Part 30- The finale

Hank gets into the passenger's side and Connor hops into the backseat and they speed off, ready to rescue you... if they're not too late already.

You open your eyes slowly, your vision taking a while to adjust. You feel your pupils expand and contract like the lens of a camera as your eyesight gradually becomes less blurred. You feel your eyes well up with tears and you blink hard to get rid of them. Looking around, you notice that you're in some kind of room filled with empty, dusty cardboard boxes. You're sat on an uncomfortable wooden chair, your feet tied to the front two legs and your arms tied behind your back. Your head and face throbs with pain and your wrists and ankles are tied so tightly that you feel your feet and hands becoming numb.

As you look dead ahead, you see Sid standing in the doorway with something in his hand, swinging it back and forth. It looks like a long piece of cloth or a scarf.

"Finally awake sweetheart?" He asks as his voice bounces off of the walls of the room.

You feel scared. Scared for your safety. Scared for your life. You feel your heart pound, it pulses in sync with the throbbing sensation of your nose and head. "Awh poor baby..." Sid heckles as he approaches you and stands in front of you, towering over your shaking, aching body. You look down to the floor to try and avoid his sickening gaze. Sid puts a hand on your chin and forces your head up to look him in the eyes. "There's no reason to be scared babe... Actually... yeah. There's every reason to be afraid. I'm fucking insane!" He laughs. Your eyes well up with tears again.

"You see this?" Sid holds up the scarf. "If you start making noise then I'm going to shut you up with this got it?"

You nod, your whole body shaking.

"GOT IT?" He repeats, louder this time.

"Yes..." You squeak pathetically.

"Now..." Sid stands directly in front of you, his feet wide apart. He's playing with the scarf in his hand and looking down into your eyes. "We're gonna play a little game okay? We're gonna play... copy Sid. Don't worry it's simple." Sid leans down, his face inches from yours. You can smell him. He smells like drugs and unwashed, sweaty clothes. His breath smells like nicotine as he speaks. "I'm going to tell you what to say... and you're gonna say it. Okay?"

"Okay..." You whisper through tears. You've never been so scared in your life.

"We'll start off easy... say... Sydney."

"S-s-Sydney..." You stutter.

Sid grabs a handful of your hair. "WITHOUT the stutter please."

You take a deep, shaky breath and inhale a mouthful of dust. It tastes like decay.

"Sydney." You say with tears in your voice.

"Good...Now say..." He leans in close to your ear and you can feel his hot breath down your neck. "I love you."

You feel yourself shiver with cold. You don't want to say it. You stay silent.

"SAY IT!" He bellows.

You jump at the sudden noise and close your eyes tight. "I...love...I love you..."

"Open your eyes... look at me... and say it again," Sid commands.

You open your eyes and tears spill out. You look up at him. "I love you."

Sid smirks with pleasure. "Good girl."

Then the sound of a car pulling up outside breaks the short silence and you scream for help. You shout for anyone but before you can finish your plea, Sid slaps you across the face hard. "SHUT THE FUCK UP!" He bellows.

He then gets the scarf and ties it around your face and in your mouth so you can't speak. You squirm, trying to get out but it's no use. Sid laughs evilly. "Looks like we got some visitors... Let me go say hi..."

Sid then turns around and leaves the room, shutting the door behind him.

The building you're in is a warehouse in which Sid uses to do all sorts. Manufacturing, growing and selling drugs, holding dog fights and anything else you could think of. The building used to be a factory but it was abandoned in the 90's when the company who owned it went bankrupt. Nobody wanted to buy it. Now it was Sid's play place.

Connor, Hank and Patrick all get out of the car. "This is the place..." Patrick says. "I can't go in with you."

"What? Why?" Hank asks.

"Sid cannot know that I told you where his warehouse is. He'll kill me." Patrick confesses weakly.

"Oh grow the fuck up, he's just a kid!" Hank curses. "How dangerous can he be?"

"You don't know the half of it..." Patrick says grimly. "I'll wait out here with the car. I can be the getaway driver in case something goes wrong." He says. "Please... don't tell him I brought you here."

Connor and Hank don't answer but instead, they make their way up to the warehouse. The doors and windows are all boarded up and instead of a door, there is a large, thick, heavy, metal slab that has been pushed open with force. Hank and Connor share both scared but determined looks as they enter the threshold. As they stand just past the doorway, they gulp as they take in the interior of the large, run-down building. It's like a maze. Winding halls and doorways are everywhere. A dystopian labyrinth.

"Maybe we should split up? We will cover more ground that way." Connor suggests.

"Have you ever seen a horror film? Do you know what splitting up gets you? Killed." Hank says. Connor simply looks at him with a raised brow. "You don't even have a gun."

"I'll be fine. I can fight. If we split up then we'll find her faster and the only thing that matters is getting to her before anything happens."

Hank sighs. "Okay fine. Meet me back here in twenty."

