A Family that Stays together

The house was filled with chatter, it was rare that they managed to have a full family dinner.

He smiled down at Solas who was helping him prepare the last bits of dinner, and Kioku who was the elder god for memory, hummed as he helped, his silver eyelights were deep in thought, and the silver markings on his body were idly glowing.

"Mom, Tamashi can't seem to stop dating." Kioku said in disgust for their twin, for the God of Soul seemed to fall in love with every pretty face that he saw... Thankfully, the relationships hadn't gotten too far as Umbra doubted that any of them were good enough.. for anyone really.

"Sweetie, you're only a hundred years old. I'm surprised that you aren't dating." Umbra replied. "No thanks!" was the reply.

Since the twins's birth, they'd had no more pregnancies, both of them were being careful as they needed the break, and thankfully, Fate didn't... help it along.

"Shades." Ser said, stealing a kiss.

"Ser." He happily said.

The break was needed for emotional reasons too, because while he was forced to be Umbra, and think of himself as Umbra, most of the time.. he'd needed time to center himself and remember the core of himself, which was Shades. Shades, which in the other timeline, he was an aspect of.

In some ways, the aspect versions of themselves would have been easier, even if half of what that version of himself did bewildered him.

He and Ser had figured out, a long time ago, how to peek at a timeline that was following the Fates original plan, and it made them scratch their heads at how... innocent their opposites were.

Their timelines were running almost blind, as the Fates kept on having to rewrite their plans, and both halves of Fear were still missing.

"Ohh... is that lemon loaf?" Ser said, reaching for a slice. "Ow!"

"That's for later, you big baby." Shades smirked, he'd barely tapped his Mate's hands. When Ser was here, he found it easier to be Shades again, it wasn't the healthiest option for him, but he was getting better.

"Wait... is that roasted pears?" Ser asked him, with a wide eyelight.

"No... stars darn it!" He cried, dropping an oven mitt.

"You only caught on now, Mama, Papa?" Solas asked them grinning.

"Kids! You're going to have baby siblings, again!" Searcher yelled.

Meanwhile, Shades was trying to figure out, how the pears got past him as he only ate or bakes/cooked, etc, pears, when he was pregnant.

Searcher hugged Shades. "I love you."

Shades hugged back, leaning his head against the side of his husband's neck. "I love you too, you big dork."

Searcher hummed as he started to cover Shades's face in kisses.

"Ser... dinner." Shades giggled.

Searcher giggled as he stopped. "Okay, let's have dinner first."

Shade reached up, and he held a hand over his Soul, he could check how many Soulings that he had, later, once their children went home.

"Let's get this served." He smiled at his mass of children, and bedlam followed him as the dishes made their way to the table.

Bedlam that Searcher clearly loved as he weaved his way around the kids, stopping them from crashing into each other.

Shades blinked, he was feeling a bit dizzy, he wondered how far along he was and he knew that he'd probably been over doing things lately.

This was proved right, as halfway through dinner, darkness claimed him.

"Shades!" Searcher screamed, as he caught his husband.

"Shades?" He whispered as he checked his husband's vitals.

"Mom..." Solas whimpered, unable to feel the waking mind of his opposite, and the rest of the children were panicking.

Searcher took a deep breath as he tried to think of someone that could help his husband... He really wanted his Aunt Life... But he didn't know when she appeared... There had to be a Healer that he trusted... But where could he find them?!

"Papa.. what do we do?" Sora asked, hugging Solas to his chest for comfort.

"I don't know..." Searcher whispered. "The one Goddess that I trust as a Healer hasn't been born... And unlike Shades, who's more familiar with the worlds outside the Reapertale, I don't know if any of the AUs can help us..."

"What about Medictale... Mama mentioned it last week." Solas quietly said.

"Medictale?"

"Yeah, an AU where monsters run hospitals and everything." Solas replied.

"They might be able to help us." Searcher gently picked Shades up. "Round up your siblings, and bring your overnight bags, we're going to Medictale."
