𝕮arolina Winslet was a weapon. As the daughter of the mayor of district 1, one would think she would be kept from harm, but they turned her into the harm itself. Sharpened her into a weapon, each day, training her until her bones ached and bruises littered her body, preparing her for the day she would fight in the vicious and bloodthirsty hunger games. By the 10th annual  hunger games, when she was 17, they deemed her to be ready, and, without her name being picked from a bowl filled with the other names of girls from district 1, they marched her up to the podium and proclaimed her their first career tribute.

Both the capital  and the district were in an uproar as they watched the girl be proclaimed a tribute. A career tribute? They had never heard of such a thing. As the rest of the room around him broke into whispers, Coriolanus Snow stood silent staring up at the girl on the screen. She stood silently, eyes staring blankly to the ground below her. She looked frail, it was a wonder if they had actually trained her, or just placed her up to die. Her father, district 1's mayor, had a grip on her arm and a stern look on his face before he leaned down and whispered in her ear, and slowly her eyes looked into the camera. He couldn't quite place what he saw in her eyes, but he saw something. All he knew was that she wasn't as confident as her father, with a far off look in her eyes, the screen turned black before the scene shifted to district 2's reaping and the people settled, but their whispers didn't, whispers that named Carolina Winslet as district 1's weapon. 

The tributes had their mentors, and their mentors had a prize to win, Coriolanus had his tribute to mentor, yet his mind was taken with thoughts of another. And so, the day the tributes were transferred to the capital, with a white rose in the pocket of his red uniform, Coriolanus approached district 1's weapon. And when he looked into her eyes he could finally make out what he saw in them. Something so distinct in her eyes showed him her hunger for peace. Everyone hungers for something.
