After meeting with an optometrist, we discovered that I have hyperopia, meaning that I can only see objects far away. My doctor, who was a nice old woman, explained that to me and then told me that my glasses wouldn't be ready for about three days.

So I ended up just picking out the frames, which were black and round, just think Harry Potter and you got it.

After that, Tenzo took me to a clothing store leading me around and picking out clothes for me.

"What do you think of this shirt Yuuto?" Tenzo asked, holding up a shirt while standing halfway across the store.

"Looks good." I shrug, looking at the white tank top.

"And how about this to go overtop?" He asked, holding up a gray long sleeved coat with no hood.

"Okay, what about pants and shoes?" I ask.

"How about these pants, and these shoes?" He suggests, holding up dark blue sandals and black pants that went just past my knees.

"Looks good." I shrug.

Tenzo pays for the clothes out of pocket and I can't help but wince. I felt incredibly guilty that he was buying stuff for me, some kid the Hokage ordered him to watch.

"I'll pay you back eventually."

Tenzo laughed. "With what money?"

"I'll get a job." I reply.

"You're seven." He deadpanned.

"I could always fudge the truth." I smirk.

"Don't worry about it," He said, ruffling my hair. "The Hokage will give me a little extra to help take care of you, not to mention that I live by myself and take missions ranging from B to A-rank, with the usual S-rank here and there."

"Oh." I said, feeling better.

~~~~~
Two steaming bowls of ramen sat in front of us, but neither of us had begun to eat any of it.
"So," Tenzo said, poking at his noodles with his chopsticks. "Shouldn't we get to know each other better?"
"I mean, I'm going to be living with you, so yes." I reply intelligently.
"Then I'll start, my name is Tenzo, I'm an ANBU captain, I can use wood release along with earth and water release. I'd like to see Orochimaru be brought to justice." Tenzo said.
"At least we have something in common." I chuckle, starting to eat my ramen.
"Your turn." Tenzo said.
"My name is Yuuto, I'm seven years old and will be eight on May 13th. I enjoy archery, although it's been so long since I last practiced, I'm not sure how well I could do it. Like you, I want Orochimaru to be brought to justice." I introduce myself formally.
I would've said much worse things about him, but saying that I wanted someone murdered at the age of seven wouldn't have gone down well.
"You like archery?" He asked.
"Yes, I used to practice all the time after my parents got me my first bow." I reply sadly.
Tenzo skirted around my parents. "Interesting, not many shinobi want to use a bow."
"Really?"
"Yes," He nods, then turning to me. "Speaking of which, do you plan on becoming a shinobi?"
"Of course!" I exclaim. "I wouldn't turn an offer like that down! I've already used my chakra, why would I stop?"
"Then it's a good thing that you have me here to teach you." He grinned.
"You're sure to give me a leg up on everyone else!" I smirk.
We slurped down the rest of our supper, paying a nice man named Teuchi who owned the stall.
The streets had now darkened, most civilians retreated indoors, meaning that the population of shinobi and kunoichi outside was now at its peak.
Tenzo, dressed in standard ANBU uniform and with a tanto strapped to his back, fit in quite well. I would've also fit in, however, I'm a lot shorter than almost all the people outside and had no weapons on my person at all.
"Where do you live anyway?" I asked, looking around the dimly lit streets. "Apartment? House? Dumpster?"
"Apartment." He replied. "It's only me there after all, what's the point in having a huge house if it's just me?"
"Good point." I agreed. "So are we almost there?"
"It's just ahead, and also on the top floor." Tenzo replied.
"Top floor? Does that mean I could climb onto the roof?" I asked eagerly.
"Yes, but it depends on how you want to get onto the roof." He yawned. "There's a ladder leading to the roof, but you could also climb out a window and use chakra to climb up the wall."
I forgot chakra could do that for a minute there.
"Cool." I said, yawning back.
Can't wait to climb into a bed.
~~~~~

"Welcome to my home."

Tenzo threw open the door and let me step inside first.

"I can't see much of it." I huffed. "No glasses and the lights are off."

I could practically feel Tenzo's eye roll. The lights flickered on and I squinted at the apartment, making out a kitchen and living room.

"The hallways off to your right." Tenzo said, pointing at it. "Door on the left is my room, the one on the right is yours, and at the end of the hallway is the bathroom."

"Thanks, I'm going to head to bed now." I yawn.

"Goodnight Yuuto." Tenzo says, closing the door to his bedroom.

"Night!" I call before closing the door to my own room.

I kicked off my shoes, tore off my coat, and hopped into my new bed, not bothering to take in the room.

My wings wrap around my body and I fall into a deep sleep.

One riddled with nightmares.

~~~~~
Dammit, I got lucky.
It's now day three of living with Tenzo and I've discovered that he is actually an amazing cook. Every day we ate delicious home cooked meals together.
It was quite a pleasant routine.
Now I stood in front of the kitchen sink, rubber gloves over my hands. I had to stand on a step stool unfortunately while washing the dishes. My wings and tail hung free, no point in hiding them if I don't have too.
We were about to go get my glasses.
I can't wait to see!
~~~~~

I stared into the mirror, twisting my face this way and that.

"You look so cute!" The old woman (my optometrist) cooed.

"Thanks." I replied.

My glasses had black circular frames and slipped down my nose every few minutes.

They didn't look bad on me.

~~~~~
I enjoyed being able to see properly and took in all the details I could. Tenzo's face was exactly how I imagined it the first time he took his mask off.
"So, I have a little surprise for you." Tenzo said.
"A surprise? What for?" I asked, pushing up the bridge of my glasses.
"It's a gift to celebrate you starting the academy tomorrow." He explained.
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that." I sighed.
I have to act seven again. Not looking forward to that.
"You sound disappointed." Tenzo noted.
"I'm not disappointed, just not looking forward to interacting with other people." I explained.
"You do seem like the anti-social prodigy type." He nodded.
"Prodigy?"
"You talk, and act far beyond your years." Tenzo explained further.
"I guess." I shrug.
Tenzo stops in front of a building.
"Whether you believe it or not. It's true." He shrugged back. "By the way, we're here."
Tenzo walks into the shop with confidence. Walking in with a smile like he owned the place.
"Can I help you?" A woman asked from behind the counter.
"Yes, actually," He replied, clearing his throat. "I'm here to pick up an order."
"And your name?" She asked.
"Tenzo."
The young woman went through a set of swinging double doors disappearing for a few minutes.
I glanced at Tenzo, who just gave me a grin and a shrug.
The woman returned with two bundles wrapped in brown cloth. She then laid them down on the counter.
"Here they are." She said, spreading her arms to gesture at them.
Tenzo smiled at me and waved a hand at the packages. "Well? Open them!"
I unwrapped them and sucked in a sharp breath.
It was a bamboo bow with a quiver of arrows.
I stepped back for a moment, choking on a sob.
"So," The woman working behind the counter said. "You going to pay for that?"
A/N
I visited my mom in the hospital today and she's doing so well! Although she can't move her left hand, she's making huge progress! She even stood up today!
