It's A Dedication
Marlena let out a sigh as she finished zipping up her final duffle bag. She sat down on the queen-sized mattress she had grown accustomed to over the last three months and gazed around the bedroom she had come to call her own for the last time. Today she was leaving Clint's, and although she was more than thrilled to actually head back home to Washington to see her brother and Greyson, she was going to miss her time spent at the Barton Homestead. The Barton family had taken her in without hesitation; they had made her feel at home, and because of that she was grateful. She was even grateful for Cooper and Lila, despite the fact that they were never ones to pass up the opportunity to humiliate her or Wanda.
Marlena ran a hand through her short hair and stood up, grabbing two of her five bags. For some reason she now had more clothes than she did when she first arrived at Clint's, and she blamed that solely on the amount of flannels she had stolen from Clint, as well as the amount of flannels he had bought her for her birthday.
Before she could make it to her bedroom door, it swung open to reveal Clint. He gave her a small smile before moving to grab the last three bags that sat in the bedroom floor. He pulled them over his shoulder with ease and made a move to head out of the room, gesturing Marlena to follow after him.
"Y'know, I'm really gonna miss you and your freaky little sister," Clint chuckled as the two of them made their way down the staircase.
Marlena smiled softly, slight sadness seeping into her body as the fact of her leaving settled within her. "We're gonna miss you, too, Clint. Thank you for taking care of us for the past three months."
Clint shrugged and kicked open the screen door. "Well, it was the least I could do."
The two of them headed over to Clint's SUV, where Wanda was currently attempting to stuff her bags in the back. Bucky assisted her, though he remained absolutely silent, despite the fact Wanda had tried speaking to him three times. He was still increasingly angry with her and Marlena, so much that he hadn't spoken to either of them since the incident had happened two days prior. His lack of verbal communication with them bothered the two of them greatly, but they knew they had brought it on themselves.
"Why the hell do you two have so many bags?" Clint questioned as he threw Marlena's on top of Wanda's the moment she moved away.
"Because they hold everything that's wrong with our poor, disastrous, and pathetic lives," Wanda muttered to herself, though Clint, Bucky, and Marlena had heard her perfectly.
Marlena made a face at the sound of her words and threw her bags in the back. "That certainly is a depressing statement."
"You're such a downer, Wanda," Clint said as he closed the trunk.
Wanda shrugged, while Bucky gave a sarcastic chuckle before moving to get in the car. Marlena rolled her eyes at him and looked at Clint.
"He's still mad at you two?" Clint asked.
Marlena shrugged. "Yeah, but at the moment he's just being an immature little shit."
"I can hear you," Bucky called from his spot inside the car; the door was still open, as it was particularly hot outside and even hotter inside the car.
"Good for you, asshole," Marlena responded.
"Watch your mouth, Claire," a voice sounded from behind Marlena.
She spun around, coming face to face with Levi who was currently making his way towards them. Marlena's eyes brightened as she looked at him, and a smile fell upon Levi's face as he watched them do so. Marlena ran over to him, her excitement dictating her actions. She practically jumped onto him, wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist.
Bucky watched Marlena's exchange with Levi from the car with an annoyed expression on his face. He was still mad at Marlena, but that didn't effect the way he felt about her at all. He was still the same overprotective fiancé he had always been, and watching her with Levi made him feel uneasy, despite the fact Levi was not at all straight. To Bucky, Levi was just another male—a male he didn't want to lose his Marlena to.
"I thought you went to the lakehouse with the rest of the family," Marlena mused as she hopped back down to the ground.
Levi scoffed and gave her a gentle push back towards the car. "You didn't think I'd let you leave without saying goodbye, did you? What kind of best friend would I be if I did?"
"I dunno, but I'm glad you came," Marlena smiled.
"Yeah, so are a lot of my previous boyfriends," Levi stated, earning a look from Marlena.
"Ew."
"Levi," Wanda exclaimed happily as the two approached the vehicle.
"Wanda," Levi replied equally as happy, moving to wrap her in a tight hug.
