Chapter 11 - The Wedding

A marriage is considered to be the union of two people along with the association of their families, binding them into a legal bond in the eyes of both the law and God. Nobody can say that the vows of matrimony aren't absolute, in fact, these vows are the very essence of a married couple's relationship. The very reason why no one in this world has any right to part those whom the God have wed.

But as much as marriages are important phases in one's life, say an ending of a previous chapter or the beginning of a new one, not everyone's lucky enough to have their story get written with such a happy ending. So Chuuya can only question himself what he had done to be able to experience it.

Since childhood, Chuuya had believed he was never suited to have more than he deserved. And by deserved, to him, it meant what he truly wished for in life. Not that he wasn't content with what he has now, to be honest, the fact that he was alive was enough for him, but of course, he can't help but hope for more than he could imagine.

And of course, one of those was to be able to love someone as much as they love him. Live with them for the rest of eternity, tied by a vow to love and care for each other and never leave their side. He blames the romance books he's somehow gotten indulged in as a past time out of fucking curiosity, but he would guess there was nothing wrong to dream about something as--according to his Ane-san--pathetic as falling in love. Maybe the painful consequence that comes with it was enough to let him dream on to his heart's desire.

However, he never thought that the dream of falling in love had been made into reality, and at some point, he regretted it so badly. Why wouldn't he when the person of his devotion had been made into the form of one Dazai Osamu? The moment he realized he was in love with the man, he wished he could turn back the time and scold his past self, warn him how much his curiosity will only let him befall into a hell filled with unfortunate events.

Sadly, as they say, there's no use crying over spilt milk. Especially now that Dazai had just given him the most precious gift he could ever ask for; his son, Fumiya. With that in mind, he chose to fall into the dark pit and face the consequences of being Dazai's husband for as long as he'll have to live.

Well, it couldn't be all that bad. Dazai has his good points, too, especially since Fumiya came into their lives. Chuuya could see how much the man was trying his best to be a good father to their son, and the marriage proposal itself was enough to convince Chuuya that he was also trying his best to be a suitable partner for the ginger.

The more Chuuya thought about it, the more nervous he got that even drinking a cup of tea while watching the sun rise wasn't helping him at all. Until now, everything that occurred seemed to be just a dream and Chuuya'd wake up from it all one day. But as much as he knew it'd have been better that way, he was somewhat scared of it to happen. He was so confused. Because he was a mafioso, building a family was out of the question if you don't want to put them in harm's way. He knows that all too well, but surely there may be some exceptions with how his family was built in the first place, right?

A deep sigh escaped his lips "What the fuck am I even thinking?" he muttered to himself, sipping his cup of tea and trying to calm his nerves. To think, the fearless mafioso, Nakahara Chuuya, strongest martial artist in the Port Mafia who hardly even shivers during a battle, has his stomach churning over the idea of being married to the man he loves. Really, he couldn't help but chuckle at himself.

"Are you feeling okay, Chuuya?" Chuuya heard a female voice say from behind him and as he turned, he's met with Kouyou, her face filled with compassion.

"Uh, yeah. I'm fine. Thank you, Ane-san." Chuuya replied, managing a small smile at her.

But of course, because she'd known Chuuya since he was 15, she was aware of her pupil's emotions and actions, and right now, she could see Chuuya's uneasiness. Chuuya was practically an open book, everyone could almost read his intentions. But as much as readable as he is, Dazai was the only one that bothered to memorize each page from the said book.

"Are you feeling nervous?" Kouyou decided to ask.

"Well... a little?" Chuuya shrugged "I don't know, Ane-san. I've never felt so nervous before. Even during battles or missions, never have I shaken or felt uneasy. Do you think something's wrong with me?" the ginger questioned back.

"Relax, honey." Kouyou gave him a smile as she rested a reassuring hand on his shoulder "It's normal to be nervous when you're in an unfamiliar situation. Especially now. Today's one of the biggest turning points in your life so I suggest you savor the moment. The uneasy yet exciting mixed emotions you have right now. Because you won't get to experience it on any normal occasion." the older redhead explained.

Chuuya was, of course, still a little scared, but he took heed of his mentor's words like he always does. Giving a much honest smile, he whispered a soft "Thank you, Ane-san." before wrapping her in a tight hug, Kouyou hugging him back.

