Chapter 5

Marinette's POV

I wanted to die right there and then from embarrassment. Grandfather was there, and he had a disapproving look on his face. I sat down, and picked up the phone that connected to the other side of the glass. "You failed your mission. Explain."

I looked down, not knowing what to do. "I've told you about Lila, right?" He nodded his head. "She has gone missing, and everyone accused me of kidnapping her. I swear by the kwamis I didn't."

"Do you have a plan to fix this problem?"

"Yes. Damian said that he'll tell Bruce. They'll be able to get me out of here and I can continue. I had almost caught him. I came up with an idea about how to track the butterflies. I know who Hawkmoth is."

"Go on," he said.

"Gabriel Agreste. His assistant, Nathalie, is Mayura."

"I will send someone to take care of them-"

"Please, Grandfather. Please let me complete my mission. I've come so close. They go in me anyways," I pleaded.

A look of thought was plastered on his expression. "Ok, but then we are going back to the Order. You better get out of here "legally" or you are getting out illegally," he said with seriousness. I put my head down from being ashamed, but made a small nod.

"Please don't be mad at me Grandfather," I said, once I knew our conversation was over. "Tom and Sabine have made things even harder than they should be."

His eyes instantly softened, and he tapped on the glass to make be look at him more closely. "I'll never be mad at you, Marinette," he whispered my name, "but I am shocked you managed to get yourself into this place."

That made me think of everyone here. "Yeah, me too. But there are a lot of kids here that were innocent. For instance, my friend Sass. She's been in here since she was seven because she was near her mother when she was murdered. It's really sad."

"This happens a lot of people, Marinette. It is really sad. I'm sorry you are having to experience this."

I let out a weak smile, "Yeah, me too." I looked back at one of the guards, they pointed at their watch- saying my time was up. "I have to go. See you one way or another, Grandfather," I smiled. And he sent a sympathetic one my way.

I hung up the phone, and stood up. Then, I went to another guard. He smiled my way. Not a happy smile, but an evil one. We made our way back to the cafeteria. I was somewhat confused then he asked, "Was that man over there your grandfather?"

I answered truthfully since I didn't want to get in trouble. "Yes w-" He pulls out a large knife. "How did you get that past security?!" I screeched, backing away.

"I have my tricks, just like you!" He then attacks me, and we brake out into a sophisticated fight in the middle of the court yard.

Wait! I recognized this fighting style! Damian and I spar a LOT when his family isn't home. He's from the League of Assassins. "Why would the League want me dead," I say so only he could hear.

"I'm not in the league anymore. I wanted to kill you, Fu, and maybe even Thalia or Ra's before they kill me," he says back.

"Well, everyone here is watching. You aren't that smart!" I said as I landed a kick in his face. He spat out blood, and I didn't even have a scratch on me. "Maybe you should leave while you still can!"

He rolled his eyes, and continued on. We kept fighting, and no one came for about five minutes. I almost wanted them to leave us alone, let us fight it out. It was a pretty good workout. But, grandfather would be disappointed on me if I kept on. At the very last second, he landed a scratch on my hand, but I ignored it. The other guards held him back while I just watched with a smug smile on my face.

Ra's or Thalia is SO going to kill him. Well, that's what he gets by drawing attention to himself like that. Maybe he should have gone some where else. Now, he's going  to be put in jail, and Thalia is going to get in and kill him. That's what I have my money on.

Time Skip-

When the guards asked me how I cold fight like that, I just answered I took a lot of self-defense classes. This is Paris after all. Those gullible people believed me, and everyone else feared me. I got back to my room that night, and Kalkki was there pacing. Oh no...

Luckily, he said he's only been there for about five minutes. No one would notice. I transformed and teleported to where the akuma was. Chloe was there fighting; I joined in instantly. It took about another five minutes to defeat a because it was one of the harder akumas.

It was dark out, so I don't think anyone will notice me out of bed. "Queen Bee," I yelled as she came over. "I know who Hawkmoth and Mayura are. We can go right now," I said. She looked excited, we headed to the Agreste manor.

We creeped in using the fox miraculous. First, we went behind Mr. Agreste to get into the painting. (Don't ask how they knew it was in the painting, just go with it....) Once, we got the Peacock broach, I managed to put it where it belongs. Then, I closed it, so it didn't make a sound. Gabriel looked back at where we are, but just shrugged once he saw nothing. Then, I plucked his miraculous from his shirt, and did the same thing with it.

We were about to make another portal out of here, but we heard footsteps coming our way from the other side of the door. The door creaked open, and none other than Lila Rossi came out of it. Chloe gasped, but neither of them heard it. Chloe could see me, and I could see her, but the others can't see us.

I mouthed, "Use your power on her." She nodded, and all Gabriel would be able to see, would be Lila freezing.

He had a puzzled expression on his face, and the both of us made Lila look like she was walking out. The door shut, and I picked Lila up over my shoulders. I carried her out, and headed to the police station to tell them that I found Lila in the Agreste mansion. If they ask anymore questions, I'll just glare at them. My mission is finally over! I'll be freed from that place.

The illusion was dropped a while ago, and  Lila would unfreeze soon. We arrived at the station, and waited for her to unfreeze. Then we walked in, not waiting for her to tell us anything. "Where did you find her?!" The officer that noticed us first said.

"We followed her into the Agreste mansion. Mr. Agreste was caring for her while Sarah Mason was put in jail. Lila over here wanted to frame her! Now, she better be out of that place the first thing in the morning, or I'll come back here!" I said, throwing Lila on the floor in front of me. Then I walked out, and Chloe followed.

We reached the Eiffel Tower. "I better get back," I said to Chloe. "It might be a while until we see each other again."

She looked down, "Oh, I hate good-byes. Why'd you have to say that!?" She said as the hugged me. I smiled.

"Bye, Chloe," I then, slowly, made a portal and stepped through. The other side was pitch black, I just used my fire abilities to make some light. I waved as the portal closed. Then, I said, "Phone out."

I heard Damian's voice on the other end, "Ok, I think we have a plan to-" I cut him off.

"Dami, I found Lila. She wasn't kidnapped at all. I'll be out of here soon."

"What?! How?"

I then went on to tell him about the defeat of Hawkmoth, and how I found the lying snake in the Agreste mansion. Damian was pleased about how I told Chloe to freeze her. I silently laughed at his words, careful not to wake the other inmates.

"I'm sorry about telling your father though. If I knew I could've just done that-"

"No, Angel. It's ok. At least now, you won't have to sneak around the house using the fox miraculous."

"What about your brothers?"

"Well...."

"They know too? They are going to tease you, I'm sorry."

"It's fine. Do you want to come over right now?"

"Sure," I said, and made a portal to Damian's bedroom.
