Graphics Evolution (1 year mark)
This chapter was inspired by a good friend of mine: Jells_. She's one of the best designers I've ever met and a writing force to be reckoned with. Show that angel some love!
To celebrate my 1 year on being a Wattpad member, I decided to show my graphics journey here as well as tell you which is my favorite design thus far.
Y'all have your eye bleach ready? Because this is going to start off looking really unfortunate.
Bad Reppie:
Boy was I bad. When I was new to Wattpad, I was so lost on designing that I just took artwork and stuck ugly font on top. It had been 3-4 years since I last designed something cohesive, so copyright was lost on me.
For those that are curious, I left designing because a high school teacher made me feel like I was unworthy of dabbling in it. I thought I was good at it, but after I graduated I began to hate designing because I was reminded of the times I could never meet her standards.
A Majestic Time:
Thank you MajesticIncAwards for having me and allowing me to grow. However temporary it was being Head of Graphics, I am grateful for having had the opportunity and I can't thank you enough for reigniting my passion for design.
(I had a lot more designs, but I couldn't find them so you'll have to settle for these or the Majestic chapter at the beginning of the book)
The Turning Point:
There was one series that just turned everything around for me. The jump in quality from my previous covers to the covers for this series was so massive, the Grand Canyon started crying.
Reading and designing for amyrobinnz's wonderful series lit a fire in me. I can't quite explain it, but every design afterwards just started feeling special. I put more and more of my passion into it. I started telling myself that quality was much better than quantity. If I could just take the time to make at least 10 really good ones, then that was more worthwhile than 100 mindless ones.
I is Woke now:
In gaming lingo, when someone starts doing really well we say they're "popping off". I guess I popped off for the next 2 months.
Looking at all of them like this kind of makes me happy. I didn't think I could get back into designing as quickly as I did after a 4-year leave from the craft.
Let me know which are your favorite(s) and why!
Favorite Design:
This was a no brainer. The amount of work that went into it as well as the sheer amount of resources required to make this flaming bird.
I proved to myself that if I could put an entire phoenix piece by piece, I can do any design or manip. Now that I'm a little bit more experienced, I think I might go back in and finesse this cover some more by cleaning up the tail feathers, PaigeCunha22.
Well, that's it! Thank you for supporting me! Here's to another year or so to better looking designs that puts smiles on not just the readers' faces, but also to the authors who work so damn hard.
