Chapter 40 🏇
Y/N P.O.V:
As Jimin, Lisa and Doctor Jung step out of his office, Jimin wastes no time in pulling a chair next to my bed and sitting in it, leaning forward and taking my hand in his.
"Babe.. how are you feeling?"
I smile and squeeze his hand,
"Never been better."
He chuckles and rubs my hand in circles with his thumb.
"Do you remember what happened?" He says, tone now serious and the sweet smile vanished from his face.
I sigh and say,
"I-i don't remember.. but Coach Jaemi said that I fell off Crystal. Something happened to Crystal, but I can't seem to remember.."
"Crystal doesn't act aggressive unless she feels threatened or is confronted by someone she doesn't know.. did you by chance ..uh.. pat her forehead?"
"In the stable, yes.. and she backed away immediately.. so I never did it again. But why does-"
"Is it not possible for her to get discharged anytime soon?" Jimin cuts me off, turning to the Doctor.
"She's stable now, so I can have her discharged in half an hour." Doctor Jung says with a smile to me.
I sigh, closing my eyes.
I just want everything to get back to normal..
Christmas is near, I can't wait to celebrate with Eomma and everyone else..
My eyes shoot open in realization, as I say,
"D-doctor Jung! Did you tell my mother about this?"
With furrowed eyebrows, he shakes his head.
"No I didn't.. would you like to tell her now?"
I nod my head a little as Jimin takes out his phone. After giving him Eomma's number, he gives me the phone and I place it on my lap on speaker mode.
"Hello? Who is this?"
"Eomma it's me.."
"Oh! Y/N, yes what is it? Who's number is this?"
"This is Jimin's number.. I called to tell-"
"Oh, Jimin! That handsome boy, I spent the day at the Parks, and-"
"Eomma! Hear me out, this is serious!" I whine as the people around me chuckle at Jimin's now bright red face.
"Alright alright."
"So.. um.. I had a little accident at the academy today-"
"Omo!! Do you want me to come there? How did it happen? Did someone-"
"Eomma, I'm fine now, I fell off my horse and I hurt my back and my head.."
"Are you in the hospital?"
"Yes, I'm at the academy hospital and Doctor-"
Doctor Jung speaks up, saying
"Can I speak to her?"
I nod and say,
"Eomma, Doctor Jung wants to speak with you.."
I hand the phone over to Doctor Jung and he puts it off speaker mode, pressing the phone to his ear.
"Mrs. Kim! I'm Doctor Jung. I can assure you that I've taken necessary care of Y/N as of now, and I'll send you a prescription for her medicine and precautions, alright?"
I hear her muffled voice and Doctor Jung smiles saying,
"No, it's alright Mrs. Kim, you don't owe me anything. I'm just doing my job...yes, ok.. your welcome, goodbye!"
I chuckle, saying,
"I'm guessing she wanted to take you out for dinner?"
"Yea, and not any dinner, a mukbang!"
I laugh, thinking of how Eomma always rewarded people who helped us with a night out.
"Ok, it's time for you to be discharged now Y/N.. please take care of yourself and try not to put yourself in unpleasant situations."
I nod and thank him, my eyes now landing on Lisa who was now busy typing away on her phone with a smug grin on her face when her gaze meets mine.
My eyes widen in realization and before I could say anything, the door to the hospital slams open, two familiar figures rushing in.
"HOW DARE YOU!"
"ARE WE NON-EXISTENT TO YOU?!"
Gigi and Megs walk in as Megs shoves Jimin away from me and he stumbles backwards, bumping into Dr. Jung who seemed just as confused as he was.
Gigi wraps her hands around the side of me and Megs does the same on the other side. I wince as a tiny sting of pain pokes the back of my head and they both pull away immediately.
"What the hell happened with you and Crystal? Why would she do that?" Gigi says.
"Bitch, I told you we should have skipped classes to accompany her, and if you weren't Mrs. Perfect, this wouldn't have happened!" Megs grumbles at Gigi who's eyes widened as she replied,
"And if you hadn't stopped at the cafeteria a million times, we would have-"
"Ok, that's enough." Dr. Jung says, separating the both of them as I laughed.
