1.27 ϟ The Fallout
Before the D.A. meeting, Fred and George planted their gift for Filtch. The plan was easy-- wait for him to eat it and leave because of it, and then carry on with their meeting as usual. Remilda had tagged along with the twins, part of her wanted to make sure that whatever they were giving him didn't hurt him. The other part just wanted to see if it worked. Sure enough, it did. As soon as Filtch as the pink package, he looked around a bit as he untied the box and plopped one in his mouth. At first it did nothing, and the boys were very nervous that it hadn't worked. However, as soon as he began to chew the second one, boils began to appear on his hand that had touched the sweets, and his face as well. As soon as that happened, he closed the box and began to run to tell and show Umbridge. Then, the members of the D.A got the okay to go to the Room of Requirement.
"Raelyn, could you and Remilda set up the targets?" Harry asked as he and Lucy set up the table of cups that would keep themselves full of water.
"Sure," Remilda said simply.
Raelyn sighed heavily and nodded as she stepped away from the group of students that she was chatting with. "Sure thing."
The two of them made their way to the targets and began to work together to push one to begin a line of them. The whole time, Remilda watched Raelyn carefully-- every time Remilda would look at her, Raelyn's eyes would be cast downward. Or were intensely focused on where they were going.
"How've you been?" Remilda asked, "I haven't talked to you for awhile." she said, snickering a bit to lighten the mood and break the ice it seemed.
"I've been fine." she replied.
Remilda nodded a bit as they went to get another target, "Have you heard from dad?"
"You mean your uncle, right." she retorted quietly, her eyes shot up from the ground and were sending daggers right through Remilda.
How did she know that?
"What?" Remilda said simply, "What do you mean?"
Raelyn sighed heavily, "My dad, gave me a letter that explained everything. Stay with Remilda, no matter what. She needs you." she stated, "And since my dad could easily be dead, I figure I'll do it for him." she said, her tone was cold and it sounded like her words were drenched with venom.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Rae..."
"Don't play stupid, Remilda." Raelyn stated sharply, "How long did you know?" she asked, as the two of them stood behind the newly placed target to keep out of sight from the others.
"I...I just found out..." she said quietly, "I've probably known just as long as you."
Raelyn didn't seem to convinced, "So basically, my dad is missing because he had to keep a secret about you. And my mom is dead. Who knows if it was for the same reason-"
"They are my parents too, Raelyn." Remilda snapped back cutting her off.
Raelyn pressed her eyebrows together, "Your parents are dead, Remilda. My parents lost everything to make sure you were safe. Hell, dad brought us across the planet so you could go to a school where you'd be safe." Raelyn said coldly.
Remilda felt her eyes beginning to burn. A sea of tears began to form in her eyes. She suddenly felt a chill go down her back. Part of her knew it was true. Painfully true. Because of who she was, things went downhill as soon as Voldemort returned. She quickly turned away from Raelyn and walked away. All of that seemed so...possible.
She snatched up her bag and hurried toward the door of the room of requirement.
"Remmy?" George called after her, but she offered a small wave as she walked out as if to tell everyone to just let her be.