"You guys have two minutes or I'm leaving without you," Clint said as he moved towards the driver's side of the car.
Marlena shook her head at him and looked at Levi, a grin pulling onto her face. "I'm really gonna miss you, Levi."
"As am I," Wanda followed.
Levi smiled at the two of them and leaned against the back of the car. "I'm gonna miss you guys, too, but don't worry. I have a plan to head up to Washington within the next few months or so. I'm looking forward to meeting your people."
"There's not very many of them left," Marlena sighed, crossing her arms over her chest. "There's just my brother and my stepdad."
"How old is your brother?" Levi smirked.
Wanda was quick to step in before Marlena could say anything. "He's fourteen and not for you."
"Damn."
Before the three of them could say anything else, Clint started the car, alerting the two girls that it was time for them to go.
"Guess it's that time," Marlena chimed as she pulled Levi in for another hug, before letting him move on to Wanda.
"I'm gonna miss you both," Levi told the two of them. "But before you go I must say my goodbyes to your hot ass fiancé."
Wanda's eyes widened and she looked at Marlena, whose palm was now pressed to her face. With everything going on, Marlena still had yet to tell everyone about her and Bucky's spontaneous engagement, especially Wanda. Now, because of Levi, she didn't need to worry about telling her as he had already done it for her.
"Fiancé?" Wanda exclaimed.
Marlena simply ran around the side of the car and pulled the door open, hopping over Bucky and into the seat beside him. Wanda and Levi appeared at the door seconds later, Levi with a smirk on his face and Wanda with a scowl on hers. Bucky looked at the two of them with furrowed brows, unaware of why they were looking at him the way they were.
"Hello, James," Levi greeted him.
Bucky scoffed and shook his head. "Oh my gosh."
"What's the matter, Mr. Fiancé?" Wanda questioned him, managing to actually earn a small laugh from him.
"Ignore her," Levi instructed him as Wanda hopped into the passenger's seat. "I've come to bid my goodbyes to you and tell you that if you ever get tired of Marlena and want something exciting in your life, I will be here waiting for you, you beautiful piece of human."
Bucky glanced over at Marlena before looking back at Levi. "I'm good, thanks."
Levi shrugged. "It was worth a try. I love you, Marlena; I love you, Wanda; screw you, Clint; I'd like to screw you, Bucky. Goodbye now."
"I can't believe I'm related to him," Clint muttered as Levi shut the door, and in seconds he was taking off down the gravel road.
"He sure gets his honesty factor from you," Wanda stated as she moved her seat back to give herself more leg room, which in turn only gave Bucky less leg room.
Bucky let out a sigh and tried to make himself more comfortable, though nothing seemed to work out for him. "Can you move your seat up, Wanda?"
"Oh, you're speaking to me now?" Wanda spoke, craning her head around the seat to look at Bucky.
"I just want you to move your seat up."
Wanda smirked and turned back around in her seat. "No."
Bucky rolled his eyes, and just as he did three months ago in Germany, he pulled Marlena onto his lap and shifted himself into her spot before sitting her back down in his. She shot him a look, to which he only responded by giving a small smile.
Marlena just grabbed her blanket from the back and wrapped it around her small body. Before she could even think about laying her head against the window, she was being pulled into a strong pair of arms. She looked up at Bucky, a questioning look on her face.
"I take it you're not mad anymore?"
"I am, but the thought of you going to sleep somewhere other than in my arms kills me inside. It makes me hate myself for being such a dick the past two days," Bucky replied as he held her tighter.
"How do you think I felt?"
"Let's not go there, because I have a pretty good feeling about how you did."
Marlena shook her head and smiled, nestling herself into his side and pulling her legs onto the seat.
"You both disgust me," Wanda remarked as she lowered the back of her seat.
"All three of you disgust me; how 'bout that?" Clint added.
Marlena chuckled. "I love you, too, Clint."
