Olivia's POV:
As soon as we get there, Boyd and Cora were trying to cover their eyes as random shots of flashes went off nearby. I use that as our chance to run inside and yank off the wrap from my hand.
"Isaac, push them in!" I yell as he tries to shield his eyes. His eyes widen as soon as he sees me inside, hesitating whether or not to do it. "Do it!"
He harshly shoves them inside and closes the doors behind them. Boyd and Cora look up and see the blood from my hand drip on the floor.
"Dinner time." I trail in an attempt to taunt them and continue sprinting, hearing their growls behind me. I turn the corner to the next hallway and hear something slam against the lockers.
I turn behind and see Derek had tackled Boyd and Cora. Scott jumps down from the stairs I was by and stands protectively in front of me, along with Argent who comes out of the other hallway, holding out the electric baton towards them.
"Come and get us." Derek glares. He and Scott run down the stairs as Cora and Boyd follow behind them.
I lean against the lockers and Argent comes up to me, covering my hand with a new wrap so it would stop bleeding.
After several minutes, we hear the door slam from below. I jump up and quickly run down the stairs, ignoring Argent's calls for me to stay back.
Derek and Scott were struggling on holding the door shut as the door would slightly open and close due to the werewolves trapped inside try to shove it open.
I quickly place the plank down the latches to hold it, but then the banging from the other side stops.
"Did that seriously just work?" I ask with a smile slowly forming on my face.
For the first time out of the whole time I've lived here, I swear I saw Derek momentarily smile. "It worked," He says then cautiously pulls away from the door. Scott lets out a breath of relief but then steps closer to the door. Derek leans against the wall and I sit down on the stairs.
Scott however, shut his eyes and Derek took notice of this. "What are you hearing?"
"Heartbeats," He responds and I furrow my eyebrows.
"Cora and Boyd's, so two?"
Scott's eyes widen. "Actually...three of them."
"You've got to be shitting me right now," I grumbled, but then see Derek stand up from his spot. "What are you doing?"
"Close the door behind me and keep it shut." He ordered but doesn't spare a glance at either of us.
"If you go in there alone, you're either gonna kill them or they kill you," Scott says and Derek turns to the both of us.
"That's why I'm going in alone." He answered, but I immediately shake my head.
"I'll go too. I-I can heal, remember? I'll be okay." I say, but Scott shakes his head. "I know for sure I can get through to Cora."
"No you won't, they'll rip you to shreds. You stay out here and I'll go with Derek." Scott orders.
"You're the one that's strong enough of holding the door. If I'm out here, they'll only escape again." I say and Scott hesitates. "I'll be okay."
"Olivia, just stay out here." Derek scolded.
"Just because you're an alpha, you're not in charge of me." I glare. "I'm going regardless of what you say."
"Fine." He huffs and turns to Scott. "Close it as soon as we're inside."
Derek opens the door and I quickly follow after him, Scott immediately shutting the door behind us.
Derek looks around cautiously until we hear more growls nearby. We walk further inside then see Boyd and Cora eyeing something where we kept our school files.
Derek storms over to where they were and shoves them both, making Cora fall to the ground and Boyd to hit the pipes.
Boyd stumbles, but angrily growls at the both of us. Cora barely stands up from the ground, but I quickly run over to her to hold her down which earns a snarl to escape from her lips.
She continues to growl in my hold and slashes her claws on my arm. I grunt but still hold her tighter against my body. She moves around in my grasp, but miraculously she couldn't get out.
I look up to Derek who was still in the middle of a fight with Boyd. He got shoved to the ground and Boyd overpowered Derek, slashing his chest repeatedly.
"Derek!" I yell, seeing the blood splatter left and right. He shut his eyes, holding Boyd back away from his face as if he was just letting him do the slashes.
Cora wriggles free one of her hands and starts doing the same to my arms. My blood started to splatter across her hands, but I squeezed her tighter.
'I found a trigger.' Derek's voice echoed in my head.
What would my trigger be? Derek's trigger obviously might be anger but maybe it had to be something personal? Someone close to me?
Thoughts of my mom begin to swirl in my head. Comforting me at my low points, laughing at the times we hung out whenever she was off work, seeing her reaction when Matt forced me to go with him.
I was cut off from the flashback by feeling Cora's claws dig into my side, but all I did was shut my eyes.
More flashbacks played in my head, but this time it was of Allison. The times where we laughed our asses off over something stupid, the time where she recorded a video of us to make the day official when we became best friends,
However, one memory stood out to me.
