All of the Stars | Song-Fic
[Date written: May 8th, 2016.]
It's just another night,
And I'm staring at the moon.
I saw a shooting star,
And thought of you.
I sang a lullaby,
By the waterside and knew:
If you were here,
I'd sing to you.
"You're an idiot, Levi," he laughed, running his fingertips over the rough, gritty surface of the stone before he let it fly through the air, skipping across the eerie stillness of the lake. On the other end of the line, a low, male voice chuckled. "Ya didn't hafta go to all that trouble."
If he was here, Ciel Michaels knew, he would have rolled his eyes.
"You know me, L. I'd go through all the trouble of standing in line just to get the meet and greet passes."
Ciel laughed, taking a seat by the water's edge, the toe of his high-top sneakers barely grazing the murky water. "Damn, you're lucky you'd get to meet the author. Wish I could."
"I'd get two signed copies for both of us if I could."
He grew quiet, then he said lowly: "Hey, could you sing for me, Ciel?"
The brunette looked up at the sky, barely visible through the canopy of leaves rustling in the wind. A small, bright streak shot through the dark expanse at that moment, and he smiled.
"Alright. Don't judge my singing voice, Levi."
The boy laughed. "You know I love you all the same."
He flushed, scarlet coloring his cheeks. "Yeah, yeah. Love you too."
You're on the other side,
As the skyline splits in two;
I'm miles away from seeing you.
But I can see the stars,
From America.
I wonder, do you see them, too?
"I have my mother's dreams,
I have my father's eyes;
You can't take that from me--
Just go ahead and try." He sang softly, holding the phone close to his ear.
Levi hummed along, and - if he closed his eyes - he could imagine him sitting beside an open window, watching the rain pour from the heavens. Ciel smiled softly.
"It's raining there, isn't it." He commented, as the boy chuckled.
"It was, earlier. I can see the stars now." He paused, "Do you see them too?"
"Yeah."
So open your eyes and see:
The way our horizons meet.
And all of the lights will lead,
Into the night with me,
And I know these scars will bleed,
But both of our hearts believe:
All of these stars will guide us home.
"Say, do you still remember that time when I found you?"
Levi stifled a wince. "I'd rather not talk about that."
A wry smirk curled the brunette's lips at the response. "Yeah, you were suicidal, but we changed that."
"You changed that. Changed me."
"Shut up. You're still the same stuck-up prick, Specter." Ciel replied, to the evident disgust in the boy's voice.
"You know I never liked that nickname." Levi muttered.
"So you'd like it if I called you 'Everhart' again?"
"No. My first name will do fine, L. Seriously." He mumbled, "Being my boyfriend has its perks, wouldn't you say, Ciel?"
The brunette blushed, his thumb hovering over the 'End Call' option. "You already know the answer to that."
He laughed. "I know. I was just teasing you, Ciel.
"I love you."
He smiled.
"I love you too."
-End.
So I know I'm spoiling you guys with this little oneshot based on my characters for this short story I have: The World Beyond My Mind, which I'll be posting in my other account. Oh, and it's a boy x boy, as mentioned with the relationship between two of the characters, Ciel Michaels and Levi Everhart.
Writing Prompt from AngelicShadows, also known as Arctic_Sky.
Peace out,