"Chuuya, it's time to get ready." Yosano called once the two had finished their emotional moment. Nodding, Chuuya returned to the hotel room where he and the other bridesmaids stayed for the night before the wedding.

Kouyou had requested for Chuuya to stay in a hotel for the night because it had been a custom that the bride and groom should not see each other a day before the wedding, or else it'd be bad luck. Instead of kicking Dazai out, Mori had offered to let Chuuya stay at a 5-star hotel he had reserved in at an earlier time for the occasion.

However, Chuuya refused to leave Fumiya in Dazai's and the other men's care, but according to Yosano, Chuuya would find it hard to relax before the wedding if he had Fumiya to take care of. So in the meantime, Atsushi was assigned to babysit Fumiya while he and the other groomsmen stayed with Dazai in the apartment. As much as the ginger tried to refute the request, it was futile when the no one was teaming up with him.

To make sure Chuuya was at ease, Atsushi gave text reports every hour about Fumiya's well-being, and that managed to help Chuuya relax no matter the circumstance.

Although, as much as the issue with Fumiya was fixed, Chuuya was still a bit disturbed of the fact that he had to wear a wedding dress instead of a suit for today. Why? Well because Dazai insisted and Fumiya was also interested in the idea. He didn't know what kind of conspiracy his dad had him put up, but the fact that Fumiya had teamed up with his father to make him wear a dress sounded almost unlike Fumiya. Perhaps the sneaky traits he got from his father was staring to wear on. Chuuya could only fear for the worst.

The dress wasn't that bad though. Of course, he had helped from Kouyou and Yosano to pick which would suit him better. But other than that, even Fumiya had a helping hand in the decision after the small brunette had personally chosen the dress when Kouyou and Yosano were having a hard time already.

The design was simple, it was like one tubed-top dress with a white, ivory fabric wrapped on the upper part. The sleeves were of a transparent chiffon fabric with a slit that reached the armpit and the dress itself was of satin. A transparent chiffon fabric had also been made use with the skirt like a design as the skirt was of a pencil-type. White gloves made of silk material were worn on his hands, black 2-inch heeled sandals and his veil was attached on his head by a red Camellia flower.

-*-*-

Dazai was awoken to tiny hands hitting his face, not as hard as a normal person would, but he could feel the pressure of those tiny hands trying to be forceful. The brunette groaned as he blinked several times to see the blurred silhouette of a kid with similar facial features as him "Fumiya...?" he groaned, blinking to clear his vision.

Dazai sat up but he could feel a throbbing sensation in his head as he did, a painful groan escaped his lips as he massaged his head "What is it? Are you hungry, buddy?" he managed to ask his son.

"Papa! Mama!" Fumiya hollered and as Dazai looked at him, he could see the small brunette looking rather furious, he couldn't think why though.

"Mama? What about Mama?" he groaned.

"Mama! Mama! Papa, Mama! Together today!" Fumiya continued to holler these words but to no avail, Dazai couldn't comprehend what his son was trying to say.

He scratched his head then shifted his attention only to be surprised to see Atsushi, Kunikida and the other Agency members and mafiosos sleeping inside the room--Atsushi and Kunikida were on the bed, sleeping on each side of Dazai, Tanizaki and Akutagawa were by their feet while Tachihara and Kajii lay on the cold floor, and they were dead asleep. It took Dazai about a minute with Fumiya hollering the words "Papa", "Mama" and "Together" to his father before it struck Dazai what today was.

"Oh damn! Today's the wedding, Fumiya!" Dazai yelled, at the top of his lungs in shock which seemed to have woken everyone asleep inside the room.

"Shuddup, man... I'm trying to sleep here!" Tachihara groaned out.

"Dazai-san? What is it?" Atsushi asked as he sat up, noticing Fumiya raising his hands at him, which meant he wanted upsies, so he took him in his arms.

"Atsushi-kun, Kunikida-kun! Everyone! Wake up! It's the wedding day! We're going to be late!" Dazai yelled out and that alarming note was what woke everyone up completely. They all began rushing around the place, getting themselves ready as fast as they could especially Dazai who was assisted by Akutagawa and Kunikida while Atsushi attended to Fumiya's needs.

