Part 3 - Remember To Forget
He ran into the middle of a deep forest and started slowing down. He stopped in what he thought was the centre of the thick forest and fell to the floor. He wrapped his arms around his head and kneeled down, with his head on the red leaf covered floor, silently crying. He looked up at the star filled sky, through the gap in the canopy of leaves, wondering why life was so cruel. He pulled his black beanie over his eyes as he breathed out a warm puff of vapour into the cold air surrounding him. "Why...WHY?!" Dell shouted, "WHY DID THIS NEED TO HAPPEN TO ME?! WHY COULDN'T IT HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE?! WHY IS LIFE SUCH AN ASSHOLE?!" He continued sobbing with his head to the leaf floor and his hands over his head, pulling it to the ground, filled with rage and his teeth grinding together. He stopped gripping his head with his hands and flopped over, flat on the floor facing towards the stars. He sighed and sat up, eyes closed shut from all the sad memories haunting his head with small droplets of salty water dripping down onto the leaf floor. He sat there and thought. He thought like he did at school under the willow tree when his sister wasn't around. He thought like he did in his room after his dad left the world. He thought about all those haunting memories and shut his eyes tight. "JUST GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" he screamed, gripping his head again as hard as he could, "THIS ISN'T REAL! THE MEMORIES AREN'T REAL!" Dell's head was filled with thoughts and emotions that he couldn't handle. He wrapped his arms around his legs and rocked a little before getting a cold feeling running down his spine and a weird sound in his ears. The soft, sweet mumbling got louder, making the noises come together to form something like a song. "Reality is hard to understand," said a strange, distorted, feminine voice, "But you'll get use to it some day." Dell felt something like a cold hand on his left shoulder, so he looked around. Nothing was there. All he saw was some strange marking carved on the closest tree behind him that looked like Japanese writing, Writing that spelled out クロム that wasn't there before, and a modified black half gas mask with a small gas cylinder on the back and the same strange symbols painted on the side in what looked like white paint. He also noticed a small piece of old paper underneath the gas mask as he picked it up off the red leaf floor. The piece of paper read 'This will cure all your problems. - Cr 24' with the symbol on the back of the paper. The words were written in some sort of dried dark red paint, which worried Dell as he read the message. He dropped the note on the floor and looked at his other hand with the strange gas mask in it, curiously. "It said it cures my problems..." wondered Dell as he wiped the tears from his eyes, "... so that must mean it cures c-cancer? And maybe even could m-make me forget about everything bad that happened. At least, I t-think so? Oh well, worth a s-shot." He raises the mask to his face and places it over his mouth and nose. He secures it to his head thoroughly. "It doesn't seam to do anyth-." Dell dropped to the floor before he could finish his sentence and then slowly closed his eyes and blacked out. The last thing he saw before he fainted was a hallucination of his dead family towering over him then cut out by black and the same Japanese symbols as before in white.
