16. Nadine's POV
Before I can even blink me eye, I get thrown into a cell and locked up. What in the world do they want from me?! ''Let me out!'' I scream. I know it doesn't help. It's Jeanine and her stupid thing about Divergents. I have been stupid! I have shown my Divergence at the test and at Dauntless. I hate these curious stereotypes, who alreay know something about you before you know it yourself. It's like I don't have privacy in my life anymore, like a celebrity. But not a good celebrity. The one that is gossiped about, and gets all the hate. I sit up against the wall and stare blankly at the door.
Ten minutes later, it bursts open. Out of shock I press my back against the wall, seeing Eric walk in. I start to boil of anger. He got me in this situation. He got us all in this situation. He sees the hate in my eyes but he smirks. ''Our dear Nadine. You screwed up. Welcome to Erudite, Divergent.'' he says. I am shocked. How does he know?! It doesn't matter now, actually. I am already locked up. It's already over for me. The guards next to him walk over to me, and grab me by my arm roughly. I try to get away from their grip, but that will not work. I should just let it be. They lead me out of my room, as I suddenly notice someone standing in the cell next to mine. She looks way too young. Suddenly I remember her face. Little Luna. No. No, they couldn't have taken her too! I try to reach at her cell, but she just stands there, staring blankly at me. Does she remember me? Or have they done something terrible to her?! I watch her until I've disappeared around the corner.
The first thing I see as I become calm is her. The woman who turned this all into a disaster. Jeanine Matthews. Erudite leader. "Hello Nadine. Nadia Keller." she smirks. I frown. It has been a while since anybody used my old name. I like Nadine more, so it irritates me that she used Nadia. She stands there, confident, in her blue Erudite clothes. But she has to be reminded that I am confident too, and not scared of whatever she is going to bring to me. Sometimes I wished I stayed at Candor with Demi. But then I realize I never would have seen Charity back. I sigh, while Jeanine writes something down, then she looks back. ''Do you know what is going to happen, Nadia?'' she asks. I just shrug, because I don't know anything anymore. Jeanine lets out a slight chuckle. ''You know. You just can't admit that it's going to happen to that Divergent friend of yours. What was her name again? Demi?'' she smiles. Once I hear her name, a huge pain goes through my chest. A positive pain. And a negative pain. It's all her fault that we are in this. But... Jeanine is going to hurt her. Why not me? Am I not Divergent enough...? ''You might ask why you are nessecary here now, Nadia. It's because we need you to help us find her. She is one hundred percent, just like the other Divergent everyone is talking about. People just don't talk about Demi that much then Tris.'' she says. It might be weird, but my mind goes blank once I hear the name Tris. Then I remember that there was a rumor about a girl called Tris Prior who transferred from Abnegation from Dauntless, who was Divergent, and who stopped the simulation. What I'm thankful for. The simulation made Demi almost have to shoot Grace, and Quin would have shot innocent people also. Jeanine glares at me. I think back at what Jeanine said about helping her find Demi. I can't do that. Not to a friend. She would never forgive me. But... Because of her, I left Amity for Dauntless. It was her who went with Cameron every single time. And because of her I shot him. So this is all my fault?! No, it's hers! This is what she deserves! ''Okay.'' I say. ''I'm in.''