The wedding was scheduled to start at 8 AM and the time was currently 7:45 AM, so they only had around 15 minutes of preparation left, plus the time to get to the chapel was around 10 minutes depending on the route. Kunikida was losing his mind because he had never been this behind schedule in his entire life and he blames Dazai just as much as Dazai blames himself.

Perhaps drinking 10 sake bottles 'til midnight was the worst bachelor's party idea he had ever thought of.

-*-*-

7:45 AM.

Chuuya and his company were already in the van and headed towards the chapel. Chuuya was silent the entire ride even as Kouyou, Yosano, Naomi and Higuchi were indulged in their conversations. Kyouka was also silent beside Chuuya while Gin only listened to the chit-chat and gave no comments. The ride was pretty fast and all, almost as fast as Chuuya's quickening heartbeat, and all the ginger could do was take deep breaths to calm himself.

However, the van came to a sudden stop as they had arrived at what seemed to be some kind of accident "What's going on?" Kouyou had asked when the van stopped.

"It seems there's a commotion. We've been caught in traffic." the driver had replied.

"Commotion? An accident?" Yosano guessed.

"I'll go check it out." Higuchi volunteered and was about to exit the vehicle when she was stopped by Yosano.

"It's okay. I'll handle this. This looks like a job for a detective agent." Yosano said, opening the van door and walking to check the scene.

Everyone waited silently in the car as they couldn't see clearly what was happening with the distance from the scene and the many vehicles in front of them. Minutes later, a huge explosion occurred, causing a few vehicles to get caught up and expand the damage. Chuuya responded immediately and used his ability to shield the entire van from the explosion that could cause any damage and harm.

"Is everyone okay?!" Chuuya asked once it calmed down a bit.

"We're fine." Naomi was the one to answer.

"But Yosano-sensei was probably caught in that explosion!" Kyouka pointed out.

"Then we have to help her. Who knows what lunatic would've triggered such a strong explosive?" Chuuya suggested, about to open the door when he was stopped by Kouyou.

"No, Chuuya. You stay here. Kyouka, and you--Naomi, was it?--look after him. Higuchi, Gin, come with me." was Kouyou's instructions and everyone but Chuuya replied with a 'Yes' before she and the other two mentioned left the vehicle.

"What the hell is going on?" Chuuya couldn't help but ask himself.

It took a few minutes before more explosions had occured, much stronger than earlier and Chuuya hadn't been able to activate his ability on time to keep them from getting caught in it. The vehicle was flown from it's place and it crashed not far from where it had been, rolling for a few times and causing one of the doors to break. The action had also caused Chuuya, Kyouka and Naomi to be thrown out of the vehicle and into the streets.

Chuuya groaned in pain as he tried to sit up, managing to catch sight of the van as it stopped from rolling. But the gas leakage and the flaming engine was definitely bad news "Kyouka! Naomi, we have to run!" he yelled at the two, practically dragging them up to stand as they ran as far away from the van as possible before the vehicle exploded as well.

Chuuya, Naomi and Kyouka still got caught by the impact and had been thrown a few meters away. Naomi and Kyouka had fallen unconscious as they both had crashed into broken vehicles meanwhile Chuuya was dragged in the streets before coming to a complete stop. He felt his body ache of the bruises and scratches he had gotten from the explosion.

"K-Kyouka..? Naomi...?" Chuuya groaned a few seconds later, trying to stand back up despite the wounds and the aching pain. He looked around, hoping to catch sight of the two ladies he had been with but with the smoke from the explosions, it was hard to make anything out but the enveloping darkness.

He started to walk, a little difficult, however, but he still managed, looking and calling for the names of the people he was with earlier--Kouyou, Yosano, Kyouka, Naomi, Higuchi and Gin. Sadly, there wasn't a response. Only silence seemed to surround the ginger and he was starting to worry that they might be dead. Although, he still tried to shake that idea off, because there was no way they'd die after just a few explosions. They were mafiosos and agency members, ability-users or not, he was sure they had more potential and will in them to let themselves be killed by this.

"Don't move." Chuuya heard someone say behind him, a man's voice, and Chuuya could recognize the voice. A gun had been pointed to his head as his wrist was harshly held behind him.

