6.
The rest of the time Demi just trained the Dauntless initiates. We skip to when Tris finally gets through her initiation.
-----------------------------
A month or so later...
The training is almost over for the other initiates. I am proud.
As I walk through the hallway to the Pit, I suddenly see a brown haired girl standing in the end of the hallway, and it takes me less than a second to realize who it is. Nadine.
"H-Hey." I say. Her glare is as cold as everyday. "Hey." She says emotionless. It's awkward for just a moment, until she starts talking. ''You kno you can't change me?'' She spits. ''Of course I know. I just thought that we had some catching up to do, after a long time not talking.'' I answer, just on the same tone she talks. Maybe using it against her will help a little. ''Catching up... Are you being serious now, Demi?'' Nadine asks. I look away. ''Yes. Catching up. Tell me. Why are you acting like this? Since when? Why do you keep acting like you don't care?!'' I spit. The only thing Nadine does is giggle. ''Because I indeed don't care.'' She smiles, arms crossed. I sigh. ''What happened to you?! Do you even realize what you have done?!'' I ask. Nadine sighs. ''So what, I shot Cam. Who cares, nobody actually saw him standing anyway.'' My eyes can only grow big and fill up with tears. ''Then I guess you indeed can't be fixed. But I shall tell you, Nadine. If you keep being like this, you'll loose me.'' I say. I turn around and walk away. Behind me I hear a little gasp, and then: ''The hell?'' I stand still. Indeed... The hell... I turn around. Nadine looks around, confused. ''D-Demi?'' She asks, glaring at me with a confused look. ''What the hell just happened to me?'' She asks. I glare at her, expecting for it to be a joke. Expecting her to attack me. But no. She is believable confused. ''I... I don't know.'' I say. She glares at me. ''D-Did you know what happened to me?'' She asks. I lift my shoulders, but shake my head at the same moment. ''You were acting so...cold.'' I say. She glares at me, and a little smile appears on her face. ''I was acting cold? I would never!'' She says. She doesn't know. Something made her forget. Something made her forget everything. ''So... I guess you forgot.'' I say. Nadine smiles and shakes her head. ''Huh?'' She smiles. My face turns dead serious. ''You don't know...'' I say. Nadine now turns serious. ''Demi? What are you talking about?'' She asks, clearly confused. I take a deep breath. ''C-Cam...'' I say. She looks with a glare of expectation. ''Yes, where is he?'' She asks, looking around, expecting him to walk around the corner any moment. Expecting him alive... ''C-Cam... He... I am sorry, Nadine... He is dead.'' I say. She lets out a gasp. Then her eyes become big, and they start to fill up with tears. ''Cam is... D-Dea-...'' She stutters. ''Yes.'' I say. I am surprised that she didn't break down aleady. Maybe that has to come still. ''H-How? What happened?!'' She gasps. I sigh. Should I tell her? Should I make her feel guilty? But... She has to know the truth anyways. Even if I didn't tell her, she would've found out already. ''Y-You killed him, Nadine... You shot him...'' I say, feeling sorry for her to hear it. ''I-I... I SHOT him?!'' She says, now panicked. She falls on her knees to the ground. ''I killed him. I KILLED HIM!'' She breaks down. The tears fall off her cheeks and it's hard to see her like this. But I can't help her. I am in just as many tears. ''I... I never thought I would get you back...'' I say, with a little smile that is hard to see. ''That's not the problem anymore. I killed Cam. I KILLED him, Demi. A childhood friend! The only friend who came with us to Dauntless! DEAD!'' She screams. She lays her head on the concrete floor and puts her hand over her head. I can hear her break down. But still, an arm around her wouldn't be an answer. He is dead already. Nadine looks up. She looks at me with her swollen eyes. ''Why did I do it?!'' She asks, panicked. ''I don't even know either.'' I say, with tears in my eyes too. ''I... I am a murderer...'' Nadine says. ''What would Charity think of me?!'' Oh yeah. Charity... ''I mean, the others don't even know that he is dead!'' She says. I finally got the courage to walk over to her, and put an arm around her. I help her up. ''Nadine, calm down. I forgive you. You didn't know what you were doing. Listen to me...'' I say. Nadine sits down on the ground and looks at me. ''Calm down... I murdered my best friend!'' She cries, but keeps looking at me. I nod. ''I know. I know... And I was sad that you did. But... You don't remember it, that means that you didn't knew what you were doing. So I forgive you.'' I say. She takes a deep breath. ''H-How can you f-forgive me for s-something h-horrible like this?!'' She stutters. I sigh. ''Because I've known you all my life, Brownie.'' I say, with a little smile through my tears. Nadine smiles and stands up. ''Brownie... Since when are you starting the Amity nicknames again?'' She laughs. I lift my shoulders. Ever since Nadine and I are friends, I call her Brownie sometimes. It was because of her hair, that had the color of a chocolate brownie. I laugh. ''Come on. Wipe your tears, Nadia. We have to go to the canteen. They will announche the rankings from this year. I have to be there for my initiates.'' I say. Nadine smiles and nods. Then she wipes away her tears, and we walk to the canteen.
I smile proudly at the Dauntless ones who made it through. Lynn, Uriah and Marlene. I look at the initiates from Four and Eric who made it through. Tris became first. The Stiff... Wow. Abnegation shouldn't be so underestimated.
