1.4 ϟ Lucy Diggory

If Remilda were to tell anyone that she wasn't nervous she would have been lying to their face. Once they crossed the threshold and were on Platform 9 and ¾'s, it really sunk in that Remilda and Raelyn were about to go to a new school. While all of their friends were getting ready to start at Ilvermorny, they were going into a new school; it felt like they were getting ready to walk into a dark jungle they knew nothing about. Anything could be in there and they wouldn't know.

"Stay close kids," Molly ordered towards her pack of ginger headed children. "come on, move along-- Ronald stay in the group!"

However despite her barking orders, Fred and George would drift out of the group and talk with some of their friends. But then their mother's voice would rope them back in.

"Thanks for not yelling at us like that," Raelyn muttered towards their father.

He smiled, "I remember my mum used to lose her voice once James and I got to be your age, Sirius wasn't much help either." he chuckled at the memory, and Harry who was on the other side of Raelyn smirked as well. "But please, try to stay out of trouble." he added looking at Remilda but then his eyes sticking on Raelyn.

Raelyn nodded.

"Harry," he began, "you too." he said, putting a hand on Harry's shoulder. "Don't give the Dursleys a reason to keel over this year..."

A smile spread across his face as the scarlet train engine rolled into the station.

Remilda gazed at the train as it rolled in, its bright red color was a crisp shade. And the golden writing popped out at her; Hogwarts Express. The first car had a chimney that had black smoke billowing out as it came to a stop. During their late night story times, Remilda could remember this train in a few pictures. Pictures that her father had said his mum made him and James smile for on their way off to school on their first trip on the train and their last. She could see it in her head now, she could just picture the moving image of the black smoke billowing, and James (a few inches shorter) and her father smiling at the camera and then turning to mutter a few things to one another...

"Remilda?" her father said putting a hand on her shoulder, "You hear me?"

"Sorry, what?" she replied.

He chuckled, "I said, be sure you write to me as soon as you can." he smiled, "And make sure Raelyn does too."

Remilda nodded quickly, "Yeah, of course. I always do," she smiled.

He smiled, and then let his eye glance at each of them. Remilda, Raelyn, and then Harry too. "Harry, if you'd like...uh, you could write too. But I'd understand if you didn't want to though."

Harry looked a bit taken aback by the question. But then he quickly nodded as a smile spread across his face. And Jacob let out a small sigh along with a smile and nod.

"Good, good," he paused, "we have a lot of catching up to do."

Harry nodded in agreement as students began to get in line to board the train. Remilda watched eagerly as students began to pile on, there were students already in their uniforms, all ready for the first day. There were first years who were still saying goodbye; some of which didn't have a choice, their parents were clinging to them and saying goodbye over and over again.

"Bye, Dad," Raelyn sighed heavily as she hugged him goodbye.

"Bye, I love you,"

"Love you too," she replied as she took a step back so Remilda could say goodbye so they could go get on the train.

"I know you aren't so excited about all this..." her father confessed as they hugged one another, "I know the timing and circumstances couldn't be worse..." he added, "but I'm glad you're going into this with your head up."

Remilda offered him a small smile, "It's sorta exciting actually..." she paused, "sure the circumstances aren't great, but..." she shrugged, "Raelyn will make sure I at least try to enjoy myself."

He smiled, "I'll see you at Christmas," he reminded her, "I love you."

"Love you too," she said as she took a step back with Raelyn, "bye, Dad."

He smiled and waved goodbye as the two of them turned to walk away along with Harry. "Bye, Harry!" he called after them.

Harry turned and offered up a smile and a wave and then turned back around, "Come on, we can probably still get a compartment and save a few seats for Ron and Hermione too." he said.

With that, Harry led them through the growing crowd of students. Harry clearly knew what he was doing, because he weaved in between the other students until they were at the front. However, the whole time, Remilda couldn't help be notice how kids didn't even fight them cutting in the line. In fact, most of them averted their eyes from Harry.

"--bet he killed him so he wouldn't have to share the prize." a girls voice came up from behind them as they passed. Remilda attempted to see who had said it, but there were too many people, and Raelyn had a tight grip on her hand as they made their way onto the train.

