Chapter 22 - Recovering from Battle
Recovery Girl had to have been warned about their fight the night before because she didn't even blink when they stumbled in at the crack of dawn to get their bruises treated. They slept through Nezu's opening speech, welcoming students into the second term. Neither of them had heard it the first time around, since they were on house arrest, but it's not like they missed anything important. People did ask them where they were when they appeared in class during first period, covered in bandages and scrapes.
Izuku was glad when Aizawa called for their attention and the interrogation was forced to be postponed. He could already imagine what his friends had to say about it. Tenya was right, after all, he should know better than to fight someone after school hours and without supervision. It was reckless and stupid, no matter how anyone looked at it. But that's just the thing, wasn't it? None of them could possibly understand how much that fight actually meant to them. Not back then, nor now. It was something special, something private between them.
"Bakugou, Midoriya, I'd like to have a word with you two after class," Aizawa sensei stated before starting the actual class. Izuku had hoped to get away without having to face Eraser's wrath since Kacchan asked for permission ahead of time, but guess that had just been a feeble dream. He tried not to dwell on that upcoming lecture, but he still failed to stay focussed, simply dribbling in his notebook as class dragged on.
Kacchan knew his secret now... He knew Izuku had been here since he was four, or well, he'd been conscious of the future from that point on. He hadn't told the others yet, key word being yet. Izuku wasn't sure whether he'd stay quiet for long... I mean, yesterday was nice. They had shared their feelings and cuddled and Izuku had felt truly safe and relaxed for what felt like the first time in forever. But the others wouldn't accept no for an answer and he had the feeling the first one to drag answers from them was going to be Aizawa sensei.
Izuku was pulled out of thought when the bell rang, startling him for a moment. He really hadn't been paying attention at all...
"You okay?" Katsuki asked, turning around in his chair as everyone else packed up their things. "You seemed zoned out."
"I have a lot on my mind," Izuku confessed, but that shouldn't come as a big surprise to Kacchan after everything he learned last night. "It's nothing to worry about though."
"You know I don't believe that shit anymore," Katsuki grunted, turning around again and getting up from his chair. Izuku sighed, getting up as well. Most people had already left the room, happily chatting with their classmates. A few of them, all members of the alliance, had stared at the pair for a little while. They were much slower to leave the room, but they did so anyway. It was clear Aizawa wanted to talk to them in private.
"I'm sure you know what this is about," their teacher started, tapping away on his tablet. "But let me remind you, just to be sure."
With that he turned the screen towards them, showing them the security footage of ground beta, of their fight. There was sound, too, which made Izuku's blood run cold. If there was sound then Eraser would've been able to hear everything they'd been yelling at each other, everything they confessed and cried about. Even-
"F-four... I was four."
Even that.
Aizawa paused the video after those words were spoken, placing the tablet back on his desk as he stared at the two problem children in front of him. Izuku's breath hitched and he quickly averted his eyes to the ground. He might be an adult, mentally, but that didn't make him any less terrified of the man in front of him. Everyone in their right mind would be. And oh great, he could already feel the tears well up in his eyes. And why couldn't his body stop trembling?! Just stand normally damnit!
"Why did you lie to us about the moment you arrived here?" Aizawa asked, his voice neutral yet stern. Izuku didn't answer, wasn't able to react, not without bursting out into tears. "You've told us memories are regained during core memories, moments in time that shape you as a person. So tell me, honestly this time, when did you regain your memories of our past timeline?"
"Aizawa sensei, I really don't-" Katsuki tried, seeing how distressed Izuku got by that question, but he was cut short by an angry red glare from his teacher.
"Answer me, Midoriya."
"I-I'm sorry," Izuku choked out, trying his best to keep tears from falling, but failing miserably. "I didn't... I didn't want to worry any of you. I just..."
He trailed off, wiping his tears away with his sleeve, tensing up even more when Eraser placed a firm hand on his shoulder.
"I-I was at the hospital... It was the moment I was declared- declared quirk-"
He couldn't even say it out loud... How pathetic. The only thing Izuku was able to do was break down and cry in Aizawa's arms as the man pulled him into a hug. It was unlike the black ray of sunshine to show physical affection, but there were certain exceptions. Izuku hated how he qualified for those. Hated that he was weak and crying. Hated the pity they bestowed upon him like he was still just a child. It was belittling, humiliating. Izuku should be stronger! He needed to be stronger!
