Chapter15: Saving No Rules

CHAPTER FIFTEEN: SAVING NO RULES

July 22, 2004

It’s now July, and skate5 are getting ready to premiere a new song from their up-coming sixth CD. Kimmy was on her laptop, reading what skate5 fans are talking about. In all the fan forums, the fans are talking about how they’re everything they can to save No Rules. She was furious from what she was reading.

Here’s how it went down: After NR’s single, Not This Time, failed to make the top 10 singles chart, some fans started a project called savenorules.co.uk. It was out of fear that NR might be splitting up. After the members announced they were picked up by EMI Records, all the fans were happy. Then they heard that NR were suing Epic to transfer the music rights to them since they changed labels.

The fans decided to change their strategy; give the music back to NR. They thought progress was being made when they found out NR got the reject songs and b-sides, but the lawsuit was stalled since Epic refused to give the music from the first two albums.

So the fans decided to do a petition to force Epic to give the rest of the music to NR. The petition gained a lot of support from fans from all over the world. Soon it gained more support from fans of other British pop bands; the bands themselves; then the solo artists; eventually pop music stars from Europe, North America, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Israel, and Mexico.

Everyone was pressuring Epic to give all the music back NR. Even those who were signed with Epic are threatening a strike! As for No Rules themselves, they knew what’s going on. They’re actually overwhelmed by the international support they’ve gained.

Now back to skate5. As Kimmy was reading the comments, she found out that Jake, Libby, Matt, and Chelsea voiced their support for NR. She cussed out loudly.

Matt asked out of irritation, “What is it, Kimberly?”

Kimmy asked furiously, “YOU LOT SUPPORT MORE RULES!?!”

Libby said angrily, “At this point, we hate how you treat No Rules! It’s stupid, it’s pointless, and it needs to stop!”

Kimmy scoffed, “You’re just saying that cuz you’re ‘related’ to that arrogant metro-jerk.”

Jake said angrily, “No! Libby’s right! We’ve had enough of your behaviour! We all feel No Rules is different from all the mixed-gender bands. We feel they deserve to be a global sensation. They’re fighting so hard despite the fact they have so many projects. Our time is up, and it’s time to give No Rules the limelight.”

Kimmy was furious, so she stormed out of the TV studio. She angrily drove to Epic Records to talk to the CEO of the record label. She barged into the CEO’s office.

She said angrily, “You damn well better not give those songs to No Rules.”

The CEO said with an irritated tone, “Look, I don’t have time for this. I’m giving everything No Rules had with Epic to them. As much as I want No Rules to not have the songs and their franchise, I must due to international pressure. So if you excuse me, I‘m going to let No Rules win the lawsuit.”

With that, the CEO left his office. He got security to force Kimmy out of his office.

A few days later, NR were having a free concert at Wembley Stadium. Since their performance at a music festival at Wales, the members were invited to other music festivals, including the Glastonbury Festival. Soon NR’s mini-concerts became hugely popular. Eventually their managers allowed the members to hold their concerts at well-known nightclubs.

Now NR were holding a free, large-scale concert at Wembley Stadium. They performed their singles, and the four new songs. They were able to since they won the lawsuit. After it was over, the audience chanted ‘No Rules!’. The members were overwhelmed by this. Ever since they first came out in 2002, they never experienced this.

Then Edward made this announcement: “Get ready for the No Rules Revolution! We‘re back, better than ever!”

It was finally No Rules’ time. It’s the start of their comeback, which they (devised by their new marketing team) called the ‘No Rules Revolution’.
