Three Words, Eight Letters
The door was locked, faint scratches adorning the dark wood.
She frowned, rocking back onto her heels as she tucked her flashlight beneath her arm. An impatient shifting of feet a yard or so behind her told her that the boy had moved closer to her, clutching at the hems of her shirt.
"Do we really hafta go in there, Mom?" He asked softly, pressing his face into the cloth. She smiled reassuringly, running her fingers through his mop of dark hair. He shook his head, arms wrapped around her waist. "I'm scared.."
"Everything will be alright, Hiro," she whispered, freeing herself from the tight embrace her son encased her in. Tiny, almost unnoticeable tears shone in his blue eyes, and she knelt in front of the frightened child, wiping them away. "Mom is here for you; I won't leave you alone. I promise."
He sniffled. "But Mom--"
Eren nee Hanazono Aoi quickly pressed a brief kiss to her two-year-old son's forehead, pulling him into a quick hug. "There's something I need to get from here, my little hero. You didn't have to accompany Mom."
He shook his head stubbornly, clutching at his mother's hands. "I promised Dad I'll protect you, Mom!" He said, to which she smiled, tears in her eyes.
"I know you did, Hiro." With that, she stood up, carefully placing a hand over her abdomen, as though to reassure herself that the child she was currently carrying within was safe.
That her unborn daughter was still safe and sound.
Hiro nodded, his wide grin showcasing his baby teeth. A small laugh escaped her lips, and she turned towards the locked door, opening it with the key she held within her left hand.
It swung open with a whine which scared the little boy, and she held his hand tight, proceeding into the room. It should still be here, she thought, scanning the dimly lit room for the accursed book.
The Death Note contains all of the death words for each person in the world, and as soon as it is spoken aloud in front of the person it targets, they will immediately die.
She hadn't believed in the stupid rumor.
Look where that got her now.
-To be continued.
Pretty meh-ish writing, to be honest, but that's the general idea. I might not continue this, though..
What do you guys think?
Peace out,
Zoe
