Chapter 5
I was hidden behind a tree, staring at the small town growing in the distance. It had been years since I left my forest, and I was so used to being alone I didn't know how to be around people anymore. But something was growing inside me, something leading me there, without me even realizing it.
Sighing, I turned around. I couldn't leave. It was known by all what happened to witches in a city of werewolves. The same that happened to my parents, which was precisely why I had been living in exile for so long.
I started walking back my way. They would never receive me.
"Giving up so fast..." I heard. My heart bumped, but it was not out of fear or distress. "Mate?" he added.
Turning my head up to him, I first had a glance of that man, sitting on a branch, on the tree right above my head. I didn't know who he was; just knew I had never felt that way before. He had to be protected and loved, I had to be by his side for the rest of my life, and I wouldn't bare if I weren't.
Still breathing heavily, I woke up from that dream with almost no clue of where I was. I glanced wide opened eyes at the wall in front of me. There was a vintage dresser with my clothes and some books on top of it. Quickly the realization of where I was came to me.
After getting up, I dressed as fast as I could. Abe was in the kitchen, talking to one of ours. The other wolf left as soon as he saw me, leaving me and my beta alone. "We are leaving," I urged. The matter I was there to deal with had been settled; there was nothing else I could do there. "Now. Prepare everything."
He nodded and left, without asking anything.
I avoided what I knew I had to do the entire morning, but when Abe came to me saying that we were ready to leave, there was no way to dodge it any longer.
Adrian was inside his office, with two other alphas, discussing something I didn't really care about. When he saw me, something passed through his eyes, which I couldn't tell what it was. He told the other alphas to leave us alone.
"There was no need to do that," I said, despite knowing it was always best to talk to him with no one as an audience. "I just came to say we're leaving."
Adrian, who was organizing some papers, stopped and stared at me. I couldn't define what I saw in his look, while he seemed to make an effort to decide what to say. "I thought you said you were staying until this is over."
"And I thought you told me to leave," I replied, through my teeth. Yet, I felt like I owed him an explanation, even if there wasn't one for my absence. He was the strongest of the alphas, after all. "I can't leave my pack alone any longer."
I took a deep breath while staring at him. There was nothing left to say, however, I couldn't bring myself to leaving that place, to leaving his side. Forcing my body to move, I bowed and went back a few steps. "I can't say I hope we meet again."
In the blink of an eye, he was next to me. His body was pressing mine against the door. Adrian grabbed my arm and held it with force, but he was not hurting me. I could easily get rid of him, but I found myself not able to move. "Adrian...?"
Heeey guys! In this chapter I finally showed something of their past together, what do you think of it?
I must admit, I'm building half of the story while writing it and it's an amazing feeling.
Anyway, if you like it leave your vote and tell me what you think, I would love to read it <3 See you tomorrow!