"I was declared quirkless," he choked out, trying his best to recompose himself. He was an adult for crying out loud! He shouldn't be crying in his teacher's arms! "I thought it was a dream at first... But then it just kept dragging on a-and I..."
"It's alright," Aizawa assured him. "I take it no one else knows about this?"
"We didn't tell anyone," Katsuki confirmed, answering in his stead. "Let me guess, you think they should know?"
"That's up to Midoriya to decide."
That answer surprised Izuku, making the green head look up to the hobo-looking man with big eyes.
"Y-you-"
"You've obviously got some unresolved trauma, I'm not forcing you to share it with others," Aizawa elaborated. "I do want you to go see a therapist, but that's another matter. Your fight on ground beta has raised suspicion within the faculty. They think I'm giving you special treatment."
"I mean, you are," Katsuki shrugged.
"I'm well aware, Bakugou," he sighed. "But this could become a problem if we don't do anything about it now. Which is why I'm considering informing Nezu about our situation."
"What?!" both Izuku and Katsuki exclaimed, glancing at each other for a second before looking back at Aizawa sensei.
"Do you really think that's a good idea, Aizawa sensei?" Izuku asked, unsure about it. They hadn't shared any information to people who weren't directly affected or involved. Only those with memories knew about what was really going on. Izuku wasn't sure how someone outside of the Assembly would react to it all.
"Think about it. If Nezu would know everything we know, he's sure to listen and ease up on certain restrictions," Aizawa explained.
"Ha, and the fucking principal giving us special treatment is not going to raise suspicion?" Katsuki scoffed.
"He'll be able to disguise it better," Aizawa explained, grumbling the last part of his sentence. "He may be a menace at times but that rat is smart."
"Rat god," Izuku mumbled, as if on instinct, making Katsuki snort. Rat god was a running joke amongst the students of UA, a nickname that referred to their genius yet strange principal. It had been a while since he thought of that name or actually used it, but he couldn't help but recall it when Aizawa said something like that.
"And since you're developing One For All at a much faster rate, informing All Might would be my second course of action," Aizawa told them, making Izuku tense up again.
"Informing All Might..?" he breathed. If he told his mentor, he'd know Izuku had lied to him all this time. That he had deceived him, in a way. Izuku was afraid it would put even more strain on their relationship. "Shouldn't we be discussing this with everyone? I mean, telling someone who doesn't have their memories is kinda a big deal, don't you think?"
Aizawa raised his brow, a slightly amused smile rising to his face, even if it was partially covered by his scarf. Oh, he was in for it now, wasn't he..?

Chargebolt⚡️: Omg yessss!!!
Chargebolt⚡️: Think of the special privileges!!
Ingenium💨: We need to consider this thoroughly! Not just for the privileges that could be attached to this particular arrangement!
RedRiot♥️: I mean the privileges are kinda a big part of the whole deal right??
Chargebolt⚡️: OMG WHAT IF WE DON'T HAVE TO DO THE HOMEWORK ANYMORE?!
Eraserhead: You'll still be a student and will not be exempt from tasks and tests
Chargebolt⚡️: Damnit
Uravity🙃: Not even if we ask nicely??
Creati⚜️: Having a reminder of the basics isn't truly that bad, is it?
Shoto🔥❄️: Do the privileges also include hero privileges?
Shoto🔥❄️: Because we have our licenses now and I don't want to keep pushing all responsibilities regarding Jikan to @Eraserhead
Eraserhead: Since UA functions as a part-time Hero agency for the teachers that work here, hero privileges could be provided under the guise of work studies
Eraserhead: That would require the whole staff to be informed though
Dynamight💥: Might as well
Deku📗: Wait for real @Dynamight💥??
Dynamight💥: What??
Dynamight💥: We know they're trustworthy and if we tell one of them we might as well tell all of them
Uravity🙃: @Deku📗 you're just scared to face All Might!!
Chargebolt⚡️: OOOOHHH
Ingenium💨: There is no reason to be scared, Midoriya-kun! I am certain All Might will understand!
Shoto🔥❄️: I don't see what the big deal is??