Then the boys split up. But little do they know that Sid is watching their every move as if they're nothing but lab rats in a cage, and he is the mad scientist.

Connor Walks into a room without a door, searching for the slightest clue as to where you might be. Nothing. It's practically empty. He walks out of the room and then takes in his surroundings again, analyzing each and every detail. A door. Slightly ajar. Connor approaches the slightly opened door and hears a noise from inside, a sort of mechanical whirr. He pushes open the door with caution and steps inside. In the centre of the room is a large machine. There are computers attached to it and there are four large claws which look as if they're for holding someone still. There are wires and tubes everywhere.

"What the..." Connor thinks out loud to himself. The machine vibrates and shakes every now and then and it whirrs like a vacuum cleaner.

"Don't you know what this is?" A voice comes from the corner of the room. Connor quickly turns to face the source of the voice and sees a figure standing in the corner. "Built it myself. It was very tricky though. It's rather unstable actually. Could probably explode any minute honestly but that just makes it more exciting don't you think?"

"Where is Y/N? What have you done with her?" Connor asks loudly.

"Come closer and I'll show you." The voice beckons.

Connor thinks about this for a second before taking a tentative step forward.

The man walks forward too, it's a man in a black hood, covering most of his face.

"Sloth..." Connor breathes.

The figure holds out a tablet screen displaying a live video feed. Connor looks at the screen and his blue blood runs cold. It's you.

You're still in the room on your own, the scarf serving as a sort of gag stopping you from speaking. You look around for something, anything that can help you escape. Then you see a mirror. It's a dirty, grimy, smudged and stained mirror but you can still see your reflection, though you wish you couldn't. You have faint but obvious blue-black circles around your eyes from where Sid crashed your face onto his knee and there is still blood under your nose. Half of your face is red from where Sid slapped you and tear tracks have stained your cheeks. You look about again and then you see something. A small blinking red light dead ahead. It's a camera. A webcam. Your stomach sinks. Who is he broadcasting to?

"Perfect isn't she?" The man says to Connor in the other room. "Even when she's battered up and bruised, even when she's crying, scared for her life, she's beautiful. Actually, I think she looks more beautiful this way. Vulnerable. Afraid..." He sighs dreamily. "So easy to manipulate"

"If you've hurt her-"

"OF COURSE I HURT HER YOU STUPID SILICONE SCROTE! HOW ELSE DO YOU THINK SHE GOT THOSE BRUISES?" The yells. "But you know what? If you lay a finger on me..." Sid drops the tablet and as it hits the floor, it shatters into pieces. "She dies."

"Anyway, enough chitchat, let's get on with what I wanna do."

He then punches Connor in his stomach and swiftly pulls out one of his vital biocomponents. Blueblood splatters onto him and Connor falls to the floor. He starts to see errors and a countdown begins. Sid bends down and lifts Connor up.

Connor looks at the man with helpless eyes, unable to find the energy to fight him. He simply grabs ahold of one of his arms and tries to push it away but to no avail. Clumsily, the man walks Connor over to the machine and stands him in front of it. Connor sways back and forth like a drunk man and Sid pushes a button on the computer. The hands on the machine then grab Connor's wrists and arms, lifting him up. Then a spike jabs itself into the back of his neck and he winces.

"You can have this back now. Don't have to worry about having to fight you anymore." the man says as he puts the biocomponent back into Connor's stomach. "So... what shall we do to you... I know! Let's erase your memories! I'd like to see you try and take Y/N away from me when you can't even remember who she is!" He laughs. "And better yet, you can be my slave!"

The man then puts his hands on his hood. "And now here's the best part..."

He pulls down his hood and reveals his identity.

"Sydney Hector," Connor says. "Sid. You're sloth..."

"Clever isn't it? Like Sid the sloth from that old movie? I always have been a comedic person."

Hank walks along the hallway, his gun raised. His heart is racing and all he wants to do is find you. He walks past a door and thinks he can hear something inside. Weeping?

Hank stands behind the door, pondering whether he should leave or open it. He decides on the latter and kicks open the door, pointing his gun into the room. Then he lowers his gun and his stomach sinks. He sees you tied up, weeping to yourself in the empty room with bruises around your eyes and blood under your nose.

"Holy shit Y/N!" Hank cries. He stuffs his gun in his pocket and runs over to you. He pulls the scarf from around your mouth and you take in a long breath. Hank then tries to untie your arms but it's too tight.

"Hank the mirror!" You say.

Hank walks over to the mirror and puts his foot through it, shattering it into pieces. He gets a big, sharp piece and cuts off the rope from around your wrists and ankles.

"Thank you so much!" You breathe, falling into Hank's arms and hugging him tightly. "I thought I was going to die, Hank! I thought he was gonna kill me!"

"It's okay, It's okay." Hank soothes. "You're okay now, we just need to find Connor and then we can get out of here."