FLASHBACK TO THE NEXT MORNING AFTER THE FIRST KANIMA ENCOUNTER
A/N: the morning where Allison spent the night at Olivia's house. beginning of ch 5
"I promise I'll give you the clothes back as soon as I wash them," Allison whispers as we both sneakily go to my front door, hoping my mom wasn't awake yet at five in the morning.
"Don't worry," I assure, not even worried about the clothes since I rarely wore them. "keep it."
I quietly shut my front door and walk her to her parked car. It was still pretty dark, but I didn't get that eerie feeling about our surroundings.
"Thanks again for letting me spend the night even if we barely just met. I really wasn't in the mood to sleep at my house after that whole...training session." She awkwardly scratches the back of her neck. "Not how you pictured your first friend here, huh?"
"Nope," I laugh. "but no worries. You can make it up by texting me to make sure you made it back home safely."
She furrows her eyebrows. "But I don't have your number."
Shit. "Oh yeah...right." I cough out awkwardly.
She laughs quietly and took out her phone from her pocket. "Let me see your phone."
I pull mine out as well and she grabs it from my hand while I get hers.
I click on 'add new contact' and type in my name as 'Liv💛☺️' and my phone number into her contact list.
I go to create a new message and quickly type in something to send myself.
Liv💛☺️
sorry for almost killing you tonight xoxox🔪
{5:13 a.m}
Once I finish, I hand it to her and I see her eyes read what I had done, earning a small eye roll from her.
"I almost killed you?" She questions with a playful smile but I shrug innocently.
"Once you get home, you better text me to let me know that you made it back," I say as she gets inside her car and turns on her ignition.
She rolls down her window with a smirk. "What if I forget?" She teases.
"Then I guess I'll delete that video you made in our room and won't call you my best friend." I shrug playfully, causing her to chuckle. "So don't forget."
"Trust me, I won't if our relationship depended on it." She declared confidently and I feel my face start to flush. "See you at school." She begins pulling out of my driveway and continued driving down the road from where we came from last night.
I walk inside the house then shut and lock the door with a grin on my face. "Huh," I mutter to myself before going back to my room.
END
Oh god, I'm still hooked on this girl.
I didn't feel the slashes from Cora anymore and I open my eyes, seeing she was unconscious and limp in my arms. I carefully place her on her side and I look up at Derek, who was breathing heavily as he did the same with Boyd.
The sun rays began to light the room, making our surroundings more visible and clear enough to see. Thank god.
Scott and Isaac came running to us, their eyes widening at the sight in front of them.
"They're not dead if that's what you're thinking." I rasp out, causing Scott to let out a small chuckle.
"To this day, you continue to surprise me."
I numbly give him a thumbs up. "I'll take it as a compliment."
"There's a teacher, I'll take care of her." Derek weakly says and gestures to Cora and Boyd. "Get them out of here."
Isaac picks up Cora from me and helps me up so I could stand. Scott picks up Boyd from the ground as well and the three of us head up the stairs.
Once we got out of school, I feel something under my shoe which causes me to stop. I move my foot away and see I stepped on an arrow. I picked it up from the ground and see the familiar arrowhead shine under the sun.
Allison was here?
"Hey, you okay?" Scott asks, noticing I slowed down.
I hide the arrow behind me. "Nothing. My hand just hurts." I lie.
"Are you coming with us to the loft?" Isaac asks.
I shake my head. "I need at least two hours of sleep." I move my arms back to stretch my shoulders, glancing at the unconscious girl he had in her arms. "Eventually I'll talk to her. We got a lot of catching up to do."
My phone starts to ring in my pocket and I quickly pull it out, seeing it was from Stiles.
"Hey, everything okay?"
"I'm at the hospital but...I think we were wrong. Your mom let me in to see the body that Lydia found at the pool, but there weren't any slash marks."
"So Boyd and Cora might not have killed anyone?" I ask and Scott looks up in confusion. I put it on speaker for him and Isaac to hear.
"You're gonna wish they did."
"Why?" Scott asks and I turn up the volume on my phone.
"I'm not exactly sure yet. The other girl who was out in the woods, Emily? Eventually, they're gonna find her. She's one of them. Emily, Heather, that guy Lydia found at the pool; all three were virgins. They're all gonna have the same three injuries. Strangled, throat slashed, head bashed in."
I hear Stiles sigh in the background and I wanted now more than ever to comfort the guy. Scott had explained to me beforehand that Heather was a childhood friend to Stiles and I felt horrible at the thought of witnessing someone on the death table.
"Sorry." Stiles clears his throat. "It's called the threefold death."
"So if these aren't random killings, then what are they?" Scott asks, but I already knew what the answer. I look up to him and he frowns once he sees my worried expression.
"Human sacrifices."
