Chapter 20 - Battle of the Lords part 2

The scent of blood, mold and death now permeated the entire valley as the battle raged under the full moon that now filled the cloudy night sky. After relentless assaults in endless waves and more and more numerous, the lycans, creatures born from Miranda's experiences and completely submitted to her will, had managed to force open the great portal and pass through the walls of the domain. Most of the zombies had been put out of action by the too many and the greater force of the wolf creatures. The gargoyles, still very numerous, kept attacking the lycans from the air, managing to kill several of them but also suffering very many losses. The courtyard in front of the castle was now strewn with a tide of lifeless and torn corpses of zombies, gargoyles and lycans, whose black blood permeated the snow. Among the hundreds of lifeless bodies, Heisenberg continued to unleash his vengeful fury at Miranda. Covered from head to toe in blood that was not his own but having a few wounds too, he finished off a lycan by throwing it to the ground and violently crushing its skull with the hammer, exploding it like a ripe fruit. Breathless but galvanized by his own adrenaline, Heisenberg used his power of magnetism to lift, by telekinesis, the metal bars that constituted the great portal now on the ground. With a strong wave of his hand, he propelled the bars, like real javelins in the air, and they came to perforate and impale an entire row of lycans in their heads or their bodies, and collapsed in pools of black blood.

Further back in the courtyard, at the level of the steps leading to the main doors of the castle, Lady Alcina Dimitrescu also continued to fight with all her strength, surrounded by a multitude of lycans whom she had killed. Her claws covered with the black blood of her victims, the countess, enraged at seeing these creatures dare to attack her house, brutally crushed the head of a lycan against the ground, and with a thundering blow of her claw, beheaded a second enemy who was trying to jump on her from one side. Her dress had several laceration marks, indicating that she had received multiple blows, but her rapid regeneration ability had allowed her to heal her wounds in just seconds.

But despite the fierce resistance, Alcina saw with horror several Lycans manage to leap through the windows of the castle and thus enter inside. Immediately Alcina thought of her three daughters and of Donna Beneviento who had remained inside, in the large living room, and great anxiety came over her.

The roar of a nearby lycan brought her back to reality, and she quickly disemboweled the attacker in one fell swoop, letting him fall heavily to her feet. She took the spear that the dead lycan held in her hand, and using her own physical strength, threw the spear that tore the air and impaled three lycans in single file and nailed them to one of the walls.

Heisenberg came running up to her, as the enemy hordes continued to rush towards the estate.

_ "We will not be able to hold them for very long!" Heisenberg growled in frustration and spat on the floor.

Suddenly, an even more powerful and menacing roar was heard, causing the Lycans army to react who immediately halted their actions and stepped aside in fear, to let something pass. Alcina and Heisenberg, who had unfortunately recognized this noise, looked with concern at what was now happening to them.

Passing through the destroyed gates of the estate, a new creature appeared. Humanoid, he was almost 3 meters tall. Its skin was dark gray, covered with thick fur making it look like a monstrous cross between a wolf and a yeti. He was dressed in a large black coat and held in his hands a huge metal hammer that was almost taller than himself. The huge, hairy troll-like creature stepped forward, its footsteps shaking the ground and its dark, angry gaze rested on the two lords at the entrance to the castle. Striking his hammer to the ground, he roared again with all his ferocity, forcing the other Lycans to step back to let him pass.

_ "Urias ..." breathed Alcina with contempt.

_ "Yeah ... the alpha lycan himself ... we should have expected Miranda to send her best watchdog against us." Heisenberg added with as much anger as the countess.

Alcina braced her claws, bracing for the coming fight against the Lycans leader, but Heisenberg barred her path with his hammer, deciding to advance alone towards Urias.

_ "What the hell are you doing?" Alcina asked, puzzled.

_ "Go help your daughters ..." Heisenberg said to her without looking back. "You won't be able to concentrate until you know they are safe. And above all ... I have a mad urge to slaughter this motherfucker myself."

Alcina didn't understand why Heisenberg was acting like this, but he was telling the truth. She was really worried about her daughters and by failing to focus on the fight she would be hindering more than anything else. She turned around and ran inside the castle, closing the doors behind her, leaving Heisenberg alone facing Urias and the huge horde of Lycans.

Karl smiled without showing any fear, cracking his neck and bracing his hammer once again. Urias, who was standing twenty yards in front of him, growled in fury and rushed towards his opponent, ready to strike. But Heisenberg had foreseen this and stopped Urias' hammer with his control of magnetism. The tall lycan watched in confusion as his giant hammer was immobilized in his hands and unable to move it any further.

