*Time Leap*

Peggy's POV

I stand beside Travis as several pack members come through the door. As they see me with Travis, they plaster on fake smiles and wish me a happy birhtday. But I could still see the hatred in their eyes. I just nod back at them. 

Glancing around at the guys, I start to wonder about who my mate will be, what he would look like, and if he would accept me for who I am or reject me. ANY MATE WHO REJECTS US WOULD BE CRAZY, a stong yet gentle voice tells me. Looking around wide eyed, I can't see anyone. Realizing that it was my wolf speaking, I smile. I hear her laughing. Some people are lucky. On their 16 birthday, hours before they shift, some can hear their wolf. But not many are able to do that. 

 THE NAME'S LEIGH, AND I'M GLAD TO FINALLY MEET YOU LITTLE ONE.

HEY LEIGH. I'M PEGGY. I whisper back, slightly wincing at how my voice sounds in my mind. But I can feel her smiling at me. I spend the next hour talking to her and getting to know her. Suddenly, I see Travis, Jim and WIll walking my way. "Time to open your gifts, Peg." Travis tells me as he hands me one. The gifts from the pack are cheap and stupid. But the ones that I recieve from my brothers are filled with love. 

Travis takes something out of his pocket and slides it into my hand. "Almost forgot. Here's one more." I look down and see a key. Puzzled, I look up at him and see he's smiling. I take the key and hit the unlock button. Hearing a chime from the garage, I walk through the door. Hiting the button again, I step around the hummer. There before me is the prettiest car I've ever seen. And it's mine. 

I almost broke down and cried right there. But I just smiled and hugged them hard. "Happy Birthday sweetheart." They all tell me as they hug me back. I watch as they leave to go mingle with the guest, leaving me to my thoughts. Noticing that I'm a little thirsty, I make my way to the house, wanting some lemonade.  About half-way down the hallway, a strong scent hits me. Pine mixed with orange swirls around me. Following the smell to the library, I slide the door open and step in. There, standing in front of the fireplace, stood the source of the smell. He was talking on his cell. 

The second his shoulders tensed, I knew he smelled me as well. He snapped his phone shut and turned around to face me. Leigh started howling. MATE! GO TO MATE! she begs me over and over. The man in front of me is none other than Job Urban, my brother's beta!

Job's POV

I was in the library, hiding out really, when I get a call from an old girlfriend. She wanted me to come and see her and I was about to agree when I heard the door slide open and the most inticing scent in the world hits me. Making an excuse and promising that I would drop by later, I snap my phone shut. Her smell gets stronger as she steps into the room. Sweet pea mixed with pine, lavender and vanilla fills the library. I turn and face the woman, um girl, in the door way. I'm shocked to see Peggy, Travis's little sister. I knew she was turing 16 tonight, and there would be a possibilty that she would find her mate, I just didn't expect it to be me and this soon. 

We stand there staring at each other as my wolf, Blaze, starts howling and jumping around. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR YOU IDIOT. GO TO HER. SHE'S OUR MATE!

SHE'S TO YOUNG BLAZE. SHE'S 16!

SO, he says, WE'LL WAIT FOR HER. I MEAN, WE"RE ONLY 20 FOR PETE'S SAKE!! I mumble a cuss word under my breath. "Let's just get this over with." I open my mouth and say. "I, Job Thomas Urban, hereby rejects you, Peggy Alexandra McBride, as my mate and beta female." At those words, I felt my heart break and Blaze goes nuts. He starts howling, cussing and shaking. 

I watch as her eyes get big. For a second I thought she was going to cry. She hasn't spoken since the death of her parents, and here I am rejecting her. HER BROTHERS ARE GOING TO KILL US!

MAYBE SHE'LL AGREE TO THE ONE MONTH TRAIL. BLaze suggests. That would be better than death, but who would want a mute mate, even if she was of alpha blood. She opens her mouth and blows me out of my socks so to speak. 

Peggy's POV

Here I was thinking that Job was one of the nicest, kindest men I had ever met besides my father and brothers. Then he rejects me. A mate hasn't been rejected in over 100 years. The last time a mate was rejected, it was King Dale rejecting his mate when he found her in bed with his beta. That I would understand. But this, he had no cause to reject me. I did nothing wrong. Leigh starts getting pissed, even though I could tell she was in pain at Job's words. 

