Remember (Poem)

Remember her, who died for your love.
The girl who said she would always be there for you.
She protected you and your love in life and death.
With a smile she watches you both, knowing her deed has been done.
She never got the chance to live her life the way she wanted, but she knows that it was worth the sacrifice.
She is glad that she went down saving what mattered to her the most — you.
In life and in death, she will still hold your hand, smiling at you like she always did...
...and will guide you to what you always wanted in life.

Remember her, I always will.
She died protecting me and him.
I still visit her every day, in her own backyard.
I give her her favourite flowers. The pink ones. She loves those.
Her kitten visits too. Once she slept on her grave all night. I think she cuddled with her in her dreams.
Just like they always did when she was alive. Even death can't separate such a strong bond.
She loves her as much as we miss her. We will always remember.
Never forget the person who gave her life to let me truly live mine.

And never forgive the soulless person who ripped this gentle girl away from us forever.
I loved her as much as anyone. She was always there for me. Always by my side.
Only a monster would take such an innocent soul away from us.
I remember her sweet smile, right up to her final moments. Her rosy cheeks and soft touch...
...before her little hand, stained with her own blood, went limp in my desperate grasp.
And the sparkling eyes that had looked so admiringly up at me for so long closed for one final time.
My hopes that she would survive to come home and see her parents again shattered at that moment.
After she died, I ended her in vengeance. Right under the cherry tree where she died.
My love helped me stage the whole thing.
It started to rain, and tears ran down my face. But I was smiling. I had avenged her.
I put the clothes I wore, blood stains and all, in a box under my bed, to remind me of our victory, despite her loss.
"We still won," I told her.
"You were noble. You fought well. But now is your time to rest."
I saw her in my dream that night. She told me...

"Thank you."
"You avenged me and my unfair death."
"Because of you and her, I am free."
"I will not suffer being stuck inside my death place like the other innocent souls trapped inside our school."
"I may never see you again, but if I don't, I want to tell you something."
"Even if I never got the chance to catch my dreams, no matter how fast I ran..."
"...I hope you will continue to chase them for me, and maybe one day you will complete them like I should have."
"Before she ripped that chance away from me."
"I wish you luck. Please continue to visit me."
"You may not see me, but I see you there."
"Seeing that you will always care comforts me in my afterlife."
"Despite the emotional pain I suffer being away from my loved ones."
"I love you, I always will. Protect her for me, okay?"
"Goodbye."

She turned and walked away from me towards the realm of the spirits.
Her cute smile and admiring eyes, gone forever.
I cried as she left. She turned around, and gave me a cloth to wipe away my tears.
I put it in my pocket and embraced her in my arms for one final time.
She hugged me back, and I cried on her shoulder.
Her transparent figure was blown away, and turned into cherry blossom petals.
I found myself beneath the cherry tree, hugging the air.
I watched the petals blow away, and I burst into tears again.
When I woke up, the cloth she had given me was still in my hands.
My tears had dampened my pillow.
Her kitten was curled up by my side, purring in her sleep.
I closed my eyes, still crying, and hugged the little white cloth to my heart as I fell asleep again.
