They went into a men's clothing shop, but Wei Wuxian didn't have any clue of what he should buy, since he never met the birthday man. Then they walked to the gadget shop, and yet still nothing. Wei Wuxian finally sat outside on a bench while groaning out loud.

"This is so frustrating! I have no idea at all what a twenty four years old man would like for a birthday present!" Lan Wangji only smiled and handed Wei Wuxian a rum raisin and baileys ice cream, which he devoured right away. "Unlike you, who knows exactly what I like." Wei Wuxian gave Lan Wangji a sloppy kiss that tastes like ice cream. Then he jumped back as if remembering something. "Baby, how stupid I was to not remember that you're also almost twenty four." Wei Wuxian gave Lan Wangji her most dazzling smile. "So tell me, what do you want for your birthday?"

Lan Wangji smiled back and cupped Wei Wuxian's face lovingly.

"I already have everything I've ever wanted for my birthday."

"Right. So, it's impossible for me to half myself and give the other half to the birthday boy."

"Don't you even dare thinking that. You're mine. Only mine." Lan Wangji kissed Wei Wuxian hard, and it made Wei Wuxian gasp in surprise.

"Yes, yes, I'm yours. Should I just bring the thirty years old Glenfiddich that we have a lot of, then?"

Right at that time Lan Wangji's phone rang, and it was from Lan Xichen. He frowned but he answered it.

"Wait a second, it's my brother. Yeah, brother."

"Don't tell me that I've never done anything for you, baby bro."

"What?" Lan Wangji was confused. Wei Wuxian then signaled him that he wanted to see another store and he nodded.

"Grandpa is back in town and he's planning a surprise birthday party for you this Saturday. Hell, he even planned to introduce you to a girl that he met during one of his escapades, he said the girl was perfect for you. There. Be wary. Be very very wary of grandpa's matchmaking. Oh, and you're not supposed to know about all of this, I told you since I know how much you hated surprise parties. Just bring Wei Ying and introduce her to grandpa when he asks you to come over. Case closed."

Lan Wangji wanted to laugh when he heard what his brother was telling him about. This ain't a coincidence. So the birthday boy was him after all, and the older gentleman was actually his grandpa. This was not surprising actually, judging from Wei Wuxian and his grandpa's personality, which would put them in the same situation sooner or later.

"Thanks for informing me, brother." He chuckled. "And don't worry about the matchmaking, I'm sure grandpa will like Wei Ying as much as I do."

Lan Wangji ended the call and looked for Wei Wuxian, who walked around to windowshop and was still confused about what to buy. Lan Wangji found him drooling in front of the Asian sweet pork jerky shop, instead of looking for gifts.

"We can buy that in bulk and give some of them as birthday presents." Lan Wangji was not joking since he knew his grandpa loved this jerky, although his mom forbade him to eat too much since it was so sweet.

"Can we?" His eyes shone so bright, Lan Wangji was ready to buy the shop for him.

"Of course you can." Lan Wangji kissed Wei Wuxian's forehead fondly. God, he loved this person so much, with all his quirkiness and all.

"Don't mind me if I do then." Wei Wuxian skipped happily into the shop and he bought the original flavour and spicy ones for himself. He also bought candied bacon in bulk since it was Shen Qingqiu and Liu Qingge's favourite snack. Since the purchase was so many, Lan Wangji told them to deliver the goods to Cloud Recess Hotel.

"I feel that pork jerky is not sufficient for a birthday gift." Wei Wuxian suddenly exclaimed when they were back at the car. "I'm going to add that thirty years old Glenfiddich, so if anything goes wrong, we still can eat and drink the gift."

As a matter of fact, Glenfiddich also his grandpa's favourite liquor, so instead of giving the grandson, him, a birthday gift, they would only gain grandpa's favor more. He just hoped that a certain person would not come and ruin the atmosphere.

"If all else fails, you probably should seduce the grandson." Lan Wangji smirked. He could not wait to see Wei Wuxian's face when he found out that it was him all along. But Wei Wuxian looked at him with suspicion in his beautiful galaxy eyes.

"And you're saying that you're not gonna throw tantrums once I do that? Although I'm not sure about the grandson, he could be a leader of a biker gang for all I know. Not that I care. Probably it's a good idea, maybe I can seduce him out of a bike."

"You know, with the money you took from Jin Guangshan you could probably buy any bike you want."

"Yeah, but what's the fun in that?" Wei Wuxian grinned and he quietly hatched a plan in his brain. "Oh, I just remember that Grandpa Mo owed me a bike, since the last time we ate spicy crawfish, I beat him by a few pieces. Boy that was fun."

That sounded like his grandpa, betting extravagant things over trivial stuff, like eating spicy crawfish. It also showed that his grandpa really liked Wei Wuxian since he never did that with anyone he did not like.

"I'm sure it was."

Jin Su was sitting inside the coffee shop with a glass of iced coffee in front of her. This was one of the few rare times that the woman allowed her to leave the house she was staying in. It was more like a prison actually, but she could not do anything about that since this woman, and that crazy Meng Airan were taking turns on watching her. The few times she managed to flee, Meng Airan caught her and taught her a lesson she would not forget for a lifetime.

"Your time will come. Soon. Be patient." 

That was what the woman told her every time she saw her become restless. But what time? Why her? She just wanted to get out and back to her husband and daughter, why did they keep her without her consent? And the drugs they gave her always made her sleepy. She did not have the perception of time anymore. 

Sometimes, she was aware that there were people in her room, doing things to her that felt good, but sometimes it hurt bad. She just did not remember anything clearly ever since the woman took her from the clothing shop that her family were in. 

Did they miss her? Did they look for her? Her daughter must have been worried sick when she could not find her mother. Did her husband look for her everywhere, and now he was in deep sadness because he could not find her? Worry not, husband, she would be back soon.

Jin Su was so deep in thought that when the object of her daydream passed her by, she almost did not see him. But she glanced at the last second and she caught the sight of Lan Wangji kissing a woman in black hair in the middle of daylight, and then they walked hand in hand outside. 

She was stunned. Her heart was aching so bad she almost keeled from the pain.

Was it that long already since she was gone, that her husband found another woman already? What about their daughter? 

Jin Su suddenly stood up and she started to run outside to catch up with Lan Wangji and his new girlfriend. That bitch must be seducing her husband so he easily changed his affection. She had to do something about it. Lan Wangji had always been hers, no one could take him away from her. Not until she died.

But when she got out of the coffeeshop, someone snatched her long hair and dragged her out to a secluded place then slammed her down to the ground.

"I know you are going to run away bitch." Meng Airan was her designated warden today, and she could be very cruel. "Did you like the punishment we gave you last time, so you want to have it all again?" She snickered at the contorted face of Jin Su. The punishment was her being tied on all four and many people would take turns with her, either fucking her or hitting her with a whip, if she's lucky. If not, they did her together until she passed out from the pain. She was blindfolded and gagged so she could not see nor scream. 

Fortunately the woman came back right at that time, and she scolded Meng Airan.

"Don't hurt her face, she's still kinda useful, you know. Although she went nuts, her body is still good to go, at least for another couple years, if she could last that long." She then grabbed Jin Su's face. "I told you that your turn will come. I took you here to see that the husband you've been bragging about? He is in love with another woman already, and they planned to get married soon. They already forgot about you, so be a good girl and follow my instructions before the boss decides that you have no worth anymore."
