the one where they make a name

October.

I shut my apartment door with my foot, throwing my bag on the couch as Michael timidly followed behind me, bouncing on his legs to rid himself of the cold weather.

"Luke will be here soon, he's just spending some guy time with Calum and Ash," I smiled at him, walking into the kitchen to look for a snack that we could both eat while waiting.

Michael was still acting a bit suspicious, ever since we arrived home from Canada, yesterday. He seemed a bit more distant; I still hadn't told him what had happened in the past twenty-four hours (though now that I think about it, it would've been kind of weird to share it with him like he were a girl and not a boy), and I was starting to question whether or not this involved our talk. We seemed to be fine in the airport, what about now?

"Alright," he spoke softly, grabbing the remote from the coffee table and switching on the television. I leaned against the edge of the counter, crossing my arms as I watched him.

"Michael."

No reply.

"Michael."

"Oh, yeah?" He replied, pretending he hadn't heard me and turned around, attempting to look me in the eye, but seemed like he just looked past me.

"What's wrong?" I question, slowly making my way towards Michael as I sit in the spot close to him. I could practically see him trying not to squirm.

Something was up. And I was going to find out exactly what.

He didn't say anything for a while as I waited for a response, when he shifted hesitantly in his spot, knees pointing towards me as he brought his legs up. "I just- I just have something simple to ask you. Is that alright?" He looked up at me from his lashes patiently as he fiddled with the fabric of his jeans.

I tilt my head, flashing him a puzzled look, as my harsh glare softened. "You can tell me anything. I'm all ears, then."

"Where do you plan on being next month?"

I furrow my eyebrows, a little confused by his random question. "Um, I don't know? Why're you asking?"

"Because I- I just want to know what we are going to be doing, you know? Planning for the future."

"It's only a month, I honestly don't know. What could possibly be so important that is to happen? Why're you acting so weird?" I chuckle awkwardly, though I was one hundred percent serious.

He clicked his tongue and nodded, bringing his legs down and turning to watch the show on TV. But I wasn't done with the conversation, yet.

"Michael, what do you mean?"

Again, no reply. So I hit him on the shoulder.

"Ow! What was that-"

"What do you mean where will I be next month? Are you expecting me to be somewhere?" I was starting to get impatient; Michael and I never kept anything from each other, and now, he was acting a big immature. What was this, seventh grade?

"Kind of, yeah," he muttered, and I was about to question him again, when the door flew open, revealing none other than my boyfriend himself, and his two jumpy friends behind him. Ashton gasped as soon as his eyes landed upon me.

"Tobe!" he sang cheerily, bumping past Calum and Luke as I stood up happily from the couch, as he brought his arms around me and hugged me tightly.

"Missed you."

"I was gone for three days."

"Still missed you," he shrugged, pulling away when I felt a tug on my elbow. Luke stood next to me, as he bit his lip, then averted his attention to Ashton.

"Hey," he warned teasingly, "My girl. And you forgot Michael." I turn to Michael as he shuffled over next to me, giving Ashton a bro-style hug, one arm and everything.

"Now we have the team together," Calum giggled, arranging us in a group circle as he stuck his fist out in the middle. Ashton chuckled, slapping his hand down.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"I thought it was like, a team handshake, or something," Calum pouted, drained from all of the excitement that he built up. "We're, like, the Power Rangers. Or, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It would've been cool."

"We are not doing that," Luke laughed mockingly, grabbing my waist from behind and pulling me closer and leaning down to whisper in my ear, his breath hot on the skin. "I missed you, baby."

I roll my eyes and push him away, hiding the color on my face with my sweater paw and he just bounced back, pulling me in front of him, resting his chin on my shoulder with his hands on my waist. God.

"Actually, it sounds kind of cute," I added, trying to distract myself, "We should have like, a name of some sort."

"Still lame. But now that Tobe's into it, so am I." Michael smiled, and I returned the gesture, nodding as I felt Luke's arm tighten around my waist. "What should we call ourselves?"

"The... Super Mega-Awesome Cool Group?" Ashton suggested, and we erupted into laughter at his grade two-like group name suggestion.