They glared at Dr. Jung as their eyes land on me.
"We'll deal with you later." Gigi says, booping my nose before I slowly get out of bed with Jimin's hands around my waist for support.
*Time skip*
I step into the Parks house, with Jimin's hands still secured around me.
"Jimin, I can walk now!" I say. At first, my head began to spin but after standing up for a few minutes, I feel fine now. My head is a little heavier than usual, but I can deal with it.
"No you can't." he says, stubborn. As we cross the living room, I see the maids setting up christmas decorations and the Christmas tree.
"You're setting everything up already?" I say in awe as my eyes wander the huge Christmas tree that extended up to the roof of the large living room.
"We're always a little early, but we don't decorate the Christmas tree until Christmas day.. our family and friends gather here and put it up." He says with a chuckle at my bewildered face.
"Have you never done any of this before?" He asks, without thinking twice.
My smile falters as my eyes leave the Christmas tree, falling to my fidgeting fingers.
"Um.. haha, no.. I've never celebrated Christmas before. The closest I would get to celebrate it, was watching other families setting up their decorations and Christmas trees through their windows."
Jimin places his fingers under my chin and tilts my head up so my eyes meet his.
"Well then, I'm gonna make sure this will be the best first Christmas for you.. ok?"
I smile, and hug him tightly. His hands wrap around my back and he kisses the top of my head.
"Alright, its late already.. let's have dinner and go to bed."
I take my seat at the table and Jimin takes out food from the fridge, heating in the microwave.
I stand up and bow when I see Mrs. Park leaning against the large arched entrance of the kitchen.
"So Y/N.. will you be staying to celebrate Christmas with us?"
"Yes.. I hope it won't be an inconvenience to your traditional methods of doing things in your family.."
"Oh, nonsense! We have friends over for Christmas all the time! Your mother was here the whole day. We talked a lot and she really is a wonderful lady Y/N, please do invite her to the celebration."
"Sure.."
After dinner, I walk up to my room and close the door behind me with a smile.I sigh as I drag my feet across the bedroom, tiredness tugging on my eyelids. I was about to lay down but a gush of wind from the balcony hit me and I shudder, walking over to close the door.
I reach for the handle of the door, but something outside caught my eye. I furrow my eyebrows, stepping outside with my hands wrapped around my body to keep myself warm. Squinting my eyes, I gasp as I see people exiting their houses, gathering on the streets with lights, and different decorations.
At that moment, my tiredness vanished as I turn around and squeal, running into Jimin's room. He startles by my sudden entrance and stood up from his bed, a worried expression coating his face.
"What's wrong?"
"There's nothing wrong! Come here quick!"
I drag him to his balcony and point to the people now adorning the trees around the streets with lights and bounce in my spot. Not waiting for an answer, I rush out of the room and down the hallway where I bump into Mrs. Park at the kitchen.
"Goodness, child! Slow down, you gave me a start!"
I bow, and say with a smile,
"Mrs. Park-"
"Minhyo, dear."
"Y-yes, Minhyo.. I noticed people of the neighborhood gathering to decorate the area, and I was wondering if Jimin and I could join them too."
"Oh dear! Absolutely not, we cannot be seen with lowly people out in the cold, decorating these already ugly roads! We have a reputation to uphold my dear, and word would spread like wild fire. Imagine what my friends would think of me!"
The smile on my face faded as I feel a gentle hand around my shoulder.
"Mom, it's fine. Nobody is going to bad-mouth us.. it's Christmas! And I'm pretty sure we have many decorations in the basement from last year." Jimin says, glancing at me and then turning back to his mother.
"Jimin, you know I don't-"
"Dear, let them go.. they're still young and this won't affect them at all. Jimin has gone when he was younger, so let them enjoy the time while they can, hmm?" Mr. Park appears, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"You always take his side." Mrs. Minhyo says, glaring at her husband. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Jimin clenching his jaw as his grip around me tightens. In all this, I was there standing awkwardly as I watched Minhyo get agitated.