__________
The trip back to Washington D.C. took roughly five hours. The moment Clint pulled up outside of Greyson's house, Marlena hopped out of the car and made her way to the back of the vehicle, waiting patiently for Clint to open up the trunk. Bucky got out of the car the moment he did so, moving to grab Marlena's bags before she could even think of doing so. Clint did the same with Wanda's, and the two girls were left to carry only one of their bags each.
Wanda and Marlena ran in front of the two men and to the front door, excitedly throwing it open and startling the man sitting on the couch in the living room. Greyson turned his head to see both Wanda and Marlena happily making their way into the living room and his eyes lit up. He stood up immediately, moving to pull the two of them into a tight hug.
"Oh my gosh, what the hell are you two kids doing here?" he exclaimed happily as he squeezed them tighter in his arms.
The two of them dropped their bags so they could hug him back, their bodies overflowing with happiness and love at the feeling of finally being back home.
"Tony let us come back home," Marlena mumbled into his shirt, happy tears burning in her hazel eyes.
"We've missed you so much," Wanda followed shortly.
Greyson smiled and squeezed them tighter, though before he had the chance to say anything else, the front door opened yet again, revealing a very disgruntled Bucky and Clint.
"Thanks for closing the door on us," Bucky grumbled. "It's not like we have a shit ton of bags in our hands or anything."
"Bucky fuckin' Barnes!" Greyson exclaimed loudly and excitedly, ripping himself away from the girls and running over to Bucky, engulfing him in a very tight—yet surprising—hug. It had been months since he had last seen or talked to Bucky, and although his situation with Marlena and Wanda was much the same, he had talked to them on the phone every once and a while.
Bucky's eyes widened in surprise, though a soft chuckle escaped him. He released his hold on Marlena's bags in order to hug Greyson back, and Greyson's hold only tightened. Marlena and Wanda exchanged glances with one another before looking back at Greyson and Bucky.
"Even after all this time he's still so obsessed with Bucky," Wanda mused, bending down to pick her lone bag off the floor.
"It's not an obsession, it's a dedication!" Greyson retorted as he finally pulled away from Bucky, earning an eye roll from Marlena.
"Or maybe you're just gay for Bucky," Wanda chuckled. "It's okay, I know someone else who is too."
Greyson shot her a look. "I'm not gay for Bucky. . .that much. And who?"
Bucky shook his head and grabbed the bags off the floor, hurrying up the stairs with them, Clint on his tail.
"My friend Levi," Marlena answered him.
"And sometimes Steve," Wanda added, eliciting a snort from Marlena.
Greyson scoffed and sat down on the couch, propping his feet up on the table. "Too bad he's taken."
"Yeah, by me, so watch yourself," Marlena smirked, moving towards the stairs, only to stop when Bucky appeared at the top.
"Where's Mason at?" Bucky asked Greyson. "I stopped at his room to see him, but he wasn't there."
Greyson smirked and flipped through the channels on the TV. "He's either at football practice or hanging out with his little girlfriend."
Marlena's eyes widened. "Girlfriend? What girlfriend? He's almost fifteen—he doesn't have a girlfriend."
"Definitely doesn't look like a fourteen year old anymore," Greyson laughed. "He's been working out every single day since you left in order to get ready for the team, and I'm pretty sure he's going through his fastest stage of puberty. I don't know what kind of growth hormone shit they're putting in the foods nowadays, but damn is it turning fourteen year olds into eighteen year olds."
Marlena frowned, now upset that she had missed so much more than she originally thought she had. "Well then."
"You're also the smallest in the family now, little bean," Greyson told her. "Which means everyone in the house is now gonna gang up on you and throw you in the pool."
Marlena cocked a brow. "When did you get a pool?"
"Never knew just how vague our phone conversations have been until now."
"The pool idea is a good one, especially since she hates the water," Bucky mused.
"Isn't it?" Greyson laughed.
Marlena shot them both a look. "I can overpower both of you; just remember that," she warned them as she took off up the stairs passed Bucky.
"She hasn't changed much," Greyson stated.
Bucky chuckled and shook his head. "Not at all."