"I see. Boss was wondering when you'd make your move after you ran away from the mafia with as much explosives as you could carry." the ginger smirked, looking at the man through his peripheral vision.

Although he could hardly see who his hostage-taker was, he knew him for a fact. He was once a mafioso, one of Mori's men. He was an intelligent man with a lot of knowledge on explosives. As much as Kajii was of much help--and nuisance--to the organization, Mori still kept him because he found his knowledge on explosives useful. However, one day, the man had disappeared along with a huge number of mafia explosives. Most of the mafiosos guessed it was an enemy attack, but Mori was sure he had been betrayed. And he wasn't wrong.

"So, what's your plan, hmm? If you plan to assassinate the Boss, you had a lot more chances while you were in the mafia than now. What made you choose that decision?" he continued to interrogate.

"A lot more chances, huh? I doubt, not with you loitering around him like some guard dog. It was hard to plan the assassination where you wouldn't be around to protect him." the man responded.

"What can I say? I work under his organization. We're all under his command, hence, each one of us are his dogs as well."

"Well you seem to have been a special case. I was actually starting to lose hope if I hadn't gotten help."

"Help? From who?"

"Now why would I tell you? Well, that's enough chit-chat. It's time to say farew--Ack!" Chuuya swiftly turned and gave him a hard kick, launching the man a few feet from where he stood and landing on the street. The action had also caused his skirt to be ripped by the right side, creating a slit on it that reached to his thigh.

"Ah.. that was a lot weaker than anticipated. I didn't wanna get you killed so I tried not to use my ability on you, but it seems your explosions took a toll on my energy." Chuuya mentioned, looking on his already ruined wedding dress "Great, you got me ruining my wedding dress, too. Do you have any idea how much my son loved this?" he added in disappointment.

Chuuya was about to approach the man when he took out a remote control, making him stop in his tracks as he was sure that remote was for triggering another explosion "That's too bad, then. Luckily for you, your son won't even be able to see you wearing it." the man added, a sly grin on his face.

Chuuya was a little confused to what he meant until the trigger was clicked and he could hear a sound from behind him. Turning around, he caught sight of a device attached to his dress and it was blinking rapidly, which could only mean one thing "Shit."

"Hmm, it's already past 8, boss." Hirotsu commented as he checked his watch. Every single guest invited to the wedding were already present in the chapel and patiently waiting, meanwhile, the groom, the bride, the groomsmen and bridesmaids were still currently absent.

"That's a little surprising. Have you tried contacting, Kouyou-kun?" Mori asked the older male.

"I have but she is apparently not picking up." Hirotsu answered.

"I've also told my secretary to call Kunikida, but she said she couldn't reach them." Fukuzawa mentioned.

"I'm a little worried. Maybe something happened to them." Kenji was the one to say, sounding a little sad at the thought of it.

"Don't worry, they're sure to make it. Just give them, let's say... up to 9 AM." Ranpo butted in who was currently lying on the farthest chapel seat, close to the door where everyone else were waiting.

"How can you be so sure about the delay?" Hirotsu was the one to ask.

"Okay, then. Trust in his ability, if he's deduced that they'll arrive by 9 AM, then they will. If not, we're holding out a search and investigation to find out what had happened to them." Fukuzawa had explained.

Before Hirotsu could ask again, Mori had agreed to the man's conditions and they waited, still.

-*-*-

"Kunikida-san! We shouldn't take the north road! Apparently, there's been an accident there and the road has been blocked and currently off-limits." Atsushi suddenly mentioned in the silence of the cramped car which was Kunikida's where they managed to stuff in seven people--Kunikida in the driver's seat, Dazai and Atsushi in the front with Fumiya on Dazai's lap, while Akutagawa, Tanizaki, Tachihara and Kajii squeezed themselves in the backseat--as he was checking his phone.

"What? But that's the fastest route to the chapel." Kunikida complained.

"Yes, well, there had been a bombing incident and the police are currently handling the situation." Atsushi explained.

"Damn, a bombing incident? Sure they don't need you guys to solve the case?" Tachihara had asked.

