You're clear
Jungkook kept crossing his legs. Right. Left. Right. Left. Back and forth till a large hand settled on his exposed knee. He followed the hand up, staring at the muscular arm of his best friend. His husband pulled his hand back up to the front seat. Jungkook smiled gently when Seokjin placed his husband's hand on his own lap. The two were always jealous of one another. If Namjoon had spent a few too many nights with Jungkook, Jin would either end up tagging along with them the next eight thousand times or the next time Jungkook saw Namjoon he'd be adorning several new questionable bruises. The same went for Jin. If Jin was caught being too sweet to anyone outside of the close knit family, Namjoon would make sure to be as overly affectionate as possible to prove that no one came close to Jin without going through the mountain that was Kim Namjoon. Jungkook had frequently been the unwilling witness to the couple's exhibitionism. Most often him and Jin had to aggressively apologize for Namjoon's ways.
Jungkook had spent a long time watching them. If there was any award he could win hands down in those pointless yearbook awards, it would probably be "Most successful third wheel". Jungkook was there when Namjoon needed a wing man. Jungkook had helped both of them when they needed advice on what to get each other on Valentine's day even though the really both just wanted to be together and presents didn't really matter to either of them. Jungkook had been the best man at the wedding. Though he wouldn't admit he had cried throughout most of the celebration, he would say that he had smiled and cheered both men on as the gave teary eyed vows. There was still so much stress in their lives at that time and yet they still managed to love one another.
Namjoon was just finishing his doctorates. Seokjin had just started his career with children, which would have been much harder to start if he were to search for a job after marrying another man. It wasn't illegal, but it certainly wasn't very normal to see an openly gay primary school teacher. Namjoon wouldn't have it as hard. He probably wouldn't even have to announce his sexuality all the time working there. Both of the men had suffered a lot before this marriage. Even so, they loved each other with their whole soul and somehow managed to drag Jungkook into their simple married life. Jungkook basically lived with the two. At this point the couple had basically adopted Jungkook as their own even though he was only a few years their younger.
"Behave yourself now, Jungkook. Listen to Joonie when he's instructing you. You studied this for years I know you can do this. Just keep a level head and-" Jungkook gave the elder a tired exspression as his dress shirt was fixed for him. Jin ran his hands over Jungkook's shirt, smoothing over all the wrinkles he told the younger to iron out earlier.
"Jin, I'm twenty years old you don't need to-"
"Did I say I was done yet?" Jungkook quickly put up his hands in surrender. Namjoon sighed and gently pushed Jin aside. Jin pouted up at the taller who returned the expression teasingly.
"Leave him be princess. He's not one of your babies at school." Jin glared at him harshly and Namjoon only stuck out his tongue in response. Jungkook chuckled, shaking his head at them both. The two lovingly insulted one another in whispers. Jungkook looked around the hallway, checking for any strangers waiting to spot the couple. It wasn't needed, but Jungkook did it regardless. It helped them all along if they cut to the chase. He knew the two well enough to predict where one of these whispered arguments went. The two brought there lips together as Jungkook softly mumbled,
"All clear."
"I basically never do anything new. I check on the same people everyday, discuss the same things everyday. It's not really that entertaining but at least all the patients are sweet. I think you'll really like them. You get to spend longer with them than I do anyway." Jungkook had been stuck following the older like a puppy. Both wore their lab coats, even though they were just for aesthetic purposes. It was odd to see someone he had known so long look different from his normal self. Namjoon's blond hair was still gelled back and he still had a gummy smile that made him look more like a child than the man he was; but to see his round lenses he so rarely wore on his face and to see him dressed so maturely was an uncomfortable sight. Dressed like this, Namjoon looked much more like older role model he had always actually been to Jungkook. He almost felt bad about his own looks thinking about it. He only had his crumpled white collar shirt to make him seem mature. He didn't own anything else so he had to make do with black jeans to tuck said shirt into. He looked more like a kid at his first job interview rather than a nurse at a mental hospital. It was silly, but he still hoped none of his patients would think of him as incapable simply because of his appearance.
Namjoon looked at the pile of papers in his hand before stopping Jungkook. He looked up to the elder and then to the door they stopped at. Namjoon smiled and set a hand on Jungkook's shoulder as they turned to the door.
"This is your first patient. Are you excited?" Namjoon grinned down at him. It wasn't so much a happy look but one to encourage Jungkook. "I can bring you in there, but I'll have to go after that. It's really simple. You just go in, keep your eye on them, and then leave when the next nurse comes in to take your place. You remember all the protocal?" Jungkook quickly nodded, shyly putting his hands in front if him. Namjoon clapped his back,
"Good, follow that, be kind, and have a careful mind and this day will go by smoothly." Jungkook nodded along as Namjoon explained the girl waiting for him in this room.
It was... simpler than he thought it would be. Most of his hour there was spent in silence watching tv with the girl or having awkward conversations. She wasn't stupid. She figured out the moment she looked at him that he was a new nurse who was just trying his best. In fact, because he was putting forth an effort it was clear he was very new to this. Really, Jungkook liked her. She had very tired eyes but she smiled so warmly. She spoke to Jungkook as though he was a child at his first day of school. At the end of his watch, she even wished him luck. Jungkook only grinned bashfully back at her. She made an odd kind of expression when he cooed back softly,
"Have a good night, you deserve it. "
In the end though, Jungkook just wanted to go home by his second to last patient.
