Chapter Three: Trust and Tears

(Y/n) walked into his room, awaiting the scent of iron and salt to burn his nostrils. It was still there, but it was fainter. He glanced at his bed, noticing the letter was not where he left it. (Y/n) cursed under his breath, noticing something else that was alarming. I didn't use my key to get in. The door was unlocked.

(Y/n) double checked his room, making sure he wasn't being paranoid. When he was sure he was missing the envelope, he left his room and made sure to lock the door behind him. (Y/n) didn't exactly want to tell an adult about the letter, so he went about searching for it on his own.

He ruled out the people who he knew couldn't have done it. The problem was, that was almost everyone in the class. All his classmates had been in the classroom in the morning and after lunch. During lunch, on the other hand, he remembered that Mina wasn't there, and he recalled seeing her leave the cafeteria with Uraraka.

He hated to doubt one of his closest friends, but he didn't exactly want anyone reading the note sent to him by his father. The words used were suspicious, and it was none of their business anyway.

(Y/n) felt terrible even thinking about questioning Mina, after all, she had become like his best friend. So, instead of heading straight to her room, he went to Mineta's. Sure, he saw the creep in the cafeteria, but the weirdo was so small he could have slipped out. Not to mention his creepy nature was suspect.

He walked down the hall and down a flight of stairs. He walked up the corridor to the last room at the end of the hallway. (Y/n) knocked (harder than he meant to) on the door, slight anger and impatience building up in him.

"Who is it?" Mineta called through the door.

"Mineta you little creep open the door." (Y/n) wasn't at all nice about it. He had no proof Mineta had taken it, but he felt the need to start somewhere other than his friends.

Mineta opened the door, slight unease shown on his face.

"What do you need..?" Mineta asked nervously.

"Something of mine was stolen during lunch, and I'm checking everyone's rooms to see if anyone has it." (Y/n) stated. It wasn't a total lie...

"Dude, I was sitting at the table next to you!" Mineta exclaimed, slightly offended.

"Sorry, I was just checking," (Y/n) foretold, "Anyway, see you later."

(Y/n) walked away, guilt seeming to try and pull him back as he made his way to the girl's dorm. He walked across the lounge and up a flight of stairs as he made his way to Mina's room.

When he arrived, he knocked, much more gently than he had done with Mineta. He heard light footsteps and giggling before the door was opened. He was met with a grinning Mina and he looked behind to see Uraraka. Then he smelt it.

Salt, iron, blood. Then he noticed what was in Uraraka's hand, a neatly folded sheet of paper, and next to her-an eerie-black envelope with a blood-red seal.

(Y/n) looked back at Mina, frowning. He wasn't sure how to feel. Upset? Betrayed? Mina and Uraraka had stolen from him. One of the people he was closest with had taken one of his personal items.

"Why..." (Y/n) couldn't even begin to ask why they had taken it. He was angry, but, he felt betrail overall. "Give it back."

(Y/n) turned to Uraraka, glaring at her. Uraraka quickly put the letter back, sealing it. She got up and handed it to (Y/n). He just glared at the two and left.

"(Y/n), wait a second! I can explain..." Mina trailed off, going after him.

"Not right now, maybe some other time. I'm going to bed anyway." (Y/n) shut her down, breaking the painful eye contact. "See you tomorrow, Ashido."

Poison dripped from his words as he walked away. (Y/n) didn't look back. Mina frowned. He hadn't called her by her last name once since they had met. She suddenly felt guilt wash over her, realizing that even if she had good intentions, she still wronged him greatly.

The next morning before, Mina and Uraraka managed to catch (Y/n) in the hallway. He wasn't in such a foul mood as the night before, all his anger had faded— he was just upset, he had saddened at the fact that his friend had betrayed him. Mina and Uraraka noticed the sad look in his eyes, even if everything else in his appearance said otherwise. Eyes are the key to the soul after all.

"(Y/n)-"

"Before you start, Uraraka, I could care less if you had something to do with this. It wasn't like we were exactly friends in the first place..." (Y/n) deadpanned, gazing at Uraraka with slightly sad, but otherwise emotionless eyes. His gaze basically told her that he wanted to talk to Mina, but she didn't quite get the hint. "You don't have to apologize. You'll be late to class."

Uraraka gave Mina a sheepish, weak smile as she slowly walked away from the two, catching up to Iida and Deku down the hall. Mina looked back at her, almost glad that she wasn't here. Mina didn't think (Y/n) would do anything to her, but All Might told him to control himself against Jiiro, and (Y/n) totally destroyed her. He was a beast.

"So..." Mina began. "I know sorry isn't enough, but... I don't know where else to start."

"Why did you take it..? I don't understand why you felt the need to take it from my room,"

"You were so happy a few days ago, and then you seemed so out of it. You looked confused, tired, maybe even upset and... I wanted to know why." Mina answered.

"You could have asked." (Y/n) mumbled. "I know you had good intentions, but, I'm not sure if I can trust you anymore."

"I can tell, it's the way you look at me, the way you looked at the guys when they passed us." Mina's eyes watered. "I know this is all new to you. He saw we were getting along, so Mr. Aizawa pulled me and Bakugou to the side and told us about your life before U.A."

"Listen-"

"I know you don't haven't experience with this kind of thing. I know that we're your first friends. I know that I probably ruined your trust in all of us... I know..." Mina's voice cracked.

She started to break down, glimmering, salty tears starting to roll down her pink cheeks. Her lip quivered, and she averted her eyes from (Y/n) not wanting to look him in the eyes. (Y/n) frowned at the sight of his friend's tears.

He wasn't sure what to do. He hadn't shed a tear in years, and he'd actually been present while watching anyone other than Deku cry. But, suddenly (Y/n) remembered something that Midnight had taught him a while ago...

Midnight wrapped her arms around me, pulling me closer to her. I did not pull away, but... I didn't know what to do. Was I supposed to do it back? That question was answered quickly as she moved my arms to wrap around her body as well.

"This is called a hug, (Y/n)." Midnight told him. "You give these to people you care about. It doesn't matter how they're feeling, hugs make everyone's days. It'll make people feel better, okay?"

"Okay... Will it help Aizawa? He seems grumpy..." (Y/n) commented innocently.

"Yes, even if only a bit, a hug will make even Aizawa feel better."

(Y/n) tried to let go of all his negative feelings and took a step closer to her. Mina was frightened, but then she felt warmth. (Y/n) wrapped his still thin arms around her, resting his head on her shoulder. Mina was confused for a moment but quickly returned the gesture.

(Y/n) couldn't do it, he couldn't let go of all his pessimistic feelings, and so, he began to cry as well.

"I know you meant well, I was overreacting..." (Y/n) mumbled.

"It's okay, I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry..." Mina cried, hiccuping between her words.

"I'm... sorry too..." (Y/n) murmured.

Mina sighed happily and let go of (Y/n). She wiped her tears and grinned, giggling a bit.

"We are such crybabies!" she giggled.

"I know, right? We're no better than Deku." (Y/n) chuckled as well, giving a small smile. "We're also late to class..."

"Yeah, let's go."

The two giggled and chuckled as they walked down the hall, then opened the door to the class. Aizawa frowned at them being late, totally ignoring their tear-stained faces and idiotic grins.

Halfway through the lesson, Mina received a note. It was unlike U.A. kids to pass notes, but she thought nothing of it. She unfolded the note, and read in messy handwriting, "I still trust you, Mina."

(Whoop whoop! I got a chapter out! I rewrote this thing like four times! Anyway, the regular schedule is still off, sorry! I'm not settled all the way in and such, I also am starting back to my after-school activities. I'll try to get in order ASAP, but no immediate promises. That's about it, I guess. Oh, wait, there won't be an "Extra" section at the end of this chapter because I'm tired, so sorry about that. I'll try to put one in the next part... See you guys later!)

(This Was 1568 Words!)
