prevents him to just drop safely to the concrete. I groan under my breath as he looks up at me, growling with a little smirk on his face. It infuriated me.

He looks back down before running back towards the bus, only causing me to turn and bolt down the balcony and down the stairs. No way was I going to let him get away; not after what he said to me and about Allison. I didn't know what was wrong with him in the first place, but then again, I didn't know what was wrong with me either. It was like I wasn't thinking straight.

I'm out of breath by the time I reach the bus, stopping in my tracks to realize that I didn't know where Scott was. I tried to focus on the sounds around me; to hear even the slightest of movements. However, when I didn't hear anything at all, I started to grow really nervous. I suddenly felt like a hunters prey.

And I was right; because just when I was thinking that, something started to rain down on me. I gasp as I feel a liquid pour down onto my hair and drench my clothes, the smell of gasoline filling my nostrils. I looked up and saw Scott standing there on top of the bus, gas tank in hand.

"What the hell!" I scream at him, knowing that he just took this to some other level. It wasn't just a fight now. It was survival.

He smirks down on me, making goosebumps rise on my arms. I tried to think of ways on how to get up on top of that bus, but before I could even attempt any of those ideas, Scott jumps down from the bus, landing about 10 feet away from me. I was certain that I was going to run at him and tackle him to the ground, but I stopped in my tracks when I saw him lift up a flare, knowing exactly what he was planning to do with that.

I shake my head. "Scott, you don't want to kill me."

"Why not?" he says, his face going cold. "You stole my girl and the only way to get her back is to eliminate you. Of course I want you dead...and I mean dead. Not as a ghost, but dead."

I hold my hands up, suddenly feeling powerless. "This is all in your head, Scott. I know this isn't you-"

"You don't know me," Scott snarls, claws growing around the flare in his hand. "You don't know me at all."

I try to find sincerity in my voice. "Yes I do. You're Scott McCall, the boy who saves everyone. You'd risk your life to save everyone, even if that someone doesn't mean anything to you. You won't kill me. I know you won't; even if you wanted to."

Scott stares at me blankly. "I guess my no killing record ends tonight."

My heart races as he lights the flare, holding it out as if he was about to end my short life back from the dead. But just when I thought he was about to drop the flare and end me, Stiles and Lydia run out, screaming at Scott to stop.

He turns and looks at them as Stiles holds his hands out. "Scott, what are you doing?"

"Don't act like you don't want what I'm doing," Scott snaps, clutching the flare in his hand tightly. "Corey practically invaded your life, Stiles. What do you think your father is going to be calling him a few months from now, hmm? Something along the lines of son?"

Stiles' eyes flick between Scott and me, and for a moment, just a split moment, I could see that he thought about what Scott said. "What does that have to do with anything, Scott? So what? Think about what you're doing here-"

"And you Lydia," Scott says, ignoring Stiles' pleas. "Do you not realize that he's ruining your best friend's life? It amazes me at how blind you really are."

Lydia stares at Scott in confusion. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Whatever, it doesn't matter," Scott says, turning back to me as he holds the flare out. "All that matters is that we'll be free from you, Corey. Maybe this time you'll actually stay dead."

I hold my breath as I wait for the flare to drop; to end my life once again. But that little split moment that Scott hesitated saved my life, because that was when Allison's voice filled our ears, making him stop dead cold. He looks over as the rest of us do as well, seeing her running over to the scene.

"Scott!" she says, staring at the flare. I could tell that she still wasn't feeling well, but she was on her feet. She came to stop Scott.

Scott stares at Allison before turning back cold. "It's a good thing you're here, Allison. You'll get to say goodbye."

Allison stares at me for a moment, her eyes full of pure pain. Something in her eyes told me that she knew that words weren't going to change Scott's mind, but actions would. So when she looked away from Scott and stepped into the puddle of gasoline with me, I knew that her courageous act had to stop him then.

Scott's eyes are wide as he stares at Allison, not expecting this. "What are you doing?"

"If you're going to burn him, then I guess you'll burn both of us," she says, now standing beside me. I wanted to get her out of the gasoline, to make sure she wouldn't actually die, but when she grabbed my hand, it told me that everything was going to be okay. That this was going to work.

Scott seems frustrated. "Allison, get out of the puddle now."

"No," she simply says, holding her ground. Scott's face wrinkles up in anger, almost convincing me that he was actually going to light us on fire, but then he softens, looking at us in desperate confusion. Stiles makes his move then as he takes the flare from his hands and stabs him with it in the arm, making him snap back to reality.

Scott stares at Allison and I, looking like a totally different person. "What...what is going on?"

I sigh as I look down at Allison, more than grateful to have her. If it weren't for her, I would surely be dead again by now. She smiles back up at me as we walk out of the puddle of gasoline, knowing for sure that we were ready for this hellenistic night to be over with.

--------

"What the hell is this!" I hear a voice bounce around in my head, not realizing that it was Coach's before my eyes flash open. The five of us had decided to sleep on the bus; since I mean, we all almost had died the night before. No way were we going to sleep in those rooms.