"The President has already called the Agency closed for the day and have even received permission from the Government with the matter. So they're aware that our services are unavailabale at the moment." Dazai explained as he was playing patty cake with Fumiya.

"Seriously, of all the days it had to be today. Guess we'll just take the long way around." Kunikida muttered as he took a turn to their longest route in getting to the chapel.

-*-*-

It took a few minutes before the smoke subsided from the explosion caused by the device in Chuuya's skirt. The man didn't move just to make sure that Chuuya was as good as dead but as the smoke cleared, he found no body or any signs of a corpse in sight. That had made the man a little confused because as much as he was aware of explosives on human bodies, they're bound to cause the body to loose a few limbs and such, but a bloody scene was definitely supposed to be a result.

The man neared the spot where Chuuya had once stood and looked around, thinking that perhaps the corpse had been flown away with the explosion's impact. But as he looked around, there was absolutely nothing but rubble and vehicle parts.

"You were looking for me?" the man heard a familiar voice ask from behind and immediately he turned around only to be pierced in the stomach by a katana.

Blood came out of his mouth whilst the katana was still in his system, looking up, he took sight of the number of people he was sure he had killed with his explosions earlier. However, there they were, alive and hardly bruised besides their ruined clothings. And one of the people standing there was Nakahara Chuuya, the man he tried to kill. The one that pierced him was Kyouka's ability, Demon Snow.

"B-But... H-How? I--I--"

"Apparently, you were only aware of the mafiosos I was with. Sadly for you, we had a doctor with us with a very useful ability. One of the benefits of the Armed Detective Agency; Dr. Yosano Akiko." Chuuya had explained.

"But.. But--she was.. dead..."

"I'm not a doctor for no reason. Luckily, you almost did kill us, so I was able to use my ability to heal everyone, including myself." Yosano was the one to respond.

"N-No way... they didn't--they didn't tell me about... agh..."

"Now then. Because you're currently a wanted criminal in the eyes of the Port Mafia, we'll need to ask you for interrogations before we get you to bite the curb. Such as... who helped you run away and who is currently helping you now." Kouyou announced, her tone was rather deadly, it brought a shiver down the man's spine.

The mafia men that Kouyou called in earlier had come to pick up the man and keep him under custody until interrogations had begun. In the meantime, they had been offered to use one of the Port Mafia vans to continue their journey to the chapel.

-*-*-

9 AM.

Kunikida's car managed to arrive at the chapel and Dazai immediately shoved Fumiya into Atsushi's arms and pushed the weretiger out of the car to run inside. To Kunikida's and the other's surprise, however, Chuuya and the bridesmaids seemed to still be missing.

"What took you so long, Dazai-kun?" Ango, Dazai's best man who patiently waited by the altar, asked the brunette as he neared him.

"Sorry, sorry. We overslept." Dazai smiled, but Ango responded with a surprised expression.

"Overslept? On your wedding day? How careless could you get?"

"I'm glad to see you finally made it." Fukuzawa mentioned as Kunikida approached him.

"We're very sorry, sir. We had overslept and there was a huge incident that lead us to take a longer route to get here." Kunikida explained, bowing down 45-degrees in apology.

"An incident?" Fukuzawa asked.

"Ah, yes. Apparently, there had been a bombing incident in the north road." Atsushi was the one to answer.

"A bombing incident on the north road?" Mori asked "Could it be..?"

"Let's hope your thoughts are incorrect, Mori-sensei." Fukuzawa stated, already knowing what Mori was thinking about.

Atsushi and Kunikida were a little confused until a black van had arrived at the front of the chapel. Mori recognized it as one of the Port Mafia vehicles, he had let Chuuya use one for the wedding, but he was sure there was supposed to be a white bouquet adorned at the hood of the van to indicate it was the wedding cavalry. The door of the van opened and one by one, the ladies exited the vehicle with Chuuya coming out last. And almost everyone could only stare with widened eyes as they saw the state of the people that had arrived, especially Chuuya who had practically dirtied and ruined his white gown.

"I won't dare to ask what happened now. Perhaps you can tell us another time over tea with Elise, Chuuya-kun?" Mori suggested and Chuuya only responded with a nod.

With everyone present, the wedding ceremony finally began.

