I didn't sleep very well when I got home from Ryan's. I had a dream that started off sweet and loving. I was with a shadowed figure, so I couldn't tell if it was Ryan or Eric. Then the dream turned dark, and the shadowed figure split into two and walked away from me in different directions. I was left standing alone, not knowing which figure to follow.
When I woke up, Eric had already left. Though I did sleep in until eleven since I didn't get home until close to two, plus it was the weekend. I thought about my dream, while I turned on the coffee maker and jumped in the shower as the coffee was brewing.
I knew it was telling me I had to make a choice before it was made for me. But I felt like it was too soon to make any rash decisions based on one fun night. Okay, two, if I include the night in Napa.
I turned off the water and stepped out of the shower. After drying off and putting on my underwear, I did my makeup and blow-dried my hair as straight as possible. Then I went into my walk-in closet and changed into a grey, knitted, turtleneck sweater dress with black leggings. I threw on a pair of high heeled grey, knee-high boots. I felt like shit on the inside, but look great on the outside.
I picked up sushi from our favorite restaurant close to our apartment and made my way to the subway to head to Eric's office. There was a large group of tourists in my subway car. I deciphered that they were from Brazil, as I heard them speaking a mixture of Spanish and Portuguese.
I only knew that because Eric, Sasha, Becca, and I went to Brazil during our spring break of junior year in college. We had a blast, and the people were great. Well, Becca and I had a blast. Sasha and Eric fought most of the time. I think that's where Sasha's dislike for Eric stemmed. They were both wanting to control every aspect of our vacation, and neither one would budge until Becca or I did something to break the tension. After that, we never took another trip together and vowed we never would in the future either.
The train pulled into my stop. I squeezed through the group of tourists and hopped off just in time before the doors closed.
My phone rang. It was probably Eric checking to see where I was. I rummaged through my purse to get to my phone as I walked up the subway stairs. I froze mid-step when I saw that it was Ryan's name that appeared on the screen.
Instantly my adrenaline was kicking into high gear. Why was he calling me on a Saturday? I know we just had sex and all, but he didn't know Eric was working.
I continued up the stairs as I answered. Trying to ensure that I came off calm and collected. "Hello?"
"Hey." His voice in my ear triggered flashbacks of him and me in his bedroom.
"What's up?" I didn't want to talk long, for obvious reasons. I returned to the cold outdoors and was picking up my pace to get to Eric's office.
"Not much. I just woke up, and you were the first thing on my mind. I was going to just text you, but I wanted to hear your voice. Last night was amazing." His words were making me blush, but thankfully my nose and cheeks were already red from the cold, so it would be easy to blame the weather. I didn't know what to say back. I, of course, agreed with him, but should I tell him that? I think my extended silence concerned him slightly. "Did you enjoy yourself too?"
"I did. More than I care to admit."
I could sense him smiling on the other end. "When can we do that again?"
I stopped just outside the doors of Eric's building. I thought for a moment about my answer, while I looked out to the streets around me. There were clusters of people walking this way and that to get through the cold, to their destination. Though it wasn't too crowded since this part of the city was relatively quiet on the weekends.
"I don't know if we should. I don't want things to get too complicated." I could tell he didn't like that answer, but it was true. Perhaps it would be better to just end it now before we got too deep into this. Before I got too deep into it. "But listen, I have to go."
"Okay." His disappointment was evident through his defeated tone.
I told him I'd see him Monday and ended the call before he could say anything that would change my mind. I took a deep breath and willed Ryan out of my head as I walked into the lobby and took the elevator up to see Eric.
There wasn't a receptionist working since it was Saturday. So I walked on past the desk and made my way through the rows of cubicles to Eric's office. I approached his open door and saw his face looking down, reading one of the many law books piled up on his desk. I knocked lightly on the frame of the door, bringing his attention to me. He smiled with relief when his eyes rested on me.
My heart sank with the growing guilt inside.
"Oh, thank God you're here!" He bounded to me, kissed me lightly, and removed the paper delivery bag from my grasp. "I'm starving and couldn't stop thinking of this sushi all morning."
"Sorry, it took me so long." I removed my coat and put it on the back of the chair that faced his desk.
Eric waved his hand to signal for me to forget about it. He ripped the bag apart at the top, removed the sushi containers, and placed them on his desk. His office was just big enough to have room for his desk and chair, one extra chair, and two bookcases on either side of the window that sat behind him. I was instantly drawn to the framed picture of my favorite engagement photo of us, resting at eye-level on one of the shelves. Seeing it made me smile.
"Are you the only one here?" I broke apart my chopsticks and dipped my first roll into the soy sauce mixed with a hint of wasabi.
"No. Brian and George are working too. But they went out for lunch together."
Eric and I continued to eat and talk naturally through lunch about what was going on with his trial prep. All the different law stuff was confusing for me, but I knew he needed to talk to me about work. Even if I didn't get it. When he was done, he thanked me for listening to his rant and switched gears to asking what I had planned for the day.