I open my mouth. There's no way I'm spending a month trying to convince a man who doesn't want me, to give me another chance. No way buddy. Standing the full 5'11' of my small frame, I straighten my shoulders. "I, Peggy Alexandra McBride, hereby accept your rejection as your mate and beta female." I could tell that I surprised him, but I don't care. The second I uttered those words, a burning pain shoots through my chest. Job flinches. 

The burning sensation gets hotter and I can no longer hold it in. I scream, pressing a hand against my chest where my heart is. LEIGH, WHAT"S HAPPENING? I ask her confused. 

IT'S OKAY BABY GIRL. OUR MATE BOND TO JOB IS BEING REMOVED AND A NEW ONE FOR OUR NEW MATE IS BEING FORGED. THE PAIN WILL GO AWAY SOON, I PROMISE. She tries to sooth me, but the pain's to much. I scream again and fall forward, feeling my bones pop and break. I'm shifting for the first time. I look up and see Job standing in the bushes watching me. I hear him whisper, "Sorry."  A third time I scream. I can hear Travis running towards me. I look up to see Job running. I whisper, "Traitor," as Travis burts through the door, I shift. I throw my hands, um paws out to break my fall and noctice that they are golden. 

Job's POV

I can't believe she accepted my rejection. I wasn't expecting her to do that. I thought she would do the one month trial. When she accepted, I felt the bond start to burn, but I wouldn't let her see me in pain. I flinched as the pain grew hotter, but she screams, scaring the hell out of me. I want to stay with her, but I hear Travis coming. I rush outside and look back just in time to she her shift. In her place stands a tall golden wolf. And she's the most beautiful sight I've ever seen. I hang my head and mumble, "Sorry." As I take off and run, I hear her reply. "Tratior." Travis rushes into the room and I disappear into the night. 

Peggy's POV

I feel Travis behind me, asking me if I was okay. For some reason he sounds far away. I try to talk to him, but the darkness is beckoning me. I try to fight, but it's stronger than me and its wins. 

Travis's POV

I could tell that the car was the perfect present to give her.  GUYS, WE DID GOOD. I link with Jim and Will. SHE LOVES IT. Even though we were a little disappointed that she didn't say anything, the smile on her face filled our hearts. 

The guys and I went to mingle a little just to be nice. But I hated leaving her alone. From the corner of my eye, I see her slip into the house. I wait for ten minutes, she doesn't reappear. Twenty minutes later, she still not come out. I turn and head toward the house. I get worried about her easily. As I slip into the kitchen, I hear her scream. It scared the daylights out of me. "Peggy!" I yell racing towards the library. JIM, WILL GET TO THE LIBRARY NOW! SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH PEGGY! I yell at them. I hear another scream as I get closer. Taking a deep breath, I catch Peggy's scent and one of a male, but it's to faint for me to pinpoint who it belonged to. 

The third time she screams, I bust through the door and watch as she shifts. I hear her voice as she faintly calls someone a traitor. SHe shifts into a huge golden wolf, surprising me. Mom was the last golden wolf in our pack. I run up behind her, asking her if she's okay. I watch helpless as she passes out. 

Picking her up, I carry her to her room with Jim and Will right on my tail. I lay her down on her bed and cover her up. Although she's still in wolf form, within an hour, whether she's asleep or not, she'll shfit back. I look at the others and nod towards the hall. After I shut the door, they bombbare me with questions. 

"What the hell happened Travis?"
"Is she hurt? Why is she unconscious?" I could hear the pain, fear and worry in both of their voices. I just shake my head. "I"m not sure guys. I think she found her mate, and he rejected her. Then she shifted on top of that." Jim growls loudly. I look at Will. "Go tell the guest that the party's over. Then come back and help me and Jim clean up." He nods and turns to go. Before he leaves he looks at Peggy's door and then back at me. 

"Travis, who ever that idiot is, we're going to find him, torture him and then slowly, and I mean slowly, kill him for what he did to her. No matter who he is." I nod. "We'll find him. He better watch his back."
