3rd Person POV:

"I'm sorry..." Tears ran down her face as her voice became softer and softer repeating that same sentence.

"W-Wait!" He managed to get free of pearl's grasp on me as Steven ran over to her.

"STEVEN! NO!" Pearl shouted, but Steven didn't listen.

"Dioptase... I know you don't know us, and we hardly know you; but I want to help. That's what my mother used to do. She saw the beauty in everything! No matter how dark. So please... Can we just... Talk?"

"Steven... Why are you helping me...? Why are you trying to understand... I can't even understand! So just... Why?"

"Dioptase..." Steven said with a smile, "Welcome to Earth." He held out a hand as she grabbed it.

The gems were sitting on the couch as Dioptase told them about her past.

"Wow..." Garnet spoke up, "That is dark."

"To have homeworld do that to a human for eleven years..." Pear replied, "That's TERRIBLE!" Turning to Garnet with a shocked look in her eyes. "I knew homeworld was bad... But to do something as cruel as THAT is just... Just..."

"Siiiiick..." Amethyst said.

"Sickening would be a more proper word to use... But whatever! I guess..."

"And the worst part is, now that we know this... It really was never a war..." Said Dioptase, "But the reason I obey is because I want to be treated like a normal homeworld gem..." She looked down, playing with her thumbs.

"Oh Dioptase..." Pearl laid a hand on her shoulder, "Homeworld gems were never kind to humans OR the earth... Which is why we became Rebels..."

"T-that's okay!" Dioptase spoke up, lifting her head, "At least I can be loyal..."

"I know what will cheer you up!" Steven stood up, "How about we find some more people to talk too! Make some friends!"

"F-friends? What are 'friends'...?" Dioptase asked.

"You're about to find out!"
