~+Chapter 8+~
Sonic woke early the next morning, with Shadow basically on top of him, sleeping. Not to mention snoring like a freight train. And to top it all off, he wasn’t showing any signs of waking up.
“Shadow…” Sonic said, squirming a little under him. He had his arm around him as they slept and now Shadow had pulled Sonic almost too close. “Shadow, move.”
“But I love you Maria..” The dark hedgehog mumbled, half asleep. He hugged Sonic tighter and buried his face in his chest.
“Shadow… I can’t… breathe-!!” Sonic gasped. “Did you stay up all night or something?”
“No…” He mumbled, half opening his crimson eyes. “I’m just tiiiiirrreeddd.”
“Well, please get off me…” The azure hedgehog tried nudging Shadow off him, but he was dead weight. “Shadow!” He finally snapped.
“Fine, fine…” Shadow rolled off him and grabbed the nearby pillow as Sonic gasped for breath. He snuggled into the pillow, and with a muffled voice said “The pillow was better than you anyway..”
Sonic chuckled a little and threw the covers off him, and went into the bathroom to brush his teeth and quills. “I’m making breakfast, alright?” Sonic announced. When Shadow didn’t answer him he shook his head and walked down the hallway towards the kitchen. He grabbed a chair from the table to reach the top cupboards, and cursing at his short height he got some pancake mix down from the top shelf. He got a few eggs from the fridge, cracked them into the pan and went to throw them away. As the trash can lid closed he noticed something clear with a red stripe across it, he pricked his ears and pressed on the foot pedal again which opened it. It turned out to be an empty bottle of vodka, and Sonic’s ears fell. Shadow’s been drinking… He thought, as he sighed and closed the top again. He didn’t want to confront him about it, he would wait until he did it again, if he ever did.
In about 15 minutes Sonic had pancakes and scrambled eggs made. He put the food on plates, 3 pancakes for Shadow and only one for him. His appetite had shrunk since the… lab incident. He knocked on the wall. “Shadow, breakfast time.” There was no response, and Sonic had no choice but to wake him directly. He walked down the hallway and opened the door. “Shadow, there’s breakfast on the table.”
There was no response but a groan, and he put a pillow over his head.
“I’ll jump on you.” Sonic playfully growled. After a few seconds Sonic walked backwards and then ran at Shadow to jump on him. He landed and Shadow yelped in surprise, and they both went over the side in a heap. Sonic giggled loudly as Shadow growled, “I was trying to sleep!”
“You would have slept all day if I hadn’t woken you up!” The uke exclaimed, on top of the dark hedgehog entangled in a bunch of sheets.
“Well let’s get out of this blanket snare and I’ll think about waking up.” Shadow caressed his cheek and softly kissed him before trying to untangle them. The kiss had left Sonic blushing and when they finally got out of the blanket the blue hedgehog glomped him good morning. “Can you acrry me?” He asked with puppy dog eyes.
Shadow chuckled. “Fine.” He picked him up bridal style and carried him down the hallway, pulling the chair our for him and setting him in it.
“Thank you Shadow~” Sonic purred, starting to eat. But he did notice Shadow seemed pretty groggy and sleepy, because he dropped his fork the first time he picked it up. “Shadow, are you alright?” Sonic asked in a small voice, already half done with his pancake while Shadow only had taken the first bite.
“I feel like I have to--” Shadow broke off, got up and power walked down the hall and into the bathroom, and Sonic heard him throw up.
He sighed and followed him, Shadow had stopped retching and he was leaning on the side of the toilet, looking a bit pale.
“Perhaps it was something you ate?” Sonic asked, searching the cupboards for some pepto.
“I guess…” Shadow mumbled, taking a small cup of the pink stuff from Sonic. The azure hedgehog helped him up. “Come on, you’re gonna stay in bed till you feel better.”
“Sonic, I’m fine.” Shadow insisted.
“No, you’re not. Brush your teeth and go back to bed, alright?” Sonic only received a nod from Shadow and watched him brush his teeth, and he took him down the hall. He put the covers back over Shadow and said, “You can have your pancakes for lunch, okay?”
Shadow nodded and buried himself in his covers, sighing softly. Sonic leaned forward and kissed his cheek before going back into the kitchen. He put Shadow’s pancakes in the fridge and noticed Salem was still asleep.
“You’re lazy like Shadow, aren’t you?” He cooed, petting her ears to wake her up. The kitten did a luxurious stretch before meowing happily.
