~35~
I was surpised that I didn't wake up to the sound of Haku's voice or Haku's cooking. Instead I woke up on my own. I rolled over and looked at my alarm clock, sighing when I saw it was already two in the afternoon. I sighed and put on a pair of shorts and my glasses, not bothering with my shirt which was tattered and ripped.
"I need new clothes..." I sighed, running a hand through my hair.
I yawned and left my bedroom, heading towards the living room to see if Haku was up. I smiled a little when I saw Haku sleeping on the sofa peacefully. I figured the chuunin exams really wore him out, and I don't have the heart to wake him up. I shrugged and walked back into my room, grabbing a book and sitting down in a chair to wait.

I slowly blinked my eyes and yawned as I woke up. The sound of a page being flipped made me bring my attention to the left of the room. Yuuto sat in a chair with his tail across his lap as he read a book. My face heated up once I noticed that he wasn't wearing a shirt, letting me see his scaly chest.
"Did you sleep okay Haku?" Yuuto asked, shutting his book and looking at me.
"I did, but what time is it?" I asked.
"Not sure, but I think it's almost three in the afternoon." He replied, tapping his chin in thought.
"I slept for that long?!" I exclaimed, remembering my plans and rushing out of bed.
I was so busy panicking that I didn't notice that Yuuto had stood up and blocked the way to the bathroom. I bumped into his chest, but his tail caught my back before I could fall.
"Slow down Haku," He chuckled. "Go get ready and then we can figure out what to do today."
I blushed furiously and Yuuto gave me a warm smile, moving out of the way. I scurried into the bathroom covering my face with my clothes clutched to my chest.

I chuckled at how flustered Haku seemed as he rushed past me into the bathroom, thinking about how cute he looked... Cute.... Dear lord...
I went to my room and put on a tank top that was now a little small on me because of my new height. I then went back into the living room and sat in an armchair to wait for Haku.
Haku came out of the bathroom with his usual clothes on and then he walked into the kitchen.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Making breakfast?" He replied, although it was more of a question.
"Do you want to go out instead? It's also a little late for breakfast." I asked, pointing out the time.
"Good point." He sighed. "Where should we go?"
"Barbeque?" I suggested.
"Sounds good! Let's go!" He replied, smiling sweetly.
Almost immediantly after we left the apartment I could feel the nervousness settling into the pit of my stomach. My wings and tail were now to large to be hidden and my body was covered in scales. I didn't want to admit it, but I was terrified of the looks I would get from people who were my supposed 'friends.'
I guess Haku could sense how nervous I was, because he grabbed my hand and gave it a squeeze.
"I don't see you any differently then before. No one else's opinion matters." He said, looking into my eyes with a fierce look.
I felt my face heating up and I quickly looked away.
"Yeah, thanks Haku..." I mumbled, giving him a shy smile.
"No problem. Let's get going!" Haku said cheerfully, pulling me along by the hand.
Haku seemed awfully cheerful. And it was a little suspicious.
I let him drag me through the street, trying to force down the blush that dusted my cheeks.

"Operation ensure their date is a success, is a go!" I spoke into the communicator.
"Roger that, moving in for phase one. Glare at anyone and everyone for so much as glancing at them!" The speaker crackled back.
"Initiate phase two, loudly gossip about a really romantic spot that's special to them." I said, holding down the button.
"Roger that!" The speaker crackled back.
"This ship musn't fail!" I whispered to myself.

Haku was still holding my hand, his fingers entwined with mine. I thought people would look at us with disgust, but no one glanced at us and they hurried away quickly once we came into view.
I almost wanted to pull my hand away because my face was so hot and it was embarrassing, but another part of me loved the feeling of our hands being connected.
"Oh look!" A withered, and oddly familiar voice said. "The lanterns on the Hokage monument have been set up for the spring festival tomorrow!"
"I bet it will look pretty lit up at night." Haku said, a small smile gracing his lips.
"Yeah." I agreed, a light blush dusting my face.
We continued walking through the streets, which didn't have many people on it, until we came to my favorite barbeque place.
"I love this place's barbeque!" I exclaimed, my mouth watering.
Haku giggled, using a hand to cover his mouth and ushered me inside.
"Let's go get a seat!" Haku said cheerfully, leading me to a booth in the corner.
The booth had soft red leather seats and the table had a grill in the middle to cook the meat. I sat down on one bench and Haku took a seat across from me.
A woman came out of the kitchen and approached us with a smile, however when she saw me her face cringed in disgust. I looked away from the womans harsh gaze and gave Haku a pleading look.
"If you're only going to judge go away and get someone capable of taking our order." Haku hissed, giving the woman the scariest glare I've ever seen.
His harsh glare even made shivers run down my spine, but another feeling settled in my gut, making me smile at how he was being protective.
"S-sorry! Y-you're o-orders?" She spluttered, her hands shaking as she brought out a pad of paper and a pen.
"An order of fish for me." Haku said politely.
"Order of pork please." I ordered, being polite despite the look she gave me.
"C-coming right u-up!" She stuttered before rushing into the kitchen.
Once the woman was out of sight I looked at Haku with a small smile.
"Thank you." I said, giving him a grateful smile.
"I-It was no problem!" He replied quickly, his ears turning red. "B-besides, she needed to be taught some manners!"
I just chuckled at his flustered appearence and felt myself blushing.
I really am falling for Haku.

Cute or sappy? I can't decide.
