Eighteen
Olivia's POV:
"Guys!"
I snap my eyes open and jump from the floor, clutching onto the dagger as I frantically look around my mom's room. Isaac shoots up beside me with his claws extended but then we realize there was no danger.
We look up to see the frown on my mom's face. "What do you think you guys are doing?" She asks, no longer laying down on her bed.
"Uh...we were watching over you." Isaac trails, slowly making his claws disappear.
"We wanted to make sure you weren't the third sacrifice," I say then place the dagger on her dresser.
"But both of you were asleep." She crosses her arms.
I turn to Isaac. "Weren't you on watch last?"
"What are you talking about, you were supposed to be on watch last," Isaac says as he tiredly rubbed his eyes.
"No, you were supposed to be on watch last," I say and point to the empty coffee cup. "Remember I made that for you so you could stay up longer?"
The realization fills his face and he turns to my mom. "I might have been on watch last."
I pinch the bridge of my nose. "Sometimes I question whether Stiles is smarter than you."
"I ask myself the same thing about you." Isaac fires back.
I was about to add another comment until my mom chuckles, causing Isaac and me to turn back to her. "My heroes." She sarcastically smiles, stretching her arms with a small yawn. "Wait, didn't you say that they were all doctors? I don't know if you knew this but I'm not a doctor so I think I'm in the clear."
"It can be any kind of healer, mom. Especially with yesterday, you and Melissa definitely fall under the healer category." I say, taking a seat on the foot of her bed.
"Yeah well, I dare someone try to make me their human sacrifice today" She scoffs and pulls the covers off of her body. "so both of you get your butts to school."
Isaac and I quickly exit her room but I shut the door behind us. Isaac was about to go to his room but I grab his arm.
"I need you to do me a favor," I say and he nods. "Can you skip school today and go to the loft to keep an eye on Cora? I'll call the school and say you had a migraine or something."
"Not that I don't mind skipping," He says as we walk down the stairs. "but why me?"
"I trust you." I shrug. "And cause my mom would kill me if she found out I skipped. She'll go easy on you since you're our somewhat guest."
He rolls his eyes with a chuckle. "To think I thought you were being generous."
I point to his room. "Well you're living here, aren't you?"
"Touché."

"Good morning. As you all know, Mr. Harris is still missing--" Ms. Blake's eyes widen. "I mean, sick. Anyway, I'm filling in while we all hope and pray for a more qualified substitute to take my place as the chemistry teacher. Let's get started, shall we?"
"So the two doctors went missing?" Allison whispers to me as we start writing our notes.
"Yeah but Stiles' dad said that the E.R Attending wasn't strangled but he died from asphyxiation. They just don't know how." I explain.
"Do you think the on-call doctor could still be alive since they technically never found her?"
"I have no clue. There's got to be at least twenty other doctors in that hospital. Any one of them could be next." I say but then Scott shoots up from his seat.
"Ms. Blake, can I see the nurse?" Scott asks, covering his nose with his hand. "I have a nosebleed." He briefly shows his bloody hand and she nods immediately.
Scott quickly collects his things and bolts out of the room, shutting the door behind him. I feel my phone buzz in my pocket and I discreetly pull it out from my pocket.
Stiles🤨
deaton is the next victim. scott went to the clinic. heading over there after class.
{9:06 am}
I show Allison the text message and her eyes widen. I shove my phone back in my pocket and continue writing down the notes just in case Ms. Blake was watching.
"Deaton's going to be the next victim?" Allison whispers. "Does that mean they only need one more?"
"Depends if they find Dr. Hilliard," I glance worriedly at her. "But...I think I'm next."
She tenses and turns to me. "How do you know?"
"Allison, I can heal myself and other people. I wouldn't be surprised if I was on the Darach's healers list."
"You're not on his list. If you are," She looks up to make sure Ms. Blake had her back turned before she pulls down her boot to show the hilt of her dagger. "they'll have to go through me first."
My eyes dart between the dagger and her eyes. "Did you seriously bring a weapon to school?" I ask as she rolls up her boot.
"This isn't my only one. I have one in my locker, gym locker, my purse, and my car." She listed off with a small shrug. "You always have to prepare for the worst, you know."
"You're crazy," I whisper and she innocently smiled. "No seriously, you're crazy."
"Miss Flores, Miss Argent." We look away from each other and see Ms. Blake looking at us with her arms crossed. "Would you like to share your interesting conversation with the class?"
"No." Allison and I mumble.
Once the bell rang for break, I collected my things from the table before quickly leaving the classroom.
"Olivia wait!" Stiles calls out as I push open the doors to leave the school. "Where are you--"
"Clinic. You coming?" I say, not even bothering to turn around.
"I don't want to waste my gas." He mutters and walks over to the passenger's side. I start the ignition and quickly pull out of the parking lot.
I sped my car through the streets and somehow made it to the clinic within five minutes, ignoring the complaints that escaped from Stiles' mouth.
"Next time," Stiles pants as he steps out of the car. "I'm driving."
I roll my eyes and walk towards the entrance to the clinic. I push open the doors and see Noah pat Scott's back.
"We're gonna do everything we can. Right now, the best thing you can do is go back to school." He says before walking away to talk to the other officer.
Scott notices us come in and gestures for us to follow him in the cat room. He shuts the door behind us and he crosses his arms.
"We have to tell him."
"You mean like, tell him, tell him or tell him something else that isn't telling him what I think you want to tell him?" Stiles asks.
"You know what I mean."
"You remember how your mom reacted? She didn't look you in the eye for like a week." He says then points to Olivia. "Olivia's mom literally keeps a gun in her room now."
"But then my mom got over it," Scott says and I nod in agreement.
"I mean, she asks a lot of questions but she wants to be prepared for the worst," I add. "Honestly, I feel like it brought us closer."
"I don't know, guys. I mean, look at him." We turn to see his dad with a worried expression as he talks to the officer. "He's completely overwhelmed as it is."
"He's overwhelmed because he has no clue what's happening. He's got people dying in his town, the town that he's supposed to protect, and it's not his fault that he doesn't know what's happening." Scott says.
"Stiles, he's gonna find out sooner or later," I say but Stiles shakes his head.
"Is now really the right time?"
"What if not telling him now gets someone else killed?" Scott asks.
"What if telling him gets him killed, huh?" He retorts. "I get that Deaton's been like a father to you, but this is my actual father. I can't..." He wipes his face with his hand in frustration. "I can't lose both of my parents. Not both of them."
From the time I knew Stiles, I never gained the courage to ask him about his mom. I already knew that something must have happened that horribly affected him and his father, but it was obvious that it was a touchy subject.
"You're right," Scott says and Stiles looks taken aback at his response but shakes his head.
"No, I'm not. I'm not right." He says and glances at me. "I'll tell him a-and."
I pat his arm. "We'll help you." I give a small smile.
Scott opens the door for us and we walk out of the room, but a woman's voice catches our attention.
The woman talking to the sheriff and the other cop turned out to be Ms. Morell. "Please, whatever you need. However, you can help find my brother."
Wait, brother?
"Will you excuse us for a moment?" Sheriff says and walks out of the clinic with the other officer in tow.
Ms. Morell walks towards us, looking back to make sure the officers weren't eavesdropping before turning to the three of us.
"Listen closely, no sheriff, deputy, or detective is going to be able to find him." She whispers so only the three of us would hear.
"You don't have to ask us for help," Scott says.
"Actually I'm trying to help you," She says and I cross my arms. "because if you're going to find my brother then you need to use the one person who might actually have an ability to seek out the supernatural."
I look at Stiles and Scott with disbelief. "She's talking about Lydia."