As the chapel was filled with the pipe organ's overwhelming music playing, the wedding processional started first with the bridesmaids and groomsmen in pairs--Kenji and Higuchi went first, Tanizaki and Naomi were next, Akutagawa and Gin then Kunikida and Yosano--followed by the maid of honor which was Kyouka. Next after her was the ring bearer, Kyusaku Yumeno, then the flower girl, Elise.

As the processional took place, Chuuya stood by the door, hands a little sweaty as he held the bouquet of various flowers. He was starting to feel more nervous as the minute ticked away. And with every person walking the aisle, the faster his heart thumped in his chest. When it was his turn to walk, Kouyou offered her hand to him which he took as his mentor wrapped her hands on the ginger's elbow, and the two walked the aisle.

During the march, Chuuya dared not to look at Dazai because he knew that the moment he did, his heart could explode at any minute. He didn't know why of all times, his heart had to go crazy today. It wasn't as if Dazai had done something to make his feel this way, the brunette was still himself, only thing was he was standing by the altar, watching him walk--shit, did he just bite his lip or something?--in an almost ruined wedding gown . Yeah, this day was definitely not as similar as any normal day.

Because today is the day Dazai Osamu and Nakahara Chuuya are honored in matrimony.

The walk felt like forever but they finally reached the altar. Kouyou released herself from holding Chuuya before taking the ginger's hand and offering it to Dazai. Dazai took the hand and Chuuya was sure the bastard could feel his heartbeat through those gloved hands in his bandaged ones. After the exchange, the two walked the remaining steps towards the officiant who will wed them today.

The officiant began the opening remarks and to Chuuya, it felt longer than when he just simply attended a wedding. He didn't know if it was because of the mixture of emotions he could still feel in his chest, or the fact that he's being married to Dazai was making him a tad bit nervous and uneasy. Chuuya didn't know how deep in thought he had been before he realized it was already time to exchange vows. Now he felt even more nervous.

Dazai spoke first:

"Chuuya. I'll be honest, I really never imagined I'd be standing in front of an altar right now with you. Surely, I did, but I had imagined it to be a beautiful woman I'd be committing double suicide with right after the ceremony."

"Fuck you."

"Later, honey, we're in the church." Chuuya scowled at him "I don't even know why I chose to stay with you forever. You were a walking bomb to be exact, just about to explode anytime as long as you press the trigger. And that means for both of what you're thinking."

"Quit reading my mind, dumbass."

"Stop interrupting me, Chuuya. Tsk tsk. Anyways, I could've chosen to ignore you. Chosen to let you die or killed you in every opportunity I had. Actually, I blame Mori-san for this, he's the reason I've had to deal with your hothead for practically 24/7. It can be a pain in the ass and a chore."

"Says the guy who keeps me busy with reports and saving his ass from his own suicide attempts."

"But despite such rash decisions and childish rants, I chose to stay with you and I chose to love you. And I can't really fathom the reason why I decided to take such a risk on the very first night, but it's probably because other than being a hotheaded, chibi.. that's probably what made you seem interesting to me."

"You trying to pick a fight?"

"I'm trying to be honest. All I'm saying is, you chose to trust me. You chose to be with me. You chose to go through pain and suffering even if you've hardly had a good memory to begin with. And I don't want to sound as if this is what forced me to stay with you. It's not. I chose to stay with you. Not because I know you'd die without me, or because I find you entertaining in more ways than one. But because it was my decision, and nobody but me told me to do it. So with every ounce of my pathetic being, I give myself to you, Chuuya. I may not be worthy enough to equal to you, but I hope I'm enough to make you happy. I promise and vow to whatever God is out there that I will do everything I can for your sake and happiness."

Chuuya was silent. Besides that cheesy proposal he had done before, this was probably the closest to cringe the ginger had ever heard the brunette say. But despite getting the feeling of having to either puke or laugh, he had to admit, it made his heart flutter and his stomach churn again.

Now, it was time Chuuya spoke his vow:

"I'm really no good with expressing emotions, you've pretty much made that clear to me since the first day, especially since you and I have no clear idea as to what I am to be completely exact. I've treated myself as a vessel of some God, but for some reason, you saw through all that. Though I can never disregard the fact that you treated me as only a tool or a pawn in your plans. Ordered me around like a sheep dog."