Maybe I shouldn't go. After all, I'm the one living in their house.
"Mrs. Minhyo.. I-it's alright.. I won't go. It isn't much of a big deal anyways.." I say, forcing a smile on my face. Jimin looks at me and a smile spreads across Mrs. Minhyo's face.
"See? She has more sense than the rest of you.. thank you dear." She says, slightly pinching my cheek. Mr. Park shakes his head and sighs. Before anyone could say anything else, I bow.
"Ok, I'll get going now. Goodnight."
Following me up to my room with his hands shoved into his pockets, Jimin says,
"You didn't have to do that."
I groan, opening the door to my room and closing it after he steps in.
"It's fine, Jimin.."
"No, it's not. You don't always have to let her get her way.."
"What do you mean? I owe all of you! The least I can do is follow the rules around here.."
He sighs, stepping into the bathroom to wash his face. I nibble on my lower lip as I feel my heart sink in my chest.
I just wanted to see what it was like.. to feel the happiness that the people around me did during this time of year..
Stepping out onto the balcony, my eyes are now fixed onto the people decorating the streets. A sad smile surfaces on my face when I hear children's laughter coming from the area. The streets being decorated were from the next block, across the field that separated the house and them so I couldn't see much. I tap my fingers on the cold concrete and rest my chin on my palm, gazing longingly at the sight.
"That's it, we're going." Jimin says from behind me and I turn around, grabbing his arm.
"Jimin, stop! I can do without a few street decorating, I'm not a little girl!"
"That's because you never had the life of one.." He says, wrapping an arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him and caressing my cheek with his free hand.
"It's not a big deal.." I say softly, but my insides hoped he would take me there.
"Yes it is.. we're going and that's final."
"But what about-"
"If you think I haven't snuck out of my house before, you're highly mistaken."
I stay silent for a few seconds but a smile soon tugs at my lips and so does Jimin.
"I'll get the decorations.. you wait in the car."
I nod, bouncing in excitement as I rummage through my closet and smile when I find an outfit.
After changing, I step out of the bathroom and I look in the mirror.
"Beautiful as always." Jimin says, placing a kiss on the side of my head as I blush intensely.
"So.. how do we get out?"
"Follow me." Jimin says, a sly smirk adorning his perfect face.
I giggle, following close behind as he walks down the hallway, past his room and an office which I'm guessing is his dad's. We turn a corner and are met with a metal door. Jimin's fingers wrap around the latch and as he pulls it to the right, it releases a high screeching noise and I wince, closing my ears to prevent any pain from sparking in my head.
"Let's hope they haven't heard anything.." Jimin says as he opens the door and turns on the light.
"Why are we in the basement? I need to be in the car, Jimin."
"Shush."
I frown, shoving him as he stumbles down the steps, holding onto the railing for dear life.
"Yah!! Stop it if you don't want to get caught!" He whisper yells with furrowed eyebrows and I chuckle, saying,
"Then don't shush me."
"I'll shush you whenever I want." He says, opening a door in the basement that leads to the garage. I place a kiss on his cheek before stepping in and say,
"Thank you.." I smile with a blush creeping onto my face.
"Anything for you, sugar." He says with a playful smirk as I giggle, stepping into the car and closing the door behind me. I turn on the heater, rubbing my palms against each other as I watch Jimin step out of the basement with a box that I suppose is carrying our decorations.
He opens the back door, placing the box on the back seat before stepping into the seat beside me.
"Whoo! It's cold outside." He says, placing his hands in front of the heater.
"What if they hear the car?" I say, worried.
"They'll be asleep by now.. Mom's usually a heavy sleeper. Let's hope Dad doesn't rat us out, hmm?" Jimin says with a mischievous smile and I giggle, wondering if this is how he was all the time in his school days.
*Time skip*
I bounce in my seat as the lights get brighter and the laughs get louder.
This is it! I'm finally experiencing what this is about!
I feel a hand across my tapping thigh and I turn to Jimin.
"Y/N.. Calm down!" Jimin says with a laugh as I ignore his comment, turning my head to look back out at the approaching scene.
A/N P.O.V:
Y/N steps out of the car, not waiting for it to come to a stop and gasps when she sees the large Christmas tree, standing tall and proud in the center of the street square, with people on ladders, adding their little decorations and lights to it.
(Pretty, isn't it?)
In all its splendor, even though it was still incomplete, it was magnificent to look at. With it's top reaching for the sky, it's light could be seen from far away as little children ran around it, placing hanging ornaments at the bottom of the tree with the help of their parents.
Her eyes were fixed on the dazzling tree that she didn't notice Jimin placing the box of decorations on the floor next to her. He smiles at her astonishment, glad he could give her something she had never experienced in her childhood.
He pats her shoulder, pulling her out of the enchanted trance and she turns to him, noticing the box on the floor.
"Ah, yes.." She says with a little squeal, picking up a few hanging ornaments from the box and running towards the tree. As the evening sky faded away, the pink and orange hues were replaced with dark shades of blue, whilst the amber light of the street lamps spilled on the stone-paved streets.
Jimin's eyes roamed the flickering tree, with its tiers of lights. He closed his eyes, inhaling the smell of baked goods that were being prepped in advance for Christmas day. The laughter of children and the chatter of people filled his senses as he re-lived those times with his Uncle, as his Uncle lifted him up to place the decorations on the highest point of the tree.
He was brought back by a soft hand in his, pulling him to the bright tower as Y/N placed a pair of turtle doves in his hands. He smiles, reaching up to a branch that stood out a little further than the others and placed it firmly on the branch. He looked satisfied with the outcome as the pair of turtle doves with their wings spread in flight had taken their place.
After using up a few decorations on the gorgeous tree, Y/N's eyes wandered the area around it. The festively designed stalls, illuminated with blinking Christmas lights, vibrant ornaments and brightly colored signs, were lined up along either side of the street. Her eyebrows furrowed at the empty stalls that lined the streets, lights adorning their hollow insides.
"Why are they empty?"
"They will be revealed tomorrow, at the celebration."
Her smile graces her face again, as she walks over to a bunch of people that sit around a little table. They greet her as soon they see her and she does the same.
"So.. what are you guys doing?" Y/N asks, curious at the bunch of empty cards that lay across the table.
"We're making greeting cards." A woman with bright red says, as they continue to craft intricate designs onto the paper with quotes and heart-warming messages.
"Oh, great! I'll leave you to do it.. good luck!" She says, eager to explore more of the place.
Jimin pulls her to a certain area where people were making bracelets and little necklaces to sell for the next day. He stops at the stall and turns to Y/N, who was busy looking at the necklaces that were being made.
"Babe.. which one do you want?" He says, sliding an arm around her waist. She nibbles on her lower lip, eyes scanning all the pretty necklaces until it lands on one that had the letter of her name on it. She points to it eagerly and bounces in her spot as Jimin picks another one with the letter 'J' on it.
"Can you please reserve these two for tomorrow? I'll pay for them and collect it from you.."
The man behind the stall says with a warm smile,
"Sir, these are free.. we don't charge money for Christmas. Don't worry, we'll reserve these for you. You both are a lovely couple."
A blush erupts on both their faces as they bow and walk back to the Christmas tree hand in hand. Y/N's eyes land on Jimin and she can't help but stare at him.
"Something on my face?" He says with a smile.
Without a word, she hugs him tightly with her eyes shut.
"Thank you.. for everything." She says with a wavering voice.
Jimin breaks the hug and places two fingers under her chin, tilting her head up to face him.
"Like I said., anything for you, sugar."
And with that, their lips met, moving perfectly against each other as he caresses her hair with another hand around her waist.
After all, they are each other's desires.. they are each other's passion... they are each other's pain... and they are each other's cure.
