Chapter 27

"D*mn, Tim is going to be pissed.' Adam thinks to himself as he looks down at the shopping cart.

Kelsey was loading it with everything and anything that she thought the couple would need. Dishes, silverware, coffee mugs, blinds and curtains for each window, bedding, water, snacks, beer, soft drinks, and that is just to name a few of the things that he sees in the cart.

"Let's see.." Kelsey says as she checks over her list. "We still have to get you guys a small refrigerator, table, and chairs, and you mentioned a bookshelf."

"Shouldn't Tim be here to help pick out any furniture?" Adam asks. He was really getting tired. It had been an all shopping trip and he was exhausted.

"Nonsense. Tim will love anything that you pick out." She replies as they head to the counter to check out.

Adam's eyes widen in horror as he sees the total. Yep, Tim was definitely going to kill him for sure. He reaches into his back pocket for his wallet. Tim had given him the credit card but added 'Go easy on it'.

"Put that away. I got this." Kelsey says as she hands the cashier her card.

Honestly? Adam was quite relieved but knew it was polite to argue.

"Kelsey, you don't have to do this." Adam says as he quickly puts his wallet away.

"You guys are going to need that to live on until you find jobs." Kelsey states as they head for Tim's truck.

Putting the stuff in the back seat, Adam climbs into the driver's seat.

"Are we done?" Adam asks, hoping that 'yes' was the answer.

"Nope." Kelsey giggles. "We still need a few things from that furniture store that we saw as we were coming into town."

"Oh, alright." Adam nods as he pulls out of the parking lot. God, he hated shopping!

Before leaving their house, Kelsey had taken a picture of the couch that Dena had given Tim. They definitely needed a love seat to match.

"Kelsey, we already have a couch." Adam says as he sees Kelsey heading in the direction of the living room suits.

"I know, but you need a love seat to match." Kelsey says.

"But our living room ain't that big." Adam says with a slight roll of his eyes as he follows behind her.

"Okay, then. A recliner." She replies as she tries to match one with the color of the couch.

"Can I help you find something?" An employee asks.

"Yes, I need a recliner that would go good with this couch." Kelsey says as she shows the employee the picture.

Adam shakes his head. He knew he was fighting a losing battle with Kelsey. He figured the least he could do was go pick out a small refrigerator. If he left it up to her, she would pick out the biggest and most expensive one that the store had and they didn't need it.

"Kel, I'm going to go look at the refrigerators." Adam tells her before walking away.

After picking out the perfect recliner to match the couch, Kelsey joins Adam over in the appliance department. Adam was looking at a very small apartment size fridge. The kind that you might find in a hotel room. Kelsey would prefer a larger one but she did agree that since their meals would be at the train station that a small one would be all they would need.

Adam was surprised that Kelsey agreed on the one that he picked out.

"Tim mentioned something about needing a bookshelf." Kelsey says as they walk through the store.

"Yeah, he reads a lot." Adam nods.

"Wow, this one is beautiful." Kelsey says as she runs her hand along the beautiful carvings.

'WOW!' Adam mouths as he sees the price tag. $2,800!!! JUST TO PUT BOOKS ON!!!! Ridiculous!! Tim would have a serious breakdown. Considering there was one sitting next to it that might not have been as fancy but the price was a lot better. $550.

"Yeah, it's pretty but we don't need one that fancy." Adam says as he tries to pull her attention to the much cheaper one. "This one will do the job."

"Are you sure?" Kelsey asks.

"Positive." Adam answers quickly then turns his attention to the salesman. "We'll take this one."

They find a small table with two chairs. It was perfect for their small kitchen.

As the workers load everything into the back of Tim's truck, Adam sends his boyfriend a quick text:

A- We're heading home. FINALLY!!!
T- That bad?? LOL
A- You wouldn't EVEN believe how bad. Please, don't be mad.
T- ??????
A- You'll see.
T- Oh, sh*t!!!
A- Love you.
T- Love you too. Be careful.
A- :)

All the houses were finished and everyone had moved into their homes.

Avi had bought a large greenhouse. He was to be in charge of growing vegetables/fruits for their little community. Being in the desert, it would be a full-time job caring for the plants. Chris had some gardening experience too so it was decided that he would help.

The company that he had bought the greenhouse from would come out and set everything up. The group was trying to find the perfect place for it. It had to have easy access to water. Maybe later, they could have waterlines run to it.

"There's your misses, Tim." Chance chuckles as he sees Tim's truck coming up the road.

"Ho.ly crap." Tim says quietly as he sees the furniture in the back of his truck.

He slowly makes his way over to the truck as Adam pulls up to their house. Adam had a somewhat panicky look on his face.

Without saying a word, Tim walks up to the back of the truck and eyes all the furniture. Rob starts to help Kelsey unload everything from the backseat. The brunette watches as they tote armload after armload into the house.

Adam stands quietly beside him counting down the seconds before Tim explodes and strangles him. He tries to think of anything that would possibly keep his lover from reading his mind. The weather, the greenhouse that was coming soon, rattlesnakes, the f*cking Energizer Bunny. Anything!!

Tim slowly turns his head toward the blonde and raises a brow.

"Okay, let me explain." Adam says nervously as his eyes meet his lover's.

"You wouldn't have to if you weren't thinking about some d*mn pink rabbit." Tim says.

Adam takes Tim by the arm and pulls him away from the truck so that no one would hear them.

"Kelsey bought everything. She wouldn't even think of allowing me to pay for anything." Adam whispers softly.

"D*mn good thing. That stuff looks expensive." Tim says, glancing around at the truck.

"You should have seen the price tag on the bookshelf that she wanted to get. Almost $3,000!!" Adam says.

"Seriously? Was the f*cking thing made of gold?" Tim asks.

"No, it just had some fancy carvings on it." Adam answers. "The one I got her to agree on was still $550."

"I could have made do with a $30 shelf from Wal-mart." Tim chuckles softly. "But I guess, if you're rich you might as well flaunt it."

"I just didn't want you to be mad at me for all this stuff." Adam says with a nervous smile.

"Of course not, Sweetie, I'm just glad that I didn't have to go." Tim chuckles as he walks back to his truck.

"Asshole." Adam says quietly.

"I heard that." Tim laughs.
