"Okay calm down now, Demi." Beth shushes me. I try. But I can't. I look in the mirror and back to the sink. Beth looks at me. "You know what's gonna happen, don't you?" she sighs. I nod. My knuckles become white. "I don't think Erden will play this nice." I say. "I think she knows not only that you are it, but that we are both." "Since one of my results is Candor, I had to say it." she says, and I won't blame her. The earlier I know, the better. "What the hell does she want?" I mutter. "Divergents. Just like her brother." Beth sighs. "She is thirsty for our blood." "Sounds like a Barbie Vampire..." I frown. Beth chuckles, then she frowns. "What are you going to do now, Demi?" she asks seriously. I stare in the distance. Then I stand up in a snap. "I am going to go back to Amity, and I will make sure Nadine and Charity get the hell out of there." I state. "Will you come with me, Beth?" She frowns and I know she hesitates inside her head. But then she nods. "I can't let another Divergent die." she says, smiling a little uncomfortable. I understand her. It's just the fact that another one died that makes me sick. Jeanine... I am killing her off in my head every time she appears there...
I throw a pillow towards Beth's head, on what she immediately looks up. Her eyes are half closed. "Wake up you sleepyhead. We need to get out before everyone else." I say. She sighs. "Oh yeah. Of course." She stands up and dresses in her normal Dauntless clothes. I put my hair in an Amity braid. Oh Lord how I missed that...
Beth has her ponytail in and stands there, ready to go. I put on my jacket, load my gun and hide it under my jacket not to get caught with it on the streets. "So what is it like," Beth asks. "at Amity." "Fun. Mostly." I giggle. Beth laughs. "Can't imagine it. But hey, I wasn't born there." she smiles while loading her gun too and hiding it. "Let's go." I smirk.
As far as I can see, there is not anyone to be seen here. Beth and I just walk like we are normal Dauntless girls who are on their way to a "dangerous job". Yes we are. Waaay too dangerous. As I stop and lean against a wall for a minute, Beth looks at me. "Are you okay?" she asks. I shrug. I don't want to lie. I don't feel fully okay. I want everything to be okay again. I want everyone to be together and alive again. I want our old group back. I want... I-I want... I want Cam.
"I had one too, you know?" she says, as if she could freaking read my mind! "His name was Jaylen. They shot him because they thought he was a Divergent. When people were asking how, they told them it was suicide..." Oh my god. What those people do to catch us. It's disgusts me. "It was my best friend," I sigh. "under control of Erden's brother." Beth frowns and I know what she thinks of. Each time she wants more revenge. Eric and Erden aren't both so welcomed. The fact only that Eric kissed me, only to kill my best friend out of jealousy. I hold a hand on my forehead and breathe in and out for a couple seconds. Don't worry about it now, Demi. Worry about Nadine at Amity. I reload my gun and look at Beth. ''Come on,'' I say. ''we have to go. They're coming.'' And a second later the loud noises of cars fills the street. Beth and I run, and I feel my heart beat in my chest as I hear screams and footsteps coming after us. They know we left. How did they know?! Bullets get shot short after, and I start to panic again but I can't stop running. The bullets fly past our heads and one hits Beth's leg. She screams, and I immediately push her into and alley. ''You okay?!'' I ask. She shakes her head. No of course not. She has a freaking bullet in her leg, Demi. The blood comes from under her trouser leg, and it makes me sick at first, but then I help her up. The guys who followed us have stopped shooting, but I know like hell that they are aiming their guns at us at the beginning of the alley. I look around of an answer, then I rip off a piece of my clothes and put it around her leg. The bullet isn't out there, of course it isn't. But this'll do. The other side of the alley has - oh my god yes! - another exit. I am pretty disappointed that Amity is at the other side of the city. We would have to go by train but Beth just got shot in her leg. Walking isn't also a good option. We are stuck here.
My mind gets interrupted.
We hear a screaming, causing both Beth and me to look at the entrance of the alley we just walked in. A loud sound of an explosion follows next. I press my back against the wall out of shock, grabbing my gun immediately and pointing it at the direction it came from. One final canon shot shortly follows after, then a figure appears around the corner. It's a he, seeing from his posture. He slowly walks back, looking at something on the ground; I suppose a body. Then he turns at us, and I still keep my gun up. He walks into the alley. ''Calm down.'' he says. He looks young. Couldn't be older than me. I think he is only one year older actually. Eighteen. Whatever. ''I am not going to hurt you. I just want to help.'' he says, out of breath. There is a bleeding scar on his forhead and little marks over his whole face. ''How are you going to help us?'' I sigh, out of breath. He smirks. ''I saw your friend getting shot in the leg. If you follow me, I could help her take care of it. I could help take care of both of you.'' he smiles at us. I look at Beth, who is tired out and breathing heavily, and then back to the boy. ''My name is Quentin Price. I'm from Factionless. Well, originally from Dauntless. But we all know what happened.'' he smirks. I sigh. I don't know what to do. ''My friends and I could help her get on that train, you know. We could help you get to Amity.'' ''Hold on, your friends?!'' I ask. Quentin nods. ''Yeah. My friends from Factionless. Some where Dauntless too, you know... Well, almost.'' he smirks again. I glare at him. I wait for an answer to what he means, but I later just realize it. A little group of Factionless appear behind him. I look at them. All of them... No. H-How?!
''Calvin?!''
