Part 20
A/N:
Quick question;
Do y'all prefer the longer parts or the shorter ones?
---
"Sure yeah." You smile "Bye Ruby."
It's finally Friday. The day Connor's taking you out. Yesterday when you went shopping, you decided to buy a pair of high waisted black jeans and a cropped hoodie. Casual, yes. After seeing all the fancy cocktail dresses and fancy party outfits, you instantly decided that casual was the way to go as a way of saving money. A lot of money.
You're currently sat on your bed staring at the clothes laid out in front of you. You take a shaky, nervous breath and begin to get changed. The nerves of tonight are beginning to creep up on you. You don't even remember what time Connor is supposed to be coming but it's 6:30 now.
When you're changed you brush through your hair and decide to wear it loosely over your shoulders. Then you put on some makeup but decide to go for a natural look.
At Hank's house, Connor is calm and collected. He's wearing his everyday RK800 jacket and bottoms since he has no other clothes. Hank is sat on the couch again, watching some generic show.
"Lieutenant Anderson."
Hank jumps with fright and turns to face Connor. "Jesus Connor you nearly gave me a fucking heart attack." He breathes.
"Lieutenant I need a favour." Connor says.
"What is it?" Hank grumbles.
"I need to borrow your pickup truck."
Hank raises a silver eyebrow at the android. "Why the hell do you need my truck?"
"I want to take Y/N out in it." Connor explains.
Hank turns his full attention to Connor now. "Oh yeah the date." He looks Connor up and down. "You're wearing that?"
"They're the only clothes I have lieutenant." Connor answers.
Hank rolls his eyes. "Okay."
He turns his attention back to the television then tosses the keys for his truck to Connor who (of course) catches them.
"I want it back without a scratch. Go get 'em tiger."
"Thank you Lieutenant." Connor turns to walk away.
"Connor?" Hank doesn't turn away from the television.
"Yes Lieutenant?" He stops in his tracks and turns to face Hank who is still facing the television.
"Look after her." Hank tells him.
"I will." Connor answers. "Goodbye."
"See ya."
Connor steps out then gets into the car and starts it.
You're waiting downstairs in the living room for Connor. It's 7:28.
You spray yourself with perfume and put on a pair of converses, comfy, generic but good looking enough.
As soon as the clock turns 7:30, there's a knock on the door as if like clockwork. You jump up with both excitement and nerves then go to answer the door. Connor greets you with a sweet smile on his face and a hand behind his back.
"Connor." You breathe.
"Y/N... You look beautiful." Connor says. "I got you something."
He takes his hand from behind his back and on his palm is a small plushie monkey.
You take the monkey from him and smile up at him. "Awh Connor it looks just like you."
Connor smiles at you. "Shall we?"
"Please tell me where we're going." You beg.
"You'll see where we're going soon enough." Connor smirks as he starts walking towards the truck.
"Is that Hanks pickup?" You ask as you slowly step towards it.
"Yep." Connor answers as he enters in the drivers side.
You shrug and hop into the passengers side next to Connor, still wondering where you're going. In the back seat, there are blankets and pillows there. One can only wonder...
"Can you give me a hint to where we're going?" You ask, putting on your seatbelt as Connor starts the car.
"Okay, ask me some questions and I'll answer." Connor begins to drive.
"Am I dressed appropriately?"
"Where we're going, nobody will even see what you're wearing." Connor chuckles.
What does that mean? You look out the window and see that the sky is beginning to turn orange.
"Is it dark where we're going?"
Connor thinks for a moment. "Well it depends on how long we stay there."
That's confusing.
You decide to just give up and wait to see where you're going.
You're driving for a short while until eventually you start seeing more and more trees. You're driving along a long road with trees along the sides. Dead ahead there is a gap in the trees and Connor turns into it. There isn't even a road to drive on so the car ride is bumpy and you almost jump out of your seat.
"Connor...?" You say, your voice comes out shakily because of the bumpy path. Connor doesn't answer. You're feeling scared now. You don't know where you are.