The two of you stand up and walk out of the room. You stomp on the webcam, shattering it just to be safe as you leave. It feels weird to stand and walk by yourself after being sat down for such a long time so you stumble slightly.

You look along the hallways and the two of you go quietly as you can hear a loud humming noise. You catch a glimpse of a door, not fully closed at the end of the hall and you pull on Hank's sleeve. "In there."

You both walk slowly towards the door, Hank has his gun at the ready and you stand outside the door. Hank pushes it open and you both see what's inside. Connor is strung up on the machine which is buzzing and vibrating loudly and Sid is standing in front of him.

"SID!" Hank yells and the man spins around to see him holding a gun up to his head. Hank pulls the trigger.

Nothing.

He pulls it again. Nothing. He's out of bullets. This whole time he's been carrying an empty gun around.

Sid chuckles. "Well isn't this nice?". He pulls his gun out and points it at Hank.

"Shit..." Hank mumbles.

Hank then does something completely out of character, completely ignoring his training. He leaps for Sid. Sid shoots. Misses. And Hank pulls the gun towards him and punches Sid's arm away, causing him to let go of the firearm. Hank then crashes it onto the side of Sid's face forcefully causing him to stumble back and almost fall to the floor. They begin to fight and you take this opportunity to try help, Connor. You rush over to him and try to pry the grips away from his wrists but to no avail. You look at the computer and a horrible word is displayed in red.

"It's no use..." Connor says slowly and quietly as you run up to him and try to free his hands.

"No, I'm gonna get you out of this." You say with determination, scrambling about, trying to find a stop button or anything.

"What did he do to you?" He asks softly, looking down at you.

You stop searching for a minute to look back at him. "He... He punched me... and slammed my face into his knee."

Connor flinches as you tell him this.

"Do I look that bad?" You ask with a small breathy chuckle.

"No..." Connor says, his voice is becoming weaker with every second. "You always look beautiful."

"Don't worry I'm gonna get you out of this." You say again.

"You can't you idiot! There's no stopping it!" Sid yells from behind you. Hank punches him in the face to shut him up and they continue fighting.

"There has to be a way there has to!" You cry. You look at the computer. The loading bar then glitches and then goes up.

"No! No, don't say it! Don't you dare say goodbye yet!" You cry as tears begin to fall down your face.

"Y/N If not now then when? I don't want to forget you... but when I go I want you to be the last thing I see..." Tears spill down the androids face like a cascade of sadness and love.

"Wait! No, let me go!" Sid cries. You turn around and see that Hank has restrained him so that he can't move. "You don't understand! You need to let me go!"

"And why the fuck would I do that?" Hank asks.

"Because the machine won't erase his memory... It'll erase everything..."

"What're you talking about?" You ask, yelling at the man with confusion, terror.

"When the bar reaches 100 it won't erase his memories... It's rigged to explode," Sid confesses. "Now let me go I need to get out of here I don't wanna die!"

You now look up at Connor with a terrified expression. "Come on there has to be something!"

You feel around the grips and then you reach behind Connor and touch the back of his neck where the spike is dug into him.  You wrap your hand around the spike and pray that what you're about to do is the right thing.

You tighten your grip and then pull it out forcefully. The claws on Connors wrists and feet release him and he falls onto the floor. His LED turns yellow for a few seconds and then he shakes his head and looks at the monitor.

Connor quickly walks over to Sid and cups his face before slamming it down onto his knee with such force that you're fairly certain you heard Sid's nose shatter. Sid sways back and forth, his nose looks messed up. Connor then punches him square in the face and he falls back unconscious.

You look at the screen. It's at 96%.

"GUYS RUN!" You yell as the machine begins vibrating with more vigour and begins whirring louder than ever before like a mad bull.

You all begin to run through the winding hallways. You're fast, especially when your life is at stake. but not fast enough. You're beginning to fall behind the other two as the exit comes into view. Your side begins to cramp and you slow down. "Connor!" You yell.

Connor slows down too and then scoops you up in his arms, carrying you in the bridal position and sprinting towards the exit. Hank makes it through first, then you and Connor make it through.

The car is parked further away than before, presumably because Patrick didn't want to accidentally be seen by Sid. Sid who is still inside the building. But it's too late now.

As you run, the building behind you explodes with a loud boom and the hot flames burst into the air like a firework from hell. Pieces of the building, bricks, wood, rocks shower down like a disturbing meteor shower. As the heat from the explosion fills the air, you look up at Connor, your hero and he looks down at you as he continues running from the blast, not wanting to be hit by the shockwave or the falling debris.

Then you both do something you've wanted to do since the day you met.

You close your eyes and tenderly connect your lips with his, kissing him softly. He kisses you back, holding you close as he runs. His lips are cool and soft on yours and you smile into the kiss as the flames from the blast begin to die down. This was worth the wait. He was worth the wait.

After all, you're the one who reset him. You fixed him. And in doing so he's filled a void within you that you didn't even know you had.

So for that, you thank him.
