Chapter 12
I didn't leave her side, not once. There was no way I could bear existing without Syera, so it only made sense that I'd be by her side during those difficult times, that I'd make sure she would wake up again.
Syera's fever wouldn't go down, despite the healers' efforts to cure her. She was delirious, saying nonsense things and moaning all night, making the other wolves wonder if she would indeed survive.
Her pack was lost, half of them had gone back to their house to take care of the younger ones, and the other half promised to only leave with their alpha by their side.
My pack was facing trouble as well. We had lost many wolves during the attack, and they didn't have their alpha by their side, which was ultimately my fault. I wasn't a hundred percent with them, I couldn't be.
"I've done all that I could." the doctor said. Some tubes were connecting her body to a small blood pack. The man looked one last time at her. "It's up to Syera now."
"What do you..." I started. We heard knocks on the door. Both of our heads turned to the way the sound came from. Abe opened the door and put his head inside the room, inspecting the place. As soon as he realized there were only us inside, he got in.
"Alpha Adrian, you should rest." He was Syera's beta. Her friend and her most loyal warrior. That was all he was, I knew that... Still, I couldn't avoid disliking him. That man was able to stay by her side when I couldn't. He knew her struggles, he knew how to aid her when she needed, he was there for her and I had not been. He had so much, yet Abe didn't seem to realize it, to understand how much I wanted to take from him.
"I'm fine. I won't leave Syera's side." I didn't turn my face to him. I glanced at the doctor and bowed. "You can go now," I said. The man bowed down and walked towards the door. "You too." Abe knew I was talking to him, even though I didn't look at him. I still felt his presence inside the room for a few minutes, before he finally left.
I pulled a chair and sat down, by my mate's side. My hands wandered around the bed, looking for hers. I took Syera's hand inside mine and leaned my head forward, touching my forehead in our fingers enlaced. "You can't leave me twice." My voice was low and cracked. There was a lump growing in my throat I couldn't get rid off. "You don't get to do what you please with me again, mate. You won't break my heart again." It was already in pieces.
I let the sleepiness take over my body, as the sun descended on the sky. The room grew darker, but there was a slim light coming from the door gap. I don't know how long I stayed asleep. I woke up with a tightened grip on my fingers.
"Syera?" I sat bolt upright. "I'm here," I said. She moaned and rolled her face around. My hands searched for her head, and I took it inside my fingers. "Don't worry, you're gonna be okay."
She just then opened her eyes and stared at me with a frown on her front. Syera was confused, of course. The girl had gone through hard times while facing the venom, it was normal to be disoriented when awaken. At least, it was what the doctor said.
"Who are you?" she asked. Syera shook her head and moved her body over the bed, getting rid of my grip. I just stood there, staring perplexed at her. "Where's Abe? I need Abe now."
The doctor didn't mention anything about memory loss.

We are still on Adrian's POV, what do you think of it? I personally enjoyed a lot writing from his point of view.
I'm sorry for the long wait and I hope you liked this chapter <3
