Chapter 18...
I woke up to air being blown against my neck and something hard poking my back. A single arm wrapped around my middle, the hand tucked under me to make sure I was pressed firmly into the warm body behind me.
It took me a split second to remember where I was and who I was with. Feeling Brock against me let me know I didn't dream last night up. Knowing that I didn't dream it all made my insides glow.
Last night was...incredible. Everything about it was great. I have never felt so beautiful, loved, wanted. Nothing was said between Brock and I yet it felt like we had a deep conversation. It was like the two of us had reconnected in the best way possible.
I had no clue what time it was but I knew I didn't want to get up. Closing my eyes I snuggled back into Brock once more. It was the first time in a long, long time since I felt so safe. Wrapped in his arms like this I felt like nothing could touch me.
Things were moving a little fast but Brock and I had history. Our history was kind of complicated but just being around him made me comfortable, felt right. In just a matter of two days I could feel myself once again falling for this man. It was crazy how fast we could fall back into one another.
Behind me I felt Brock shift and his arm tighten just a bit more. I smiled loving how tight he was holding me. A minute later I felt him place a kiss to the side of my neck.
"If that is how you will get me up I won't ever complain." I commented.
"Noted." Brock's voice was thick with sleep. I let him kiss my neck one more time before I wiggled in his hold trying to get his arm looser. When he let me go I turned around so I was now facing him, my upper half on top of his.
"Morning." I whispered.
"Good morning." The smile he flashed me warmed my entire room.
Our faces were inches away from one another. Without thinking I brought one of my hands up and softly traced his jaw. His blue eyes were hooded and watching me intently as I let my fingers wander. Seeing his face this close to mine I could see just how handsome he really was.
Brock did have the all american look but when you got this close you could see the little bit of flaws that made him even more handsome. His nose was slightly crooked from having been broken by a few baseballs. He had a few little scars on his face, some new to me. One of his eyebrows had a bald spot from an old scar he got when he was younger.
To me his little imperfections made him cuter. Moving my hand from his face I next stopped on the large scar on his right shoulder. I had noticed it before but was too busy to pay attention to it.
"Is this from your surgery?" The scar was pretty big but you could tell a good surgeon did it for it wasn't that thick looking.
"Yeah." With my index finger I softly traced it.
"It still hurts doesn't it." It wasn't really a question. I've seen him wince every now and then. When he didn't answer I looked at his face. "How did you hurt it?" I knew it wasn't uncommon for a pitcher to throw their arm out.
"It was the last game in the World Series." My eyebrows raised at that. I had actually watched that game. At first I wasn't going to but when everyone was buzzing about the team leading and the final game I ended up watching it with Lucas. It was an incredible game to watch and Brock did amazing.
"They brought me in at the 5th inning and I felt great. I was throwing pitch after pitch and I felt a pinch in my shoulder. I shrugged it off because we needed to win. Everyone was counting on me. I told the coach I was fine but I wasn't, i thought I could just keep going. It wasn't until after the game I realized I had torn a ligaent in it."
Inwardly I winced. That kind of pain had to be horrible to go through, and the surgery.
"When we found out I got one of the best doctors in LA to the surgery. I should be ready to play this season though."
"Did you go to physical therapy?"
"A lot of physical therapy and I was home bound for a long time. That is one of the reasons my manager, Vanessa, got me plane tickets to come home."
"You'll be fine to play though right?" I couldn't imagine Brock not playing baseball. It was something he was born to do.
"I should be fine. Practice doesn't start for another few weeks so I should be able to play." I caught a hint of worry in his voice. He was trying to act like he was fine with the idea of not playing but he wasn't.
"Enough serious talk." He switched the subject and a second later switched our position too. Now I was on my back and he hovered above me. "We have more important things to do." Sending me a wicked grin he lowered his head to my chest.
My laugh turned to a moan as we became lost in one another again.

Brock's Pov....
Smiling to myself I descended the stairs and headed for the kitchen. Haley was behind me getting dressed while I started on breakfast for us, well more like lunch. We ended up spending longer in the shower than we intended, not that I was complaining.
I could tell that I was already becoming addicted to everything that is Haley Gardner. I thought back in High School I couldn't love her anymore but boy was I wrong. Even though 6 years has passed between us it was almost like no time had really gone by. We fit each other so well it was like putting two matching puzzle pieces together.
Haley was everything I have ever wanted and have been searching for. I royally screwed up all those years ago and I haven't realized until recently that the little piece inside of me missing was from the first girl who stole my heart.
There had been a hole inside of me for so long I had forgotten it was there. The hole was from losing Haley, the only person I have truly ever loved. That is why it was hard for me to commit to any other girl or to take that huge step in commented.
Last night was incredible as was this morning. The two of us couldn't keep our hands off one another. It was like we were two horny teenagers all over again. Just coming down here to make us food made me miss her. I didn't want to let her out of my sight, almost afraid she would run off without me knowing.
I knew it was stupid of me to get invalided with Haley again when I had to leave in about two weeks. I had to go back to LA. I have a career, a life, friends there. But being around Haley made me forget about that. Made me feel less lonely and like I was finally home after all this time.
As I was heading to the kitchen a knock on the door made me pause in my step. I glanced back at the stairs wondering if Haley was expecting someone. Thinking it maybe Lucas and that he forgot his key I reached the door and opened it. What greeted me was not Lucas. Far from it.
"Pack your bags, we are leaving." My manager, Vanessa commanded, pushing her way into Haley's house.
"What are you doing here?" I stared at my manager wondering why the hell she was here. How did she even know where I was? Last she knew of I was staying at my parents house.
"I am here to bring you home."
"You could have called." I shut the door and turned to her.
"I have all morning but you didn't answer. Clearly you were busy." Vanessa looked at my bare chest and jeans with raised eyebrows.
"Why are you here Vanessa? I am not due to come home for another week and a half. Need I remind you it was your idea to send me here."
"If you had bothers to answer your phone you'd know why I am here." Sighing I sent her a look.
"I am not in the mood right now. Tell me why you are here."
"Well it seems you have enjoyed your visit home. Pictures are now flooding the interest of you with a girl this weekend. Pictures of the two of you close." She emphasized the 'close' part. I narrowed my eyes at her.
"What do you mean?"
"What I mean is you and your 'girlfriend' are splattered all over social media. You are currently trending on Twitter."
"WHAT?" The thought of Haley's face all over the internet did not sit well with me. "How the hell did they get a picture of us?" I hissed out not wanting Haley to hear us.
"Someone snapped a picture when you weren't looking."
"Why does it matter who I am with? It is none of their business." I clenched my jaw. I haven't had to deal much with things like this but when I did it pissed me off. It was my life not anyone else's.
"It matters because Brock you are a rising star! You just lead the Dodgers to their first World Series win in 50 years, you are only 25 and you were just put on the front cover of Sports Illustrated. I already have calls from people wanting you to do roles in shows and movies!"
" I don't care about that Vanessa. I care about Haley's face being splattered everywhere!"
"That's not all." My eyes went into slits at her words. What else could there be?! "Your ex, Sarah Fisher, is claiming she is pregnant."
Yep it got much worse.