"I don't really have anything planned, for once. I think I'll just enjoy a lazy day. Though, I was thinking about calling Sasha to see if she wanted to go to the gym or yoga with me. But I think she's probably getting tired of seeing me after we spent the last few days together doing wedding stuff." I popped the last sushi roll in my mouth. Savoring the flavors of that last bite.
"No one could ever get tired of seeing your beautiful face." Eric smiled sweetly. Even with a mouthful of sushi, his smile was still genuine and loving. "Well, whatever you do, enjoy yourself. I don't even know if I'll make it home this weekend, to be honest. Brian, George, and I were considering pulling an all-nighter and sleeping in shifts on the couch by the reception desk."
"Wow! Really? Don't you think you need a little break before your trial on Monday? So you can go into court with a clear mind." I loved seeing him so dedicated to his job but didn't want him to overdo it or stress out so much.
Eric threw his empty container back into the paper bag it was transported in. He proceeded to wipe his mouth with a flimsy paper napkin and threw that in the bag too. "I don't think I could really take a mental break. I'm too excited, that staying home tomorrow wouldn't help much anyway."
"Well, whatever you decide to do, I completely support you." While I looked like I was supporting his decision, I was also really thought it'd be good to have the time to myself at home to clear my thoughts and conscious of my feelings for him and Ryan.
I closed my empty container and threw it in the bag on top of Eric's.
"See, this is what I'm talking about!" Eric gave a light chuckle. "Power couple in the making! I love you, babe." He got up and walked around to me. Whether I was ready for it or not, he rested his hands on either side of my chair and leaned down to kiss me. I could still taste the salt from the soy sauce on his lips.
I, of course, naturally kissed him back. After last night, I was internally shocked that I still enjoyed his touch. Even craved it. "Well, if you do decide to come home tonight or tomorrow, I'd like to help you relax, even a little bit if I can." I walked my fingers, one in front of the other up his perfectly pressed shirt.
"That is a tempting offer." Eric looked at his watch, then back at me. "Or maybe we could relax a little right now? Brian and George won't be back for at least another twenty minutes."
Damn. How could I say no? I would never say no to a chance to have sex with Eric. I stood up and proceeded to close his office door. I pushed the lock button and instructed Eric to unzip his pants.
Feeling Eric inside me while we fucked on his office desk felt different than Ryan did. Eric seemed to be rushing things. Though, of course, he was at work, and his coworkers could come back any minute. So I understood the urgency of the matter. But even when Ryan and I only had a small window of time, the time he took to really enjoy the moment was exciting. But what I was doing with Eric was more about helping him relax, than it was about actually having sex.
Ten minutes later, we were both back to normal. Lunch was over, and I insisted I leave Eric to his work. He thanked me for what we just did, and I naturally responded with a kiss.
I left his office, suddenly feeling the urge to see Ryan.
***************
A few hours later, Ryan and I were lying on opposite ends of his bed, propping our heads with a hand and enjoying the sight and feel of our completely naked bodies. We had already fucked on his couch and in his kitchen. Now we were playing truth or dare in his bedroom. I picked dare.
"I dare you to suck this, the way you sucked my cock." He held out his index finger out to me.
I gave a wicked smile, grabbed his finger, accepting the dare, and brought it inside my mouth. Moving it in and out, but not totally, as the tip met my lips, I drew it back in. It made him suck in his teeth at the sensation. I repeated the action two more times before I stopped.
"Your turn. Truth or dare?" I gazed seductively at him.
"Truth."
Not expecting him to want to talk much, I was surprised by his selection. I had to think for a moment. "Okay. I got one. If we could have sex anywhere, where is the craziest place you'd want to do it?"
He raised his eyebrows at my question. "I wanted to fuck you back in that winery. And in the bathroom on the airplane. Those seemed like pretty crazy places to me."
"True. Well, maybe next time we take a plane ride together, we'll have to make that happen."
Ryan shifted himself to his knees and placed his hand on my ankle. Slowly he moved his hand up my leg, to my knee, then my thigh. It stopped at my hip, where he pushed his hand against it, guiding me to turn to lie on my back. He proceeded to lower his body on top of mine. The gravity of his body was heavy but welcomed.
"Truth or dare?" His piercing eyes locking with mine.
"Dare."
"I dare you to stay with me until tomorrow." He didn't even think twice about the dare. He was ballsy in his request. When I called to tell him I changed my mind about seeing him again, he had asked why, and I mentioned that Eric was working all weekend and that I had some free time.
"I suppose I don't have anything better to do." Which was true. It was going to be a quiet weekend without Eric around.
"I'll make it worth your while." Ryan shifted my legs apart and rested his firm penis against me. My body instinctively wanted to respond to his.
"I accept your dare."
