[ Few years later]

I can't believe I am doing this. 3 years of us and this is how it ends.As the moon cast its silver light over the quiet streets, I sat at my desk, pen in hand, the weight of my decision heavy on my heart. I knew that I  couldn't simply vanish without a trace, leaving Dev to wonder what had become of me. He deserved closure, even if it meant breaking his heart in the process.

With trembling hands, I  began to write, each word a painful reminder of the love I  was leaving behind. I poured my heart into the letter, knowing that no amount of words could ever truly convey the depth of my feelings.

"Dev," I began, my  handwriting shaky but resolute.
"I don't know how to begin this letter, or even if I should..
You know that I love you, right?
I want you to understand one thing, I am only doing this because it is the only thing I can do right now. Remember when I told you, I loved you a little too much to leave you. I think I love you a little too much for leaving you.Please understand that this decision is not a reflection of you or your worth. You are an incredible person, and you deserve nothing but happiness and love.
I am leaving this letter and the spare key to your apartment on the kitchen counter, knowing that you will find them when the time is right.
Please find someone better to love.
I love you and I always will. No matter where you are I will always be proud of you, champ.
Please take care of yourself for me.

Tears streamed down my face as I clutched the necklace around my neck, recounting our shared memories and the love we had once shared. I needed Dev to move on with his life and find happiness, even if it meant hating me for eternity.

I prayed that Dev would find the strength to hate her, to move on with his life and find the happiness he deserved.

I can't shake the feeling of emptiness that consumed me from within. I had made my choice, but at what cost? And as I stared aimlessly at the ceiling, my heart heavy with sorrow, I  couldn't help but wonder if I would ever find peace again.