_ "You idiot ... did you forget who you were dealing with?" Karl said provocatively.

Meanwhile, Alcina had returned as quickly as possible to the large living room to see if her daughters needed help. On her way, the countess had to kill a few isolated Lycans who had managed to enter.

When she arrived, chaos already reigned in the living room, half of the furniture having already been destroyed. A dozen dead lycans lay on the ground in pools of blood. Bela, Cassandra and Daniela were finishing the last one together, slaughtering it deeply in the throat with their sickles. Donna Beneviento, her doll in her arms, used her power to hallucinate the two lycans who were about to attack her. As if caught in a murderous trance, the two creatures turned on each other to kill each other with extreme violence, while Donna silently walked away.

Relieved to see that her three daughters were alive, Alcina ran to them and the three witches came to their mother, also reassured to see her.

_ "Mother, what's going on outside?" Bela asked worriedly.

_ "The Lycans are far too numerous. They will soon be entering I am afraid." admitted Alcina, not wanting to lie to her daughters about the situation which had become very critical.

_ "So ... is it over? Is this how we are going to disappear?" Daniela moaned, supported by her sisters.

Seeing her three daughters seeing the facts, Alcina felt sorry for them and hugged them softly.

_ "I'm sorry, my daughters ..." she said. "I would have wanted so much to give you a better life than this. But I tell you ... if the fate of House Dimitrescu is to disappear tonight, then we will make sure that it is marked in blood of all the enemies that we will take with us in death. "

Bela, Cassandra and Daniela agreed with their mother's words and determination. They weren't going to let it go without resisting with all their might.

Suddenly, everyone saw the doors of the living room being brutally opened, as Heisenberg was thrown several meters and slid on the floor to the center of the room, under the gaze of the others, surprised. Donna came to help Karl to his feet as he regained his senses after receiving a heavy blow.

_ "Ah damn ... I underestimated this motherfucker." he growled, rubbing his sore jaw.

A rather large bleeding wound had been struck on his right flank.

The ground shook and the monstrous Urias entered the living room, also bearing several wounds inflicted by Heisenberg's hammer, but still strong enough to fight. Immediately, the three sisters agreed and stood together, as if to protect their mother.

_ "Let's go girls! It's time to send the bad dog back to the kennel!" Cassandra growled with sadism.

Bela and Daniela also smiled, their sickles in hand. Meanwhile, Donna came to support Heisenberg and help him back into a corner of the room to catch his breath and strength.

_ "No! Wait!" Alcina yelled at them, but for the very first time, the three sisters ignored their mother's order and turned into swarms of black insects and rushing towards Urias who roared in fury, waiting for them firmly with his hammer. But the big lycan was also very slowed down by his hammer and could not touch the three witches who easily avoided the first blow.

Cassandra and Daniela resumed their human forms just above Urias and fell to the back of his shoulders, taking him by surprise. Without wasting any time and with all their fury, the two sisters began to stab and slash Urias as much as possible in the face, back and chest, causing him to roar in both pain and rage. Blood spurted out, as Bela, also regaining her solid form, saw her two sisters struggling to avoid the hands of Urias who struggled, trying to grab them to pull them out of him.

_ "Hold on, sisters!" Bela shouted to them, wanting to come and help them.

Seeing her daughters fighting like this, Alcina also wanted to go to their aid, but a group of lycans appeared through one of the side doors of the living room and immediately pounced on her, forcing her to defend herself and preventing her from joining her daughters. Alcina killed the first of them by impaling him in the chest with his claws, and threw his corpse into the fireplace which immediately caught fire.

Meanwhile, Bela had pounced on Urias, and put out one of his eyes with the tip of her sickle. The tall lycan screamed even louder in anger, but with a very violent blow of his arm, pushed Bela away who flew across the room and crashed into the back wall, falling unconscious.

_ "BELA!" Alcina yelled when she saw this, but still battling the lycans. Donna left Heisenberg, who was trying to get to his feet despite his injury, and went to see Bela, to see that she was only knocked out.

_ "Don't touch our sister!" roared Daniela, accompanied by Cassandra who also howled seeing what monster had dared to do to their big sister.

The two of them intensified their sickles, having torn half of Urias' face, the skull almost visible beneath the bloody flesh, and having fully lacerated his upper back which was dripping with black blood.

Unfortunately, Cassandra, too enraged, had let her guard down, and Urias, still very resistant despite his very serious injuries, grabbed her in his hand and threw her against the living room table, which shattered under her and took her breath away.

Daniela, now alone on the monster, was shocked, but in turn, was caught by Urias' enormous hand which disarmed her without difficulty and, under the horrified gazes of Alcina, Bela and Cassandra, pierced Daniela at the level of chest, with her own sickle.