“Let’s feed you before you wake Shadow back up.” He poured the cat food into her bowl and started eating his own food again, finishing it quickly before putting it in the sink. He thought he should do Shadow a favor, so he washed the dishes, cleaned the counters, the stove, and vacuumed(which Salem did not like). As he was vacuuming he had to move one of the chairs. As he did so he spotted something black under it. He picked it up and found it was a black bow, it was small, fit for a kitten. “Hm. You must have lost this a while back.” Sonic told Salem, who was hiding under the couch. He put the vacuum away and admired how spotless the place was, then decided he might as well groom Salem as well. He found a cat comb and combed her fur, brushing out tangles and making it neat and soft. “I’m gonna spoil you. You’re gonna have a bunch of toys and I’ll go shopping for you and everything." If I had the guts to go outside, he thought. He sighed and tied the bow into her fur on her head, straightened up a few frizzies, She purred and licked his hand, and Sonic decided to watch some tv since Shadow was still asleep. So he watched Animal Planet for a few hours. As 12:30 came by, he heard footsteps trudging down the hallway. He looked up and Shadow sat next to him on the couch.
“Do you feel better now?” Sonic asked scooching over and leaning on him a little bit. In return the dark hedgehog put his arm around him and pulled him closer.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Shadow told him, looking at Salem’s bow. “Where’d you find this?”
“I was moving around funiture to vacuum and I found it under the armchair.” Sonic replied, as Salem walked across their laps to sit on the arm of the couch.
“Looks nice.. so does this whole place.” Shadow remarked, looking around. “Did you clean?”
“Yeah… there was nothing better to do and you seemed too sick to do it yourself.”
“You didn;t have to do that Sonic.” He said, looking back at him.
“It’s just a little something for letting me stay.”
Shadow kissed his cheek. “I didn’t need anything in return.”
Sonic blushed and kissed him on the lips, Shadow held it for a few second before parting from him.
“So… when should we go tell your friends you’re alive?” Shadow asked. “And the princess…”
Sonic sighed. “Shadow, the princess is only my friend, alright?”
“Friends with benefits…” Whether it was intended for Sonic to hear it or not, he still heard it and he punched Shadow in the arm, not hard enough to hurt him but hard enough to get the message across.
“Ow!” Shadow fake yelped, rubbing his arm a little.
“Just because the princess likes me doesn’t mean we’re together, got it?” Sonic told him. “I like you.”
“Alright, alright.” Shadow chuckled and kissed him again. “I guess I’m just a little jealous...” Sonic giggled a little. “I’m also worried about Amy giving you one of her ‘death hugs’... and hurting you again.”
“She won’t.” Sonic replied with confidence. “And even if she does, you’ll hold her off, right?”
Shadow chuckled. “I suppose we could all meet at the Master Emerald Shrine.”
“No Shadow.” Sonic gasped, holding onto his arm.
“Why not?” Shadow asked, looking at him.
“Can’t they all come here? Instead of going outside…”
“Sonic, you can’t stay cooped up forever.” Shadow told him firmly.
“But I don’t want to go outside…” The blue hedgehog whimpered, wrapped his arms around him and burying his face in his chest.
“Shadow sighed and pet his ears. “Remember what I said Soni. I’ll keep you safe.”
The uke only nodded,
“We’ll go to the Master-”
“No!” Sonic snapped, his voice shaking. Shadow was a little startled and sighed loudly. “Fine. They’ll all come here. Okay?” He realized he may have been a bit blunt and he lifted his chin up. “Sorry.”
Sonic gave him a kiss and looked at him with emerald green eyes. “How about we all have dinner or something? I’ll make us all something.”
Shadow shrugged. “If you want to.”
“Yay!” Sonic hugged him tightly. “Who should we invite over?”
“Tails, Knuckles, Silver, Blaze, Amy… I don’t want a lot of people over. I’m not used to crowds.”
Sonic sighed and nodded. “The princess is coming too.”
Shadow sighed. “Fine.”
Sonic smiled, kissed his cheek, and stood up to plan out dinner.
I need to ask you guys a question. Should I write a lemon? It won't be the next chapter but it will be in the future chapters, it would be the first lemon I write so I'm not sure if I would do it right. But, what do you guys think? Do you want me to write a lemon? :) Also, sorry for any typos, this was done in a hurry.
I also just realized how long this chapter is.. holy crap :o
