A/N P.O.V

Y/N was shocked. She couldn't believe what her ears had just heard. She never expected Jimin, the rich boy that has everything, to have a past as gruesome as that.

Tears dropped from her eyes, as she could feel the pain as Jimin told her everything. If she was feeling so much pain by just hearing this story, how could Jimin live normally with a smile when he witnessed it with his own eyes?

But that's the point, behind that smile there was nothing but pain, anguish and sorrow. She now knew that Jimin wasn't just a normal rich boy, but now similar to her ; they both ache inside, wishing that there was something they could have done to prevent the life changing events from happening.

But what was more worrying, was that Jimin never shed a tear while telling her everything that happened. He was going crazy inside, trying to keep himself together. His heart screamed for him to let it all out, but his mind told him not to show any weaknesses and vulnerability.

" Jimin.. crying is ok.. you know that right? Y-you told me that. " Y/N says, sniffling after he was done.

Jimin looks to her and her heart clenched at the messages she was receiving from his eyes.

"But that's not me. I don't cry. I'm not weak Y/N. Love weakens me... I love you, but no-one else. The love I feel for you is different from what I shared before. "

She took his hand pulled him closer.

" Jimin.. right now, you're in a cage. You're trapped and not letting anyone in either. Love is the answer to all your problems Jimin, it's not a burden! It can fix souls, cure us all.. "

Jimin's face slowly turns angry as he scoffs and says,
" Fix souls? Love RIPPED my soul into pieces and threw it away for me to go and pick it up, piece by piece. Cure us all? It's only caused more wounds in my life. I don't even know why I started loving again. "

Y/N covers her mouth as tears slowly fall from her eyes. She knew he didn't mean what he was saying... Right?

"J-Jimin, listen to me.. Love is the key! I wish I could have mastered it, but it's hard when you've been emotionally starving for so long. "

" No. There is no key to this pain. There is no answer to my prayer, and there never will be. "

Y/N hits his chest at the words that leave his mouth as she yells,
" Do you not care?! I love you and I hate seeing you like this !! You can sit and call for help. You can act like there is no cage, wear a mask of coping and normality. You can rage against the bars. Yet what love makes simple, no other thing can solve. "

Jimin just stares at her with no reply.

" Can't you see?! I was trapped in this cage too Jimin! But love has set me free. That was my way out. I learned how to hide the pain, how to look normal. I understand why you go cold inside to escape the pain of isolation, why you let your empathy wither and die, why you choose numbness over feeling. I know it all Jimin!  Because I did it and boy, did I regret it. "

Jimin's gaze lowers as he slowly pulls her into a hug. She runs her fingers through his hair and places a kiss on his head. She was hoping he would cry or let something out but to no avail. Not a drop was released and Y/N was going crazy on the inside.

" Jiminie.. please say something.. " she whispers with a wavering voice.

He just stood there, with his gaze fixed to the floor.
" I cannot feel the love you talk about.. it refuses to enter my heart.. there are too many scars, too many holes for it to last forever.. I'm sorry, but you cannot ignite this flame again. "

Y/N runs her fingers through her hair and she grips it hard.

" I-I don't understand. How can you live like this? Regardless of the pain, I believe that living with an incomplete soul is a form of death, and I'd rather be a human in pain than a zombie that feels no emotions. I refuse this attitude from you Jimin- "

She was cut off as her voice cracked. She was worried, terrified to say in the least. Would Jimin love her truly? Or will his past take over his decisions?

" D-do you even love me? "

Jimin looks up immediately at her words as a sad gaze leaves his eyes.
" I-i don't know "
" What do you mean?! You've told me countless times that you loved me a-and I could see it in your eyes too! "

" Yes, but the emptiness always finds its way back, doesn't it? This is just a craving after years of nothing. It's not permanent.. "

Y/N lets out a large exhale as she looks at him with her hands on her hips,
" So I'm just a one-time craving? After those feelings die out, what am I then?"
" Listen, babe, j-just give me some time, ok? I-i'll sort myself out and if my feelings are true, then I'll confess my love for you.. but if they aren't.. "

Jimin couldn't finish his words as he felt the same old pain tugging at his heart once again. He was sick and tired of it all. He wanted to be alone, and get himself together so that's what he decided to do.

Y/N felt her heart shatter into pieces, and she was doing everything possible not to freak out and cry her eyes out at that moment.

"S-so what now? " She says with a low wavering voice.

Jimin looks up to her and takes her face in his hands and attaches his lips with hers. The kiss was hungry and desperate, but somehow Y/N felt this kiss might be their last in a long time. Jimin wanted to savour this moment and hold on to it forever, for he knew what he was going to do next.

He breaks the kiss and looks deeply into Y/N's eyes with a sad gaze as he says,
" For now, our love has to end. "

A/N : ok, I DID NOT EXPECT THIS. I can already imagine my readers screaming at me 😂😂.. but don't worry guys, this is all part of the emotional rollercoaster that HAS to happen. It will take some time and probably a few more chapters for Jimin to come to a conclusion. So, I suggest you hold on tight, cuz there's a LOT comin your way.