The three of them finally found a compartment that was still empty so they quickly claimed it before anyone else had a chance to. Harry sat down beside Raelyn, and Remilda sat across from them. As soon as she was seated, she slumped back against the seat and let out a sigh of relief. She knew she had to try to enjoy herself, so she was relieved that she was on her way instead of sitting at home letting her mind dwell on everything.

"So...you take the train every year?" Raelyn asked.

Harry nodded, "How did you guys get to your school?"

"Train for the first few years then we started just apparating there with our parents." Rae replied casually, "I like this though." she smiled.

"I think you guys will love it," Harry assured them.

Just then, there was a rapid tap on the door before it slid open and Ron and Hermione filed into the compartment. Hermione took a seat next to Remilda and Ron sat on the other side of Harry.

"Are you guys glad to be going back?" Remilda asked, looking at Hermione, Ron, and Harry.

Hermione smiled and nodded.

"I haven't missed the classes," Ron shrugged, "but I'm glad to get out of the burrow."

"Burrow?" Raelyn echoed.

"It's what everyone calls our house," he replied simply, "my mum can be a bit...much sometimes."

Raelyn snickered.

"I think she's sweet," Remilda confessed.

"You don't have to live with her..." Ron replied, and chuckled when he saw a small smirk appear on her face.

"What about you Harry?" Hermione asked, "How've you been?" she asked, "We didn't write much this summer..."

"Yeah, I know we didn't," Harry retorted. His tone shocked Remilda for a moment, she hadn't heard his voice so sharp yet. After a moment of silence between everyone, as Remilda and Raelyn, as well as Ronald all shifted uneasily in their seats. "Sorry..." he muttered, "it's just, uh," he paused and then shrugged. "I'm glad to be going back to school though," he said quickly, changing the subject.

As the train rolled out of the station, their conversation continued with not a single dull moment. Remilda had to mainly for the most part just listen and occasionally add in as Raelyn went on and on about Ilvermorny and different stories. It was nice to have Raelyn in the same year as Remilda was. Raelyn was definitely the more charismatic one of the two, and Remilda wasn't one to lead a conversation really with a group of people. One or two people, maybe, but not a group. So when Raelyn was around, it was a nice safety net.

As that chatted, an old woman with a cart full of snacks went by at least twice. So after a few rounds past the compartment, Remilda dug into her bag and grabbed her wallet. She then pulled out some money and stood up.

"I'm going to go get something from that cart," she announced, "any of you want anything?"

"I'll come with," Ron said, "I want to get a few things too."

"Awesome." Remilda smiled as she opened the door and stepped out. Ron followed behind her.

The two of them made there way past other compartments, and squeezed past a few other students who were in the hall.

"Do you two still need to be sorted?" Ron asked.

Remilda nodded, "Yeah," she replied, as they stepped across into the next car. The woman with the snacks was towards the end of the car with a group around her. "Hogwarts just has a sorting hat, right?"

Ron nodded as they quickly made there way to the cart before she went on to the next car. However on their way, Ron got distracted by a girl sitting in a booth at the same table as Ginny and a boy, and another girl (both Remilda hadn't met yet).

"Hey, Lucy..." Ron said nicely, and a girl with olive toned skin, brown hair just a bit past her shoulders, and big brown eyes looked up at him. Taking her nose out of the book she was reading. "how was your summer?"

She stared at him, "Weasley, how do you think my summer went?" she retorted.

Ron's cheeks began to flush pink, "Uh, sorry. That came out wrong...I didn't mean-"

"I'm trying to catch up on this summer reading," she stated, "so keep going on your way, Weasley."

Ginny and the boy both looked at Lucy who was looking back at the book, and then back up at Remilda and Ron. Ginny offered them a small smile, and then they quickly went on their way.

"Who was that?" Remilda asked, "Why doesn't she like you?"

Ron glanced over his shoulder to make sure they weren't in earshot, "She doesn't like Harry, and he's my best mate." he shrugged, "But that's Lucy Diggory," he said quietly, "her older brother is the wizard who died last year during the tournament."

"Why doesn't she like Harry though?"

"Everyone thinks Harry killed him," Ron whispered, "to take the prize for himself."