"Well, Chuuya was supposed to be my dog and you were originally a Sheep. So it makes sense."

"I swear, I must be a real masochist to choose to stay with you for the rest of my entire existence. You're insufferable, a whiny, possessive bastard who throws tantrums when things don't go his way. And not to mention your suicidal schemes are just pathetic. If you really wanna die, you could've tried harder."

"But I already said, I wanna commit double suicide--"

"--with a beauty, I get it. I get it, geez. Though you say that, and as much as I know you probably don't want me to bring this up again, but I'll be honest, I had hope. Hope that someday, you'd stop your suicidal acts and take life more seriously. Not everyone was blessed to live a life and have a childhood no matter how fucked up it is. Your very existence in this world means more than you think it is. I know that, and not just because of my past, but because I've tried to find meaning to my own existence besides being a vessel to a God."

There was silence before Chuuya spoke again.

"You once said that you've somehow gained the will to live by joining the mafia as you found interest in them. That moment, I had thought, the very reason we live and exist was because of our interest in something. I didn't really know what that meant, but meeting someone as troublesome and complicated as you, Dazai, was a more interesting experience for me than it seemed. I know it's a little difficult to ask, but part of me had thought... if Dazai finds deep interest in something--more interest in something--then does that mean that his will to live would increase even more?"

"So is Chuuya saying that he wants me to be interested in him?"

"Don't play coy with me, and don't think I didn't catch you biting your lip while staring at my almost-bare legs."

"Caught red-handed. We're going to need to have a chat about that right after the ceremony." Dazai emphasized the gown, indicating that he was concerned of how it became the way it is.

"But you're not wrong. It's not that I'm forcing you to be interested in me. But I at least want to make your life interesting enough to let you want to live for much, much longer. So if it's not too much to ask, I, Nakahara Chuuya, vow to bring interest and love in your life and I will make you see your life's existence and its meaning not just to you, but to me and to everybody else."

A few awes could be heard from the crowd once Chuuya had finished his vow, however, Chuuya's attention was focused on the man who leaned in to have their foreheads touch and whisper "You don't have to try so hard. I'm already interested in you since the beginning. And that never changes." a blush had crept up Chuuya's face at that as Dazai leaned away, chuckling.

The Officiant had announced it was time for the ring exchange. Ango, being the best man, took one of the rings from Q and gave them to Dazai who the Officiant tells to repeat after him, the vow he shall recite "Just as this circle is without end, my love for you is never-ending. With this ring, I take you to be my partner for life. I offer you my heart, my hand and my love. With all that I am, with all that I have, as long as we both shall live." and the brunette wore the ring on Chuuya's left ring finger.

Kyouka then walked up to Q to take the other ring and then give it to Chuuya which the Officiant tells him to repeat the vow after him "Just as this circle is without end, my love for you is never-ending. With this ring, I take you to be my partner for life. I offer you my heart, my hand and my love. With all that I am, with all that I have, as long as we both shall live." and he wears the ring on Dazai's left ring finger.

"I now pronounce you man and husband. You may kiss the bride." the Officiant finally announces.

Dazai carefully raises the veil of silk material covering Chuuya's face to reveal his pale complexion, cheeks reddened by both the make-up and out of excitement also. The brunette cup the ginger's cheeks and slowly leans in but as he was mere inches, he had received a punch in the gut from his husband, causing him to double-over, clutching his stomach, gasps and shocked expressions could be heard from the audience.

Before Dazai could say anything, Chuuya cupped the brunette's face and kissed him, deeply and passionately. The brunette was caught between kissing back or groaning in pain but he decided to do the first option and began kissing back. Chuuya's hands found their way to Dazai neck, cupping it as the kiss gets more hotter. And by hotter, that adds to Dazai's 'involuntary' movement of grabbing Chuuya's leg from the slit and raising it, pulling the ginger much closer to him. The action got surprised reactions from almost everyone, a few wolf whistles from somewhere in the crowd too. But at that moment, nobody else mattered. Because that was their moment, and their moment alone.

The ceremony ended and the two left the chapel, hands held together and not as ex-partners or friends or lovers--but as a married couple.

To be continued...
