" What other one? " Lan Wangji asked Xie Lian in horror. Would this mean…?
"This talisman, the Stygian Tiger, it was supposed to come in a pair . This is only one-half of the whole talisman." Xie Lian massaged his temple in frustration. "I just remember that the other half was in Xianxian's possession back then. Do you not know about that, Lan Wangji?" He looked at Lan Wangji questioningly.
"Xie Lian, you know that Wei Ying had literally a warehouse full of stuff like that, and I was not privy to it back then." Lan Wangji was as frustrated as them all now, maybe more.
"You know what? I'm still going to give it a try. Maybe the body could not regain its full power until we have the other one, but I think it's better than the other option. What do you think, Lan Wangji?" Xie Lian quickly recalculated everything to fit this new unpredictable equation. What he did was not a child's play, nor as easy as it looked. It needed his full concentration and full power to transmigrate a soul into another body. That was the reason why he suspected that someone powerful enough was the one behind Wei Wuxian's unknown demise. He had to do whatever it took to keep Wei Wuxian alive and investigate who was trying to imprison him in such an unconventional way.
"I think we have to think what's best for Wei Ying. Although I don't like what you were saying, I hate it more if we did not do everything we could to save him." Lan Wangji gently touched Wei Wuxian's face. "Do whatever you think is best, Xie Lian. I trust you."
Xie Lian liked Lan Wangji more and more.
This man was level headed enough to think with his logic despite the turmoil he must have felt in his heart. Good. Great. His Xianxian needed a man like this. He was satisfied to know that Wei Wuxian was taken care of by a great man.
"Good. I expect nothing less from you, Lan Wangji." Xie Lian then took the talisman and told everyone to step back in a distance, except Lan Wangji. "Take off your shirt. I need to draw blood from your heart."
Lan Wangji complied. He took off the shirt, to reveal the dragon tattoo on his back, and when Xie Lian saw it, he was surprised, then he smiled. "Seems like I made the right choice, Lan Wangji. You're a lucky man. Now, lie down here, start to count to one hundred and keep your breathing slow. I will start the array." Xie Lian took off his half gloves to show the glowing red tattoos on his hands. It looked like a string of ancient runes, which covered all ten of his fingers and the palm of his hands.
"You don't need… knife?" Lan Wangji was baffled with this strange ritual. He was a man of science, so these… magical arrays, transmigration, and everything else that happened, were like fantasy fiction to him. But as he saw Xie Lian's hand, he started to doubt everything he had ever believed in until today.
"I'm the Great Sage, I don't need a knife to draw blood from your body. Remember that if somehow you ever think of doing my Xianxian wrong." Xie Lian smiled sweetly and his glowing finger drew something in the air. The array. And he slammed it to Lan Wangji's chest, right at the place where his heart was. The circle with written runes was glowing straight after it touched his skin, and he suddenly felt a heavy pressure in his chest, then he felt weak.
"Breathe. Slowly. And don't panic." Xie Lian drew another circle and put it gently on the Angel Devourer's body. Then in his forehead appeared a glowing red trident mark, and he spoke in a strange language which activated the talisman. It glowed bright and Xie Lian pushed it down inside the array that he made on the body, then as sudden as it was, Lan Wangji felt like his blood was vacuumed off his body.
The pressure was so mind blowing, he unconsciously tried to struggle, when he felt a cold hand hold him down gently and comfort him. Lan Wangji looked up and saw Hua Cheng, who nodded to him. "It's alright, brother. You're going to be fine." Hua Cheng could say that because he had first-hand experience with something like this, when he was a child back then. He thought that he was going to die, but this… angel saved him, and gave him back his life. And now, after he found him in the underground secret lab of his best friend's uncle, of all places, he would never let him go again.
"Thank you, Hua Cheng isn't it? Beautiful name. As beautiful as the person." Hua Cheng inadvertently blushed at the compliment. Too bad Lan Wangji could not see it.
But Shen Qingqiu did.
And he was amazed seeing the unflappable and cold Hua Cheng blushed like a maiden.
Shen Qingqiu shook his head in amazement.
These bachelors were dropping down like flies.
But it all made sense since the cousins, Wei Wuxian and Xie Lian, had that kind of presence that could make anyone go weak in their knees with just one look, one word. But the bad thing was, if the one who fell into their temptation had a weak mind, it would make them crazy. Just like the Wen boy who went into the deep end because he caught a glimpse of Wei Wuxian's soul.
"This is so fun to watch." Liu Qingge whispered to Shen Qingqiu then chuckled lightly.
"I know, right. This is going to be much more fun than I thought."
Chen Yu was baffled beyond belief.
He had thought that his cousin actually had some kind of epiphany when he changed for the best, turned out it was some kind of supernatural occurence that he himself had a hard time believing. But seeing as the proof was right in front of his eyes, he was sort of enlightened. If he could succeed in fixing his nanobots, this kind of… supernatural… magic… whatchamacallit, would not be needed. Even living forever would not be impossible. Well that was his own target. Not living forever, but for the sake of medical progress. But that was still a looong way to go.
True he was kind of sad when Lan Wangji told him that Mo Xuanyu was already dead when he actually changed into a different person altogether. Wei Wuxian, that was what they call him. Some kind of a figure that everyone loved and admired, unlike his cousin. But after knowing that that person was the one who inhabited Mo Xuanyu's body for the last month, he finally knew why they all loved him. Because he also grew fond of him too. Not in romantic sense, hell he was his cousin no matter how he looked at it, but in an admiration, just like the others did. Hell, if Lan Wangji the Ice Prince could be that smitten to Wei Wuxian, he was pretty sure that the man himself was an extraordinary one to be able to make so many people be that loyal to him.
But somehow, he was feeling rather… suffocated.
So instead of staying and watching the… whatever the hell it was that happened right now, he excused himself with checking on the recently hurt as his… well, excuse.
Chen Yu walked back to the main floor, and entered the makeshift room for the two people that were hurt. The woman, Wen Qing, was recovering nicely. But the boy… well, the cuts were almost gone, but the… mutilation of the private part, was unrecoverable. And he was still in a coma. The woman was standing vigil beside her brother's comatose body.
Chen Yu knocked lightly to let her know that he was there. The woman was surprised, then she quickly wiped her tears with the corner of her sleeve.
"Hi, I'm… Chen Yu. I'm Mo Xuanyu's cousin." He entered and offered his hand, which she took and shook lightly.
"Hi there. I'm Wen Qing. Thank you for your… help." Her voice was trembling.
"It's nothing. How are you? How's your brother?" He sat at one of the chairs. "How are you coping?"
Wen Qing looked forlorn. She was quiet for a long time before she answered.
"I guess… I'm still trying to make sense of everything. Of what my brother did." She touched her brother's hand lightly, as if to make sure that he was still there.
"It will take some time. But I'm sure it will be alright." Chen Yu patted Wen Qing's hand lightly, then he stood up to check up on the other patient. "Please let me know if there's anything you need. The others are… quite busy right now. But I'm sure they will be finished soon."
"Yes, thank you again. I will stay here until he wakes up in case anyone is looking for me."
Chen Yu nodded and he left the room. He then entered the other room where the last patient was resting.