I see Stiles and Scott sit up out of the corner of my eye, and it wasn't until then that I realized that Allison's head was lying on my chest, since I was leaning up against the window. A soft groan escapes her lips as her eyes flutter open, wondering what was going on and who woke her.

We both look up over our seats at a furious Coach. "Why aren't you in your rooms?"

"It's a long story," Scott groans as he awakens, tapping on Lydia's shoulder as well to wake her up. She doesn't want to open her eyes, but soon she's doing so from hearing Coach speak.

Coach sniffs the air, wrinkling his nose up. "Why does it smell like gasoline?"

I roll my eyes slightly as I look over at Scott, who was sulking down in his seat. We don't give him an answer as teenagers start to rush onto the bus, pushing past coach to get to the back of the bus. Allison's hand rests against my stomach as she pushes herself up off of me, a yawn forming on her face.

"Did last night even happen?" she groans while turning to face me. I push myself up off of the window, yawning after seeing her do so.

Stiles chuckles. "I wish it didn't."

I could tell that she was thinking about what happened last night, which was when her face went pale. I knew she reminded herself of what happened to her, which was why when she turned back to me with glossy eyes, I spoke first to ease her.

"You're going to be okay," I softly speak, resting my hand on her knee.

She shakes her head. "But what about that seizure I had-"

"We're going to talk to Deaton," I say. "He has to have a solution."

"He always does," Lydia says, peeking her head up over the seat behind us. "And if he doesn't, then we're going to make sure Jade doesn't live to see another day."

"That's going to happen either way," I spit, not wanting to hear her name this early in the morning.

Scott looks back at the three of us. "Can someone explain to me what happened last night?"

Stiles opens his mouth to speak, but I'm already cutting him off, taking this as my chance to rant. "Well to start off, you about saw my girlfriend naked, you claimed that Allison didn't love me and that it was all a lie, and you poured gasoline on me and about killed me again."

Scott's eyes are wide, speechless. "Uh, say that again?"

"It doesn't matter," Lydia laughs nervously, sensing the aggravation in my tone. "All that matters is that we made it out of here alive."

Stiles turns around in his seat, looking at Lydia. "Yeah, but that doesn't explain what caused Scott and the other wolves to act like that."

"And me," I add on. They all turn and look at me, confusion on their faces. "You said the wolves hallucinated, right? I came to the bus and saw Jade snap Allison's neck...that can't just be a coincidence."

Stiles narrows his eyes as he thinks. "That is weird....you're not a werewolf, are you?"

I roll my eyes at him, not in the mood for his sarcasm. I was about to fire back a reply before Lydia stands up out of her seat, ripping the whistle off from around Coach's neck. He hisses at her to give it back, but she holds onto it tightly, saying she will in a moment. Coach walks away, yelling at some kids as Lydia blows on it softly into her hand, holding it up for us to see purple dust.

"Wolfsbane," she confirms. I furrow my eyebrows at this, it explaining the wolves, but not me. "Every time Coach blew the whistle, you guys got another dose of poison."

"That would explain how the Darach got into their heads," Stiles says before looking back at me. "But Corey...I don't know about you. Maybe wolfsbane is poisonous to seers too?"

"The Darach probably wanted me dead because they know the alpha pack wants me," I say, putting the puzzle together. "I have the potential to see the future, and that wouldn't be good for them."

Scott stares at the whistle. "I don't know, but get rid of that thing."

Stiles nods his head as the bus starts to pull away, causing him to take the whistle from Lydia and throw it out of the window. Coach yells at him, but we were already pulling away for him to go back to get it. I smile to myself as Stiles sits back in his seat, acting as if he didn't do anything wrong. But what's new for Stiles?

We all start to settle back in for the long bus ride as Allison nuzzles her head back on my shoulder, sighing. "Why am I still tired."

"Maybe it's from the long night we had," I state the obvious, hearing her groan softly in my shirt.

"Maybe," she rolls her eyes. "I'm just ready to go home..."

I rub the back of her hand softly, my mind drifting. "We're going to fix you, Allison. I promise."

"That's not what I'm worried about," she breathes as her fingers entangle with my own. "I don't want my father to see me like this. He's already lost mom-"

"He's not going to lose you too." Allison closes her eyes slowly, her hand putting me at ease. "I'm not going to lose you."

"Everyone dies, Corey," Allison sighs, facing reality. "It's just a matter of time. You will lose me someday, and you'll have to learn to let me go."

--------

I was gonna reveal some stuff this chapter, but eh...I'll wait til the next. I really am Satan, aren't I? *muahha* It'll be worth it though, I promise. Just hang in there a little bit longer!

I'm ready for some more Corey and Allison alone time though. Hopefully after all of this Motel California stuff I'll get to that. *demonic grin*

Alright, comment and vote guys! You're the best readers a girl could ask for (:
