Prologue

You were going to die, you knew for sure.

With the rate your heart was beating at the moment, you knew you were going to die.

Because every time the second hand in your watch ticked, you almost changed your mind.

Today was the day.

Oh, gawd.

Are you hyperventilating?

Wait, are you even breathing?

The team bus had arrived, and you got your confirmation when the player started entering the field one by one.

You stood at your usual spot in the stands, meddling with your equipment.

First, you heard his voice.

That weird feeling in your stomach, it was back again. As if Hardik had bowled at your stomach and hit the same ball there with his bat.

Second, you heard his laughter which tingled your chest.

Gosh, get a grip.

You chided yourself before turning your head just a little.

And lastly.

"Hey, Y/n," Shubman Gill entered your line of sight, smiling at you with a small wave.

As was the routine.

"Hey," you replied almost too eagerly, knowing you probably looked like an idiot.

While he just walked away, unminding but those dimples were still visible.

Nothing odd, right?

Being a part of ICT's support staff, as an assistant and research scholar under one of their physios, did keep you out of the public eye.

(A/n: I don't know how that works, or I made that up)

You've observed that in the past few months that you were here.

But it did nothing to keep you out of Shubman's sight.

At first, it was just an introduction for the team.

Then polite conversations from his side because at that time, you were new and he wanted you to be comfortable around the boys.

And then you were greeting each other and talking on a daily basis.

Sometimes you were hanging out with him and Ishan, even joined by his sister.

Until it also did nothing to keep Shubman out of your heart.

One thing led to another.

You found yourself being captivated with every word he said.

Every time he smiled, you didn't want to look away.

With every movement he made, you didn't want to stay away.

Two months and you realized you were doomed.

Nearly three months later after that, you knew you couldn't keep it in anymore.

So here you stand today, holding your heart in your hands as you prepare yourself.

For what?

To confess your feelings to Shubman.
