CHAPTER FIVE: NOT LETTING YOU GO

May 5, 2003

 It’s now early May, and No Rules had just finished taping the music video for their new single, Let Me Go. When the NR members returned to their house after filming, they got a voicemail message from one of their managers, Logan.

 He said, “No Rules, next Monday you’ll start taping Dare 2 Dream. You’ll be using songs that never made to your first album. Also, you’ll start promoting your new single, Let Me Go, starting on Wednesday on GMTV. Also, you’ll be promoting your single in other countries. I’ll give you more updates tomorrow. Goodbye.”

 The members were happy, but too tired to celebrate. So they went to bed.

 The next day, the NR members were at the boardroom, awaiting to hear more news. They were still tired from filming their music video. Just then, the managers entered the boardroom. They looked frustrated.

 Edward asked, “Is everything okay?”

 Logan replied, “Bad news. Epic and Sony have just banned us from using reject songs from No Rules.”

 Peter added, “On top of that, No Rules is banned from promoting Let Me Go worldwide. Once again, this is Epic and Sony’s doing.”

 The member weren’t too happy to hear this. Edward said out of irritation, “So really, we’re banned from filming Dare 2 Dream? Can’t we film the series without the songs?”

 Peter said, “We suggested that to them, but they said no. So yes, we’re banned.”

 Ashley, also irritated, asked, “And we can’t promote Let Me Go in other countries except England?”

 Edward asked angrily, “Can’t you two do anything to help us? You are our managers!”

 Logan, being irritable, said, “Look, we’re doing as much as we can! But you must remember that Peter and I have other projects. It’s bad enough that Peter has other big projects, and he has to travel between America and Britain. Now we have to deal with problems with the record labels.”

 Peter said “We’ll see what we can do. But for now, just promote Let Me Go. Okay?”

 NR reluctantly agreed, and left the boardroom.

 NR arrived at their house, tired and angry. Edward said, “I can’t believe this! We keep getting banned!”

 Ashley said, “Like I said, there’s something suspicious going on.”

 After a few hours, the members got a call from Logan. They put the phone on speakerphone. He told them, “Okay, there IS a way to get your new music to other countries. I looked into your contracts with Dillon, Epic, and Sony. Since you’re with Dillon, Peter and I are allowing you to go promote your music worldwide.”

 The NR members were ecstatic. But then he warned, “But here’s the catch: Epic and Sony owns your music, but you’re with Dillon. So we must not announce your TV gigs. The presenters must not announce your performances and interviews. Understood?”

 The NR members agreed, and then hung up. Sophie said nervously, “Well, erm, things worked out. Kind of.”

 Edward said calmly, “But we still can’t film our TV series, and we’re now in hiding whilst promoting our music.”

 With that, Hannah ran to her room, grabbed her laptop, and went into her closet. She decided to IM Jake.

 HannahNORULES: jakey, u there?

 JakeSKATE5: yea, I’m here. Wat is it?”

 HannahNORULES: ok, I need 2 kno the truth. Did kimmy announce any more plots to destroy nr?

 JakeSKATE5: no, not that I kno of. Y?

 HannahNORULES: I think she is. Apparently this whole ‘burn-alex-out-whilst-burning-out-nr’ plot failed bcuz our music sound exactly lk skate5, alex n Ashley r strangely not on a lot of songs, we sound robotic whilst sounding like a bunch of other singers, n we can’t film dare2dream cuz our labels have banned us from using all of our songs. We can’t even promote our new music worldwide, we have to do it secretly. Somehow.

 A few minutes later, Jake responded.

 JakeSKATE5: u got a point. ok, I’ll see what I can do. It does seem lk sumthing kimmy may have plotted. n yea, the plot to burn the no rules failed. Just hang tight, ok? I’ll try to keep track of everything.

 HannahNORULES: plz find out soon.

 JakeSKATE5: I will.

 Then Hannah and Jake logged off. She thought to herself, If Kimmy is the one responsible, how am I gonna tell the No Rules without them finding out I’ve been talking to Jake?
