I ran like I had never run in my entire life. The wind and the leaves hit me so hard it felt like hundreds of blades cutting my skin, but not even that was able to stop me. There was something inside me that kept me moving even if I didn't know what I was chasing exactly.

I made it to the Moonlight Pack's property in record time. The place seemed like a battlefield. Tons of bodies lying on the ground, the scent of blood was everywhere, screams mixed with howls. I looked around, searching for the alpha, but he was not in sight. I had to find him, desperation took over my body.

My head turned around anxiously, but my eyes weren't able to catch him. Something hit me. I felt the pressure over my body, and my hands unconsciously raised, trying to get me rid of that grasp. Our bodies rolled in the grass, another werewolf was on top of me. His claws hit my face hard. It stung. I released a loud scream and put all my strength in getting rid of him. I growled and pushed him in the chest with a punch. The man jumped back, leaving me enough space to get up on my feet.

I couldn't recognize his scent, but I knew he had to be one of the mutts that were rebelling against the power of the alphas. However, even if they had decided to attack the Moonlight Pack, they couldn't have beaten it so easily. It was one of the strongest packs there were, and the mutts were only a few the last time we checked. There had to be something else.

An urge to fight made its way through my body. I felt it start to change, but it was not time yet. In fact, it would never be the right time. My teeth clenched as only my fingers turned into claws.

The man jumped over me again, I ripped his chest with my claws. Half of his shirt flew away as he roared in anger. His eyes shone. He was going to turn. I looked around. Half of the people there had already turned into wolves. I had a better chance to defeat him if I did that too, but the mere thought of it made my body shiver.

"How did you get so powerful...?" I whispered. The man squirmed down, his body bent unnaturally. His spine extremely visible while his skin transformed into a stiff cuirass. His claws thrust into the ground, and now his snout fully changed. "Shit." The wolf raised its head to the sky and howled.

I went back a few steps, still staring at it. It was about to kill me and yet I wasn't able to turn into a wolf. Damn fear of wolves! The creature ran towards me, faster than anything I've seen. That wasn't an ordinary wolf.

I took a deep breath. I couldn't just stay there waiting for that creature to eat me. I forced my body to turn around and started running away. If I led it to the forest near the house, I could have a better shot, but I never made my way there.

I hit a force field before the end of the property. It was invisible. I screamed in pain, and my body fell to the ground from the contact with that energy. Magic! That was why they were so strong. And we were all stuck there. Running away from the field, I looked back. The wolf was still behind me. I had to transform, there wasn't any time left. Why was it so hard?

I, then, felt it. Adrian's scent on the other side of the energy field. I tried looking for him, the darkness was too thick my eyes could barely catch anything. It didn't matter, I smelled his blood. He was hurt, in need of help, he needed me.

My body started changing, on its own. My bones stretching as the beast took over me. I howled to the bloody moon, just standing in the sky watching all that slaughter. I ran in his direction, the magic wasn't enough to stop me.

Adrian was on his knees, with two women standing by his side, holding him. A third woman carried a knife in her hands, she ran towards the other two, and I watched as the weapon was thrown at Adrian's chest.

I couldn't control myself, nor I wanted to, I just knew I had to protect that man I didn't even know. Jumping in front of him, the dagger hit me in the belly in middle air. "Syera...!" I heard his voice. My body fell down on his lap, and I was still awake as it slowly transformed back into a human body, but after that, everything went black.
