Prologue
Grian was doing his best to resist a resistance. He inadvertently caused Impulse to try and begin one, but was trying not to connect it back to him for any reason.
In fact, he didn't think Ren could connect it back to him. Could he?
He knew that Ren would push back after Impulse's party, but he had no idea how he was going to push back.
He was worried he would be taken to the Crastle and put on trial for stealing diamonds, both from the Vault as Impulse's "party favors" and from the statue to pay for his priority quests (and his priority adventure) before it was vandalized by the Soup Group. But he also had no reason to believe that Ren would realize he was at the party.
Unless, of course, someone told him who was at the party.
Grian was starting to get to the point where he was... Uncertain, to say the least, about whether or not Ren was still trustworthy as a king or a friend. He was 80% sure that Scar was still a friend, that Ren hadn't turned him into one of his royal court members. But was Scar really still his friend, even after Grian started to notice him growing more and more friendly towards the king despite originally believing that it was a bad idea?
There was only one way to find out.
Grian went over to Scarland in order to look for Scar, only to see him with the king. He hid behind the building they were near and listened in as King Ren began to speak.
"You asked to see me, Scar?" Asked the king, and Scar nodded.
"I have found Impulse after he and the Soup Group spied on us and he refused to give up the other members that were at the vault party." Was Scar's response. Grian couldn't believe his ears. Scar's working with the king!? He thought, shocked.
"So Impulse throws a party in the vault and refuses to give up everyone he invited to it? Well, other than BDoubleO, but he had no idea what the party was until I showed up."
"Exactly, my liege." Grian was starting to think that not starting or joining a resistance was a bad idea. "BDubs and I have also learned that the Hermits find no value in the Royal Emeralds™."
"Well, they will have to learn that Royal Emeralds™ are now the only currency that can be used as the Crastle has been raided of its diamonds and now Royal Emeralds™ have the same value as diamonds as decreed by me, thine king."
"We tried to tell JoeHills that, but he refused to use the Royal Emeralds™ because he believes that they have no value." Grian suddenly noticed that Impulse, Pearl and Gem were hiding in a nearby alleyway. Are they spying on Scar and the king like I am? He asked himself.
"Then I shall have to make the taxation more publicly known. I shall hereby declare the 3rd law. I doth decree that henceforth, Royal Emeralds™ are the new currency, thou shalt not pay in diamonds, and most prophets go to the King, but GigaCorp™ is exempt from the 3rd law and taxation of the King." WHAT!?
"THAT'S NOT FAIR! IF WE GET TAXED, THEN SO SHOULD GIGACORP™!" All eyes were now on the Soup Group, all because of Impulse's outburst.
"EXCUSE ME! THIS WAS A PRIVATE CONVERSATION BETWEEN THE KING AND HIS ROYAL KNIGHT OF THE SQUARE TABLE!" Scar pulled out his infamous hOtGuY bow and aimed it at Impulse, an arrow notched, as Gem spoke up next.
"He's right! You can't tax every shop except GigaCorp! That isn't fair at all!" Pearl nodded in agreement with Gem's statement.
"I could have you all executed or banished for your transgressions against thine king! Spying on me, defacing my statue, trying to give my diamonds to the people, it's like you're trying to dethrone me!"
"Because we are!"
"Then you three leave me with no choice." Ren signaled Scar to release the arrow. Scar was about to oblige, when a shout broke through the air.
"NO!" Grian came out of hiding and ran towards the Soup Group, guarding them. "You're being an unjust king, Ren! You've gone mad!"
"GRIAN!" Scar froze. "You're protecting these traitors to the throne!?"
"I... I guess I am." Impulse's eyes widened. Gem and Pearl looked at each other in shock. "You can't banish or execute them just for pointing out that the tax law is unfair, Ren."
"I am thine king. I can make the rules as I see fit. I was trying to be a just king but your priority quests and Impulse's party in the Crastle vault have forced my hand. Do not force my hand again, Grian." Grian looked at Scar and Ren, shaking in slight anger.
"Scar, you thought this was a bad idea for the longest time! What happened!?"
"I can hOtGuY people without consequence, and I realized that a king might not be as bad as the diamond pillar war!" Scar smiled, but Grian was seething in absolute anger at the fact that Scar had joined the king to avoid another diamond pillar war and to hOtGuY people without consequence.
"Now stand aside, Grian. Unless you want to suffer the same fate as the Soup Group." Grian took a look at the Soup Group, then at Ren and Scar again. He sighed before speaking up.
"I'm the reason that the Soup Group started a resistance anyway. I had one of them go to Grumbot who told them to remove your claims in the shopping district, but they must have taken that as remove your claim to the throne. So I guess I'll suffer the same fate as them." Scar hesitated for a second before releasing the arrow, killing Grian in one hit.
"GRIAN!" Impulse quickly collected everything that Grian had on him and put it in a shulker before flying off to avoid getting killed by Scar themselves.
This was the day that Grian joined and formed an official resistance with Impulse and the Soup Group, a day in which he would be hunted by the king for every move he made with their resistance.