Froppy🐸: Midoriya-kun is afraid to tell his father figure that he lied and deceived him from the moment they met
Deku📗: He's not my dad!! 😖
Chargebolt⚡️: Lol I just had major secret love child flashbacks
RedRiot♥️: lol
Dynamight💥: Pffft
Shoto🔥❄️: We do not talk about that
Can'tStopTwinkling✨: Mais oui, monsieur ✨concasseur à main✨
Eraserhead: Enough
Eraserhead: I need to hear everyone's votes now
Eraserhead: Option one = telling Nezu and All Might
Eraserhead: Option two = telling the whole staff
Eraserhead: Option three = not telling anyone
Ingenium💨: Two
Creati⚜️: Also 2
Uravity🙃: 1 or 2 don't really have a preference
Froppy🐸: same 1 or 2
Can'tStopTwinkling✨: ✨2✨
Chargebolt⚡️: 2!!
RedRiot♥️: Imma go 2 too
Shoto🔥❄️: I guess the majority is choosing the second option??
Dynamight💥: I'm taking 2
Dynamight💥: It's for the best and you fucking know it @Deku📗
Deku📗: That doesn't make it any easier!! 😖
Eraserhead: It seems that we've come to a consensus
Eraserhead: I'll be informing the staff once I've documented all relevant information

"Come on Deku-kun, I'm sure things will be alright," Ochako smiled as she poked her friend during lunch. "There's no need to be so tense!"
"Besides, isn't it kind of your fault Aizawa sensei has to tell the faculty in the first place?" Tsuyu asked. "If you and Bakugou hadn't fought-"
"Not helping, Tsu," Ochako hissed, quickly shutting her down. Yeah, today was the day Aizawa was going to tell the teachers about everything. About their past timeline, about the League, about Jikan, about their connection to the yakuza, to Eri-chan. About All For One and One For All... Yeah, nothing to be nervous about at all!
"She's right though," Shoto commented, turning to face his friend. "What did the two of you even fight about? I thought you had gotten closer?"
"You do realize they're a thing, right?" Denki asked, stealing a fry from Eijirou. "I mean, they're not really subtle about it."
"Tch. Not like you have any luck getting back with your boyfriend, so I don't want any comments from the likes of you," Katsuki hissed, also snatching a fry away. Denki gasped, slapping a hand over his chest.
"Come on! If you guys wanted fries, you had to order them yourselves!" Eijirou whined, shielding his food from his friends. "Also, teasing Denks about Oshi is not cool bro."
"Yeah, you tell him Ei!"
"Guys, we're straying from the subject here," Ochako pointed out, shifting her gaze from Tsuyu to Izuku. "So why did you fight? You never told us."
"He hid Blackwhip from me, isn't that reason enough?" Katsuki scoffed.
"You could've talked about that without fighting," Shoto stated.
"You really think I can get anything through this thick skull without pounding it into him, hah?!"
"Dude, I did not want to see that mental image," Denki cringed.
"Poor choice of words," Tsuyu agreed.
"I said what I said," Katsuki grinned, making Izuku's face flush a bright red. Eijirou smirked though, leaning onto his hand as he dealt the final blow, taking this chance to get a little petty revenge for stealing his fries.
"Oh? Didn't you tell me you guys have never actually done that together?"
Now it was Katsuki's time to turn into a tomato.
"Shut up!"
"No way," Ochako snorted. "Katsuki, are you a virgin?"
"We're all fucking virgins, round face, so don't start shit with me!" the ash blonde hissed, still embarrassed as fuck about it.
"You know what I mean Blasty~" Ochako laughed.
"It's not that weird!" Izuku protested, adding in a much quieter tone. "Is it?"
"Everyone has their own pace, Midoriya-kun. There's no need to rush yourself," Tenya stated. Those words didn't make him feel any better...
"We're not talking about this," Katsuki breathed, staring down at the table in such a way that his hair covered his eyes. Izuku knew he did that whenever he didn't want to show his emotions, or in this case his embarrassment. He really wished he could do the same, but the green mess atop of his head would never fall down the way he wanted for that to happen.
"You're the one who started it," Denki pointed out, only to get blasted in the face. Izuku groaned, hiding his face in his hands as the situation around him escalated. Why did Kacchan have to say it like that? And why did Eijirou have to out them like that? That was so uncalled for! He wanted to crawl into a hole and die... All the commotion stopped when the principal's voice sounded through the intercom.
"Can Izuku Midoriya please make his way to the principal's office at once. I repeat, can Izuku Midoriya please come to the principal's office at once."
Seems like Aizawa's meeting didn't go as planned...