_ "NOOOOOOO!" they all three screamed in horror.

Urias exerted an increasing force, to the point of finally tearing Daniela's heart out of her body, in an explosion of black blood. Daniela, her face frozen and her eyes wide, spat a stream of blood and barely had time to glance at her sisters and mother, before being violently thrown to one side by Urias. Daniela rolled on several meters and did not move, a pool of her blood forming under her.

Bela and Cassandra, on their knees and still suffering from the shocks received, were shattered, tears in their eyes and screamed at the sight of their younger sister lying motionless, and Urias holding her heart in his hand, which he crushed and reduced to bloody mush mercilessly in the palm of his big hand.

But an even more powerful howl, mingling sadness and anger, was heard in the room. After killing the lycans who bothered her, Alcina Dimitrescu came forward, her eyes bloodshot and her face deformed with rage, small black veins beginning to appear on her face, a sign that she was giving free rein to her mutation, strengthening its strength even more.

Urias, taking this as a challenge, roared at her and wanted to attack her. However, the tall lycan was hit hard in the face by Heisenberg's hammer, which Karl had hurled with his power. Blinded and stunned by shock, jaw completely dislocated and shattered, Urias could do nothing but see Lady Dimitrescu's dark silhouette appear in front of him, glare at him and with a sharp blow and great force, beheaded him. the head flew in the air before rolling on the ground. Urias' giant, decapitated body staggered, a fountain of black blood exploding from his neck, and collapsed heavily in the middle of the living room, amid all the damage. Seconds later, Urias' dead body solidified, as if turning to stone, before crumbling into millions of ash fragments.

Once the great lycan was defeated once and for all, Alcina had to take a few seconds to manage to channel her mutation and return to her normal state, the veins disappearing from her face and returning to normal.

Once that was done, the countess ran up and fell on her knees beside Daniela, whom she gently hugged. Bela and Cassandra also came to their sister. Further back, Heisenberg retrieved his hammer from the ground and for once, chose to remain silent alongside Donna.

Daniela, in her mother's arms, was still alive, but it was more and more difficult to keep her eyes open. Blood was flowing from her mouth and the wound on her chest was really ugly to see. With tears in their eyes and gathered around her, Alcina, Bela and Cassandra did not want to accept it, but they already knew it was too late. Daniela's heart had been completely destroyed by Urias, and the heart being the parasitized central organ that could stabilize them and keep them alive ...

_ "I ... beg your pardon, mom ..." Daniela coughed, speaking with great difficulty and holding Alcina's hand in hers.

_ "No ... it's going to be fine, sweetie ... you fought bravely to protect our house, like a real Dimitrescu." said the Countess calmly in tears, but forcing herself to smile to reassure her and support her to the end.

Bela and Cassandra approached, their cheeks streaming with tears and taking their dying sister's face in their hands. Each in turn, they placed a tender and loving kiss on Daniela's forehead.

_ "I was always the most oblivious of the three, eh?" Daniela told them, still able to smile despite the pain.

_ "Yes ... but you were also the most enthusiastic ... you dreamed of seeing what the outside world looks like." Cassandra said, her throat tight with grief.

_ "And you will see it from now on ..." Bela said in turn, just as broken and sad as her sister. "You will be free forever, my dear sister, and you will stay with us, forever, in our hearts."

Daniela smiled tenderly at her sisters' words, and after one last loving look at them and her mother, the younger witch gently closed her eyes, as if falling asleep, never to wake up again. A last very weak breath escaped her mouth, and Alcina felt it. It was finished. Daniela was gone.

Very delicately, Alcina came to hug her lifeless daughter against her, stroking her hair. Cassandra and Bela, still kneeling beside her, were devastated and snuggled up to their mother. Heisenberg and Donna, further back, remained silent, preferring not to intervene in this moment.

_ "Sleep now, my little angel ..." Alcina sighed painfully in her ear while keeping her against her. "sleep and may you rest in peace."

In her arms, the body of Daniela, now deprived of the parasite that kept her alive, gradually petrified and crystallized, crumbled into pieces, flowing between the fingers of Alcina who witnessed this, helpless. In the pile of ashes, only Daniela's pendant remained, adorned with her green gemstone.

Alcina picked up her late daughter's pendant in her hands and hold it tightly, expressing with her two other daughters all the sadness a mother could feel. But sadness also led to a growing desire for revenge in Alcina's heart. Someone was responsible for this misfortune and was going to have to pay, and she knew exactly who...

_ "Miranda ..." Alcina growled between her lips, in a thin rage but more than palpable.