Michael brought his hand up to his lip and pinched it, eyeing each one of us as we stood in a group circle - Luke trying to distract me from behind, of course, by leaving quick kisses on my neck, and stopping whenever I shifted in my position, pretending like he had never done it.

Then, Michael snapped his fingers, giggling like he just discovered Mars, or something.

Knowing Michael for three years, that is what he'd do if he discovered Mars. Giggle. And then say, "I just discovered Mars." And that was that.

"Five sauce."

I pulled my head back, leaning onto Luke's as I (attempted to) turn my head towards Michael. "Five sauce? As in..."

"Five, sauce. Like, jalapeño sauce. Since there's five of us, and we're all really hot." He grinned smugly, as if his idea could cure all of the problems in the world.

"That's terrible."

"Actually," Ashton raised his eyebrows and pointed towards Michael, "Sounds kind of nice. Except for the 'sauce' part. Anyone got ideas?"

"SOS," Luke stated, taking his chin off of my shoulder and joining the conversation. "Like, es-oh-es, not sauce. Sauce does sound weird."

"Five Save Our Souls? What are we, a punk band?" Calum added, and nodded at Luke, "But I do like the 'SOS' part. We just need to find another abbreviation. Tobe, ideas?"

"Nah," I shrugged, "I named my pet turtle Summer when I was twelve, because my dad got it for me in the summer. I'm not very creative."

They all nodded once more, and I cross my arms, feeling a pull on my waist once more. "Summer," Luke mumbled into my ear, his nose nudging my temple. "So promiscuous. I like it."

"Oh my God, stop," I laugh quietly, inching myself closer to Michael, who put his arm loosely around my shoulder. Luke pouted.

"Maybe 'summer' could be part of the 'SOS' part, you know, in honor of your pet turtle." Ashton shrugged, and I nodded. "Five something-something-Summer. Starting to sound good."

A silence filled the room, as we all pondered on different names. Then, Luke threw his arms up, "I can't think of anything. Okay, so I have an idea. I'll set a time, and once it's over, we all have to name the first two words that start with 's' and 'o', and we'll pick from there. Ready?" He rubbed his hands together as if he was about to compete in a battle.

"Wait, wait. How long do we have?" Calum questioned, glancing at my impatient boyfriend who seemed proud of his idea.

"Let's say, about five seconds, or so? It puts more pressure-"

"I got it!" Michael cheered, "Five Seconds of Summer. Luke inspired me."

"But I didn't even count yet," Luke whined, and I made my way back over to him, wrapping my arms around his torso. He hummed, "All better, now. And all right. Five Seconds of Summer. Does that sound good?"

We all broke into childish grins as Calum stuck out his fist in the middle, and I followed after, then Michael, then Luke, and lastly, Ashton. "Five es-oh-es, unite!"

We all pulled away laughing, except Michael, who grimaced. "Yuck. 'SOS' as in, 'es-oh-es'? We should make it, 'five sauce'. You know, so it doesn't sound like we're dying and need saving."

"Alright, alright! God, this is exhausting. Five Seconds of Summer, or 'five sauce' it is, then. Now, shoo." Luke waved them off, grabbing my arm and plopping me down on the couch with him.

Ashton scoffed, but started towards the door, anyways. "Fine. Looks like the lovebirds need some time alone. We'll see you guys whenever, yeah?"

I tried to stand up, but Luke pulled me back down, and I was helpless under his grip. "Yeah, I'll see you. Bye, 5SOS."

"Bye Tobes," Michael cheered, kissing me on the cheek and walking out behind Calum and Ashton, as they shut the door.

"Jealous." I chuckle, pushing Luke by his shoulder and scooting towards the arm of the couch, opposite from where he was sitting.

"No," he grabbed my ankles and pulled them towards him as I shriek, but halt myself as he crawled on top of me, balancing his weight with one leg on the floor. "The only thing I am is yours."

"Mine," I close my eyes as his lips trailed down my neck, leaving soft kisses as he sucked gently on my collarbone. "All mine."

"All yours." He repeated, and I reach for the hem of his t-shirt, pulling it up and throwing it over his head.