Connor pulls up into a clearing above a cliff. There is a large semicircle where there are no trees and Connor turns the truck around so the bed of the truck is facing the cliff.
"Close your eyes." Connor says.
"What?"
"Do it." Connor laughs as he gently slides his hands into yours and pulls them up to cover your face. You laugh lightly and then close your eyes behind your hands.
You hear him get out of the car and then open the back door. There's nothing but shuffling and the sound of fabric and some wrappers for a minute before the car door next to you opens.
"Keep your eyes closed and give me your hand." Connor says.
You hold out your hand, your eyes closed tight and resisting the urge to peek then feel Connor take it in his, guiding you out of the car. When you're stood on the floor, a gentle, cool breeze blows through your hair and Connor stands behind you.
He leans in close to your ear. "No peeking." He whispers and puts his hands over your eyes. Then, he helps you walk forward a few steps and you are standing still for a moment. He takes a deep breath and steps back.
"Okay. You can open your eyes now."
You slowly open your eyes and your mouth hangs open at the sight. The bed of the pickup truck has been lined with blankets and pillows and cushions to make the world's coziest bed and there's a bowl of goodies in the middle. In the sky is a beautiful golden sunset and below the cliff is a gorgeous view of Detroit. You can see the entire city.
"Oh my god Connor..." You breathe, completely in awe. "How did you think of this?"
Connor shrugs and smiles before jumping into the bed of the pickup truck and landing in the blankets with a soft thud.
You smile brightly and follow him in. The pillows are big and puffy, the perfect kind for getting cozy on. The two of you lay down in the makeshift bed and you let out a happy sigh.
"How is it?" Connor asks.
"It's perfect." You smile, looking up at Connor. He's looking out at the sunset, completely mesmerised by it and you're mesmerised by him. You snuggle up to his side, breathing in his scent. He responds by putting a comforting hand around you and pulls you closer. He's warm.
"What do you wanna do now?" Connor asks.
"Let's just... Talk." You say, looking up at the coral sky.
"Okay well..." Connor sits up and leans his arm on one of his knees looking very picturesque. "I have some bad news."
"You want to start our night off with some bad news?" You ask with concern, scooting up so your back is leant on some pillows.
"I suppose it's best to get it out of the way than to save it until last and ruin the night." Connor explains. valid point.
"Okay hit me." You say, sitting up. Connor raises a brow. "It's a figure of speech Connor."
"Oh." He says. "Well Hank and I have been assigned to a case which means we're probably gonna be away from home for a few days."
You blink. "Oh..."
"I wanted to ask if you could look after Sumo while we're gone. You can take him to your home."
"Of course." You give a sad smile. "I'll miss you though."
You shuffle closer to Connor and he lays his head on yours. "I'll miss you too Y/N."
You lay like that for a while and eventually, the sky turns dark. You almost fall asleep until you catch a glimpse of the city lights.
"Connor look!" You cry out.
You sit up and crawl forward to the edge of the truck bed and lean over, taking in the view. Connor stays where he was sat and stares at the lights of the city reflected in your eyes. They all look like stars reflected in the darks of your eyes and suns in the whites.
You turn back and tilt your head at the android. "Why aren't you looking? I thought you liked things like this."
Connor looks into your eyes. "I'm looking at something far more beautiful." He says.
You feel yourself blush. Connor smiles and leans forward. You're inches apart. You look at his lips. Slowly, you begin to close your eyes, waiting for his lips to meet yours.
BRR BRR BRR
Your phone begins to vibrate in your pocket and you sigh out in frustration. Your eyes flutter open and meet with Connors. His lids are heavy with... Lust? Is he even capable of feeling lust? Apparently so.
"I'm sorry." You whisper.
Connor lets out a breath he didn't even realise he was holding. "It's okay."
You take your phone out of your pocket and check to see who it is.
Incoming Call:
Unknown number
You end the call. You look back up at Connor. But that moment is gone.
"I'm so sorry." You apologize again.
"It's fine." Connor smiles.
You lay back down and let out another sigh of frustration. Connor lays next to you and puts his arms around you, pulling your body onto his. You close your eyes. Then you sleep.
