Chapter 8
I'm so sorry I vanished these days. I've been so busy with work I didn't have time to write anything. I don't know if I'll be able to keep the 'everyday-chapter' thing during the next two weeks, but I promise I'll post again soon. Maybe tomorrow, maybe not lol
I hope you'll stick with me during these hard times.
If you enjoy this chapter, please consider voting for it, it helps me a lot <3
See you all soon!

"Syera, is everything okay in there?" Abe asked, knocking anxiously on the door. I didn't reply. Not at first. My eyes and mind were focused on something else. "It's been days since I last saw you."
I sighed and lifted my head up. The room smelled herbs and mud. I had left the house very early in the morning and roamed the forest around us, searching for ingredients that might be useful to me. I did remember there was a spell to erase memory, but I didn't know how to do it precisely. That improvisation had to work.
My body moved against my will, and I slid to the door, opening just a gap, enough to see the beta outside and to let the odor slip through it. "It'll be okay very soon," I whispered.
He stared at me with wide-open eyes. I was not sure what had shocked him more: the smell that came from my room or my looks of someone who had just spent days without a bath.
"What are you doing?" He inquired, trying to force his way inside. I pushed the door against him but still kept it half-open. "Syera, are you trying to...?" Abe grumbled, shaking his head. He didn't finish though.
I nodded. "It's necessary. Don't let anyone come near my room."
"I can't let you do that.", He tried pushing the door once more. I puffed out as my face turned into an angry face. "You know if you go back to it, you might not be able to..."
"Stop it." I slid a hand through the gap and pushed him out, closing the door behind me as I left my room. "I know what I'm doing. It's just this one time, I won't go back that path," I chided, walking toward him. Abe got up and raised his chin, but his shoulders slumped revealing he didn't like my demeanor. "You're either by my side or..." the words didn't come out. I raked a hand over my face and hair. "Whatever. Just don't get in my way. It'll be over soon."
All of it would be over soon, and in no time I wouldn't remember Adrian anymore. Hopefully. Why? Because I just couldn't bear living so far from him, I was a weak being, and I couldn't let it show, so I decided to run away.
Abe's calloused hand grabbed my arm before I got a chance to go back in. "At least, let me be there for you. Anything can happen if you do this by yourself." His eyes shimmered with guilty. I shrugged and got rid of his grip.
"Okay. Get in, but don't say another word about it." Abe nodded in agreement.
The inside of my room was filled with plants of all kinds, which I wasn't sure how to use anymore. There was a small vessel on top of a red squared carpet. I sat in front of it and went back to my spell. Abe sat on the chair near the table and kept staring at me, without a word as he promised.
I had to look like I knew what I was doing, at least. But without my books, which I had gotten rid of when I first started building my pack, I couldn't go far. I just had to trust my instincts of a witch and pray that I was doing the right thing, both with the spell and with erasing Adrian from my past.
I didn't finish it before it was dark, mixing the ingredients in the vessel and using my hands to heat it. My body was taut as I felt the magic flow through my veins. I wish I remembered how good it felt before deciding to give it up.
Abe got up and approached me, carefully. I didn't even look at him.
The potion boiled within minutes and I put in a small glass flask. It was finally done. I lifted the bottle and stared at it, praying for all the gods that it worked. And I drank it.
