Cool water wrapped around my body. I didn’t fight to get back to the top where the air would fill my lungs and keep me alive. I panicked up there and just flung myself off. I heard another splash near me. Someone else jumped in. I felt an arm wrap around my body, I tried to pry it off but it was too strong. What were you thinking you idiot!?  Someone said. But I was underwater and the voice was so clear. What about Lilly? It yelled. I felt a pang in my heart as I came up above water. Air poured into my lungs.

“Hayley.” The body that saved me turned me around to face him. Ashton looked at me sorrowfully.

“How could you be so stupid?” he tried to yell but it came out as a cry.

“I don’t know.” I cried. I clamped onto him as he brought us back to shore. I buried my head in his neck, ashamed and cold.

“I’m so sorry.” I gulped.

“You scared me. I just…” His sentence was cut off by a sharp intake of breath as he cried. I wrapped my arms tighter around him.

“Is she okay?” Calum asked meeting up with us. I felt Ashton nod before handing me off to Calum.

“Bring her back home I have to go somewhere real quick.” Ashton said.

“Dude you’re soaked just come back and change then you can go.” Calum suggested. Ashton shook his head before running his fingers through his hair.

“I need to do this now.” Ashton said running off.

“Alright let’s get you home.” Calum said wrapping his arms around me. I shivered as a slight breeze swept over us. I tightened my grip and pressed my body to his to keep warm.

“Luke and Michael took Lilly to the park so it’s just me and you.” Calum said opening the front door.

“Okay.” Calum set me down on the staircase before going into the living room. I trudged up the stairs and changed into a t-shirt and yoga pants. I just tried to kill myself. I sighed. I shook my head as thoughts started to flood into my head. I made my way back downstairs and into the living room with Calum.

“You alright?” he asked as I sat down next to him. I shrugged my shoulders. Then Right there I took a chance. I crawled onto his lap and snuggled into his chest. It shocked him at first but soon he put his arms around me.

“You scared us all.” He whispered.                                                        

“I didn’t mean to. I mean, I was just frustrated and didn’t know what to do. I panicked.” I said playing with the fabric of his t-shirt.

“What made you panic?” he asked. He lifted up my chin so that my eyes would look into his.

“Everything.” This is what I always said. I never knew what made me panic I just…would.

“okay.” With that he dropped the subject. I put my head back down on his shoulder and continued to watch TV. Well he did. I just sat there and admired him. His dark brown eyes made my heart melt.. His pink lips curved into a smile as he turned to me and found me staring.

“What?” I asked as he giggled.

“Nothing.” He said smirking and looking away. My cheeks burned as he looked back into my eyes. He slowly leaned in making my stomach go crazy with butterflies. I brought my lips to his. I swear my stomach did flips and my heart was thumping like crazy as his soft lips caressed mine. He cupped my cheeks as he pulled me closer to him. I ran my fingers through his dark brown hair. Our lips moved together in sync before he pulled away.

“I’m sorry I shouldn’t have done that.” He said as he gently pushed me off.

“Calum your fine.” He shook his head.

“Ashton would kill me if he found out.” I giggled as I climbed on his lap again.

“Then he doesn’t have to know.” I said smirking. He smiled back before reconnecting our lips. Rule number one of being a good sister, never date your brothers best friend, I just broke it. But Ashton broke the number one rule of being a good brother, always protect your sister. He broke that rule two and a half years ago when he left me.
